That's a major flaw in his character at that point, but mainly: he wasn't aware, and him being hailed as a prodigy could've warped his awareness of that. I don't think he was that arrogant when he clearly knew, and while a ninja shouldn't underestimate, there's no way to sense ANYTHING from Lee (cooked chakra lol)

I very CLEARLY addressed his arrogance. do not skip over the part where I said "if he clearly knew someone was stronger, he wouldn't try to fight them." You don't see him genuinely challenging Kakashi, and tbh, he was influenced by the curse mark when he left, and he was a little crazy in the head. him fighting Naruto was not arrogant, he knew they were close in power at that point. (ik you never said that, just bringing up a point.) Eventually he couldn't really pick many battles, as a rogue shinobi, since running away could get you killed by a faster opponent. he was actually matching up closely with S-rank shinobi BEFORE getting his MS (recall: fight between Sasuke and Deidara.) If he thought deidara packed up Gaara, then he mightve not known how to gague exactly how strong the 8 tails is, and by the bee fight, he would've definitely beaten deidara. He had no other choice other than to fight, because if he tried snaking them? Obito would've gotten packed up, and he was mad with power. that Sasuke was arrogant, or just really crazy, I can't disagree. Arrogance is part of his character, but to be honest, even Naruto thought he stood a chance against Lee, Sasuke was being cocky just like him, but if Sasuke already knew Naruto was stronger, there's no way he would've done that!
