I like Xie Jiu and Xie Zhang but I have a real issue with how the Marquis and Marchioness treat Xie Xun. He is the Marchioness’ biological child, who she didn’t think she would ever have due to her difficulty recovering after delivering Consort Xie. I’m not saying she should disregard Xie Zhang or Xie Jiu but she should have more feelings for Xie Xun. The same for the Marquis, favoritism is inevitable but to completely ignore/discount your legitimate son upon birth simply so he won’t compete with his elder brothers? That is bad parenting.
