I've said this before, but if you don't want to read a story with a female gender bent MC, that's fine, but don't take time out of your limited lifespan to argue over it, either read it, or don't, it's really not that serious. I didn't really show anything about him yet though. I purposefully left out Naoko's characterization as the first 10 or so chapters really don't focus on her as much as they focus on other characters. That's why she's mostly in the background for most scenes except for maybe the latest fight where I showed off the frenzy aspect of her character. Maybe it was weird to do it like that though, so yea, if it feels wrong, that's totally understandable. I did slightly tease at his character in the prologue though so I thought it wouldn't be that out of left field, but again, maybe I'm wrong.

As in, it doesn't work within the confines of this story or just doesn't work in general? I personally feel like it's an interesting ethical dilemma, not every person in his situation will act like him. I got the idea for his character after watching an interview with a British armed forces sniper. If you don't know the story, he is considered to be one of the best snipers in the world, even having the world record for the farthest kill ever made. However, despite his apparent fame, he is a man who is very clearly torn apart by what he did, to the point where even after he retired, what he did all those years ago still affects his life and relationships. I don't know, you might see it differently, but I feel like not everyone can just adapt to killing people without it affecting their psyche. Sure, there are some people who might, but not everyone.

And some people may not like that it doesn't advance the plot so they can skip it.

Toji's inverted spear of heaven which neutralizes any cursed technique got through it, so something that burns through cursed energy should theoretically be able to do it too. Though, I am not sure if a wisp of flaming cursed energy would be able to reach him since you know, Achilles and the turtle, but since that infinity is maintained through the use of cursed energy, it should be able to penetrate through. If not, Naoko can just use domain amplification and since she doesn't have a cursed technique, she doesn't have the usual tradeoff that comes with domain amplification. That tradeoff being that you have to use either domain amplification or your cursed technique, you can't use both.

She doesn't. Her cursed energy is literally on fire, the same way Hajime Kashimo's cursed energy has the properties of electricity

Good question, but aside from minor and surface level dilemmas, this story obviously will not tackle what it's like being reborn as a different gender as I feel like that's beyond the scope of what I'm trying to write. More so than that, I made this decision to tackle source material specific issues. As in the discrimination women face in the Zenin clan, but through a male lense, if that makes sense. But more than anything, the fact that I thought it would be fun to write a character like this probably influenced my decision the most.
