its hard not to find fault in each character, the defining factor is the gravity of each sin.

as i understand from the novel, geoffrey hates losing, he is egotistical. he knew he would lose serena if charlton is granted with that medal thing. the fact that he was able to have a happy married life without a feeling a small remorse for what he had done? he should be put in jail. but the fact that he lived a blissful married life with serena had a kid without paying for his crimes?

serena just be single for the rest of your life, and repent repent and regret. the audacity for you to fall for charlton again? pathetic. child, your father is a rapist. your uncle deserves better, not your mother, don't force them together. your father, mother and now you, a family of manipulators.
