1) He did not have the time. He had a month at the white castle to be trained which would have yielded nothing significant. 2) The Duke doesn't actually want him to dominate or do anything. He's being sent there to be killed. He's a political puppet. nothing more. it doesn't matter to the Duke how he actually performs in the academy.

There is absolutely no schedule I do try to write in advance, but sometimes you're just not happy with the chapter and get stuck on a part. other days it's smoother. so chapters can be early or late. what I don't compromise on in this book is updating a chapter that I'm not satisfied in, so I keep pushing for that extra 10% in quality non stop.

I have written 5 books mate, each one longer than the whole harry potter series combined. The last thing anyone can do is influence me to change my plot. I love and respect my readers, so mass release, increasing pacing and all that is possible. but plot direction will always remain my own.
