The mechanics drew inspiration from many things: • Real-world ritual and protocol: Military drills, religious rites, even small workplace habits—how people create stability through repeated actions. • The idea that magic becomes stronger when it is shared: A seal is made not by a hero but by a city acting like a living document. • The emotional truth that community protects better than individual power: In Novaterra, names, touch, soup, and routine aren’t flavor—they are spell components. By making people the “paper,” I wanted the map, laws, and protections to feel tactile and alive—dependent on every citizen’s choice to participate. It also allowed for tension: if people panic or slip, the world itself can slip too. I’m really glad it felt immersive for you—thank you again for reading and asking!
