The saying is "The blood of the covenant is thicker than the water of the womb" meaning it doesnt prove it right... If it was true he would be siding with them and demanding execution.
Many times he'd tried to curb his little brother's dangerous ambitions, but to no avail. He knew his brother was now reaping the consequences of his foolish actions, but even then he still didn't want him to die because of it, proving the old saying right; blood is thicker than water.
