First, I'd like to say that this is as close as any webnovel got to real, actual novels(Moby Dick etc. You know what I mean) standards. That's why I gave 5 stars to writing quality: it's simply the best I've encountered on this site. I won't go into updating stability, because the novel had 1000+ chaps when I started. The story itself was good enough, compelling even; preventing me from dropping the book, despite the (perceived) decline of the MC. Perceived because this is my personal opinion after all, and I am a man of particular tastes, so I can't expect the majority (which the author aims to please; not wrong in that, he's just trying to make a buck) to share them. As for character design, I'm dismayed. I was expecting an interesting blend of Noah and Leylin (Rebirth of demonic sword, Warlock of the magus world). Keep in mind tho, that I read those 2 books very much AFTERWARDS. The story and the character both started strong. He seemed unique, but also a guy that could inspire me: ruthless, ambitious, cunning... Boy was I wrong. As newer characters were introduced, as older characters were given depth, I saw a pattern for all them, in all of them(including the MC), a sort of plain wife common sense, an uncanny knack for making the most sensible decisions, the most rational, in a strange, unselfish way. The world background is also affected by this, in the way big figures(like the guardians, Baba Yagga etc) influence history. Overall if you like boring wholesome stuff, monogamous relationships and a magic system (the way magic works, not an MC personal system) that has the MAGIC taken out it(like it was designed by an engineering student who dreams math), then I definitely recommend it!
