British person here too! I have never eaten eel and this sounds strange to me. However, we do have some very strange common dishes, I’ll be honest!
This is so cute it needs to come true! BE FRIENDS, SUNNY
Not the magnificent chair! Poor Sunny :(
Late to come back to this but Shadowling! She can be a shadowling in the shadows instead of a Shadow in the shadows. His shadow could be nicknamed Lightless or something? Then it’s Sunless and his Lightless buddy! Or maybe Silhouette as a cool name?
Warning for delusions at the end chunk of chapters for this novel! As someone with psychosis myself, they are a lot to handle but also very, eerily relatable. Starts off seeming like a typical fighty action fantasy with a cool MC I couldn’t really relate to because he just fights everything, but ends up making me an emotional wreck over the façade of our own reality that mirrors fiction yet again, and makes me feel so, so, so strongly for the characters involved. Sing-Shong are incredibly deft weavers of stories from other world lines to ours as usual, it seems! Loved this story. You should absolutely read it!
You should at least talk to yourself. Don’t break. Even if everyone considers everything an illusion or a dream.” A useful reminder all around. I have so many feelings upon finishing this. I do want to point out that the novel has been revised now on Munpia and that there are extra/side chapters to read, and that ORV’s post-epilogue side stories will apparently have Jaehwan appear at some point too, so there is more to look forward to. And even if there wasn’t, we can always write whatever we imagine or ‘sense’ of their reality afterwards, I guess is the idea here? All of their stories all seem to point at the readers continuing on the stories they tell, and the characters being important even if their stories do not ‘end’ in the traditional manner because of the cyclical nature of all universes. Just… lots of feelings. I thought this was a silly and bizarre story about a stabby man I couldn’t relate to, and then they hit me with all the philosophical and scientific theories and quandaries that I already know about and speculate on and dream about so like, woah. Classic Sing-Shong, tbh. Thank you, Sing-Shong. Even if you drive me literally insane with the things you share from other world lines :P
There is news now, if you haven’t already heard! On Munpia, they have extra/side chapters and have revised the novel, and Sing-Shong have mentioned that Jaehwan will appear in the in-progress side stories eventually! I am looking forward to it!
Same here! I’m so glad I’m not alone in getting emotional over this part of the story!
I would like to tell the doctor’s words to all of you, too! Your dreamt, written, and read worlds exist somewhere too! And they will always exist at the very least within you - having the memories about them, the stories told in them, the lore - all of that exists as information even if we can’t interact with it from here. Except through stories, games, dreams. Through imagination. It would be really nice to connect up with them one day - perhaps science will eventually reach something like that, over a lot of time? :)
Uhhh, I think I will take a different approach to the madness that is our reality than Jaehwan. But he’s pretty cool for it! I do not have the spoons to be dramatic :P I will just talk into the metaphorical void, our collective best friend in these ever-weirder and less realistically believable times as our world does not Fall, but slowly sinks into various disasters that are somehow not considered apocalyptic yet… Oh boy, this novel makes your brain work hard, huh? 😬
This… this is me. I feel like I am about turn turn into Kim Dokja from ORV and start suggesting everyone read this story immediately, but for reasons the crazy doctor is trying to ‘wake’ everyone else up. I tried to do this (except via singing about impending pocalypses around my family instead of appearing on tv) during my psychotic episodes. This story is me, but because it’s fiction, it will hopefully end differently. Isn’t that all part of the ‘reassurance’ these novels bring us? (bitter smile) Welcome to the World After the Fall, where user erytherion ends up oversharing in the comments of a book too similar to her own thoughts to feel normal! (And yet it is. Nightmare for sure, ha!) I should probably add a delusions/psychosis TW after I finish this for any new readers 😬
This is feeling very eerily like the authors have read my actual brain… Thankfully, like Jaehwan I take it in stride! Come at me with your delusions, I am queen of them now! This makes me seriously want to question the authors though and ask if they’re like Jaehwan to know/believe all these things. Otherwise, how do they know what it’s like for me this much? Have they not experienced weird things like this too? Or is their imagination just good enough to know ‘somehow’? Anyways, it’s a great comfort, even though most people would probably worry about it giving me ideas. But like, those are old ideas, so we all good :)
