That's because calling someone, especially a group of people, "mutants" is a supremely stupid decision. Especially since culturally the word mutant brings to mind radiation damaged and deformed animals and people. And horror movie villains. Overall, truly terrible idea to name a race that.

10 super powered people is still a huge team. I too think making a team is a big mistake. That just basically turns this story into a mini kingdom build kind of thing.

He's so stupid. He took the deal with mephisto because, supposedly, any other avenue he took to learn magic would only teach him the basics. But oh look, three years of learning magic and he still only knows the basics. So he got absolutely nothing out of the deal except an extremely powerful enemy, after he already said he was going to stay in the shadows specifically to avoid making those enemies. You tried to make us think he's "clever" for taking that deal, but instead he's just a total moron.
