Just got to re-read the chapter and edited some stuff, especially about the City Lord's thing. The boy is now more of a jerk, and a young adult (22 rather than 17). Didn't change the interaction with the previous noble, because that one is a reference to Nazeem in Skyrim, an Npc who is very infamous for being a jerk. He repeated that Npc's lines almost one for one, so it's kind of an inside joke; hopefully that clears it up a bit more. Thanks for the criticism, I do take it seriously ^^

Anyhow, back to mana training. Steve didn't have any skills that would allow him to feel his mana, so he somehow had to figure it out on his own. He started off simply, by sitting on the ground in his log, closing his eyes and focusing, thinking back to what he felt the first time he tried it. He's being too focused on what he could do in the far future, and not being careful enough with how he's progressing right now. Did I understand that correctly? I can see where you're coming from, I suppose, but he also has to focus on his current situation. If he had the time and space to optimally learn everything, that would be better, but he's also currently trapped and has to fight for his life every day. His environment isn't leaving him the room to advance slowly and carefully So without a teacher and being in this kind of place he's just making progress as well as he can, if that makes sense?
