This planet's inhabitants are all really tall. He's a young boy.
I couldn't tell his exact age since he was so damn tall, but from how the species on this planet were, I could only guess that the prince was a very young boy. He was probably the equivalent of an eighteen-year-old on earth. There is no way someone that young would feel nothing about the death of his mother and many others. You're forgetting one particularly important fact... they're superhumans capable of far more than regular humans. Catching five coins easily is child's play for them.
