I like when a story emphasizes a creature only to make it manageable and not imaginable, what makes scary creatures scary or terrifying is it's presence, size, and ability to kill/strike fear. each one can be combined

I was just going off of serpent as a snake can be described as a serpent but I see there could be different types of serpents.

could've used a sound to describe, (depending on how big it is) like the sound of a rope being waved around back and forth, or the sound of new fresh leather being continuously stretched. I feel like that could have given more to the size of the snake and in doing that I still a fear or terror of how big a snake has to be for the sound of it moving it's tounge/body has to be to make those sounds audible.

the lack of communication is annoying, don't promise 2 chapters and only do 1. just say 1 in the morning and 1 in the afternoon or just 1 a day for awhile or whatever just communicate your availability to write

I love the saying wolf in sheep's clothing bc that describes Derek perfectly or partially. He gets mad for not being in control of everyone's lives and being able to dictate what people can and can't do. this is getting old with him, Rachel needs to discard the sterling name and take Drake as her last name bc at least she won't be used as a pawn all the time.
