Even then just having the device even if it’s fried will allow for decryption in later battles. Even just a vague reference to how it’s made and what the purpose of the devices inside it would make compromising it much easier. And that’s ingnoring the possibility of an enemy capturing an unconscious soldier as the lethality of laser weapons is much less than ballistic weaponry due to not resulting in bleeding wounds when hit.
