It's alluded to that time does flow differently in the Otherworld with the mention of other people returning from there unchanged. However, that's not really a fact realized by her until this moment. Aribelle's knowledge of magic is pretty much limited to what was written in the original novel and tales (sometimes tall) that she's heard in her interactions with other people, so she doesn't necessarily draw her own conclusions on these matters. Any time I can deep-dive into details further, I'd be happy to do so.
"I was only gone for a few hours. How could you do this?" said Aribelle, her voice shaking from the fear and abhorrence of his destruction. Still wary of him, Aribelle flinched as the wide palm of Cassius's hand cupped her face. Beginning to wipe away some of the soot gently with his thumb, Cassius replied, "Fawn, you've been missing for at least two days now."
