For future problems, why don’t you print the new drafts so, if a new mistake happens again, you won’t lose anything. This is what I do for my stories. Or you can write your drafts on Google docs. This way you will never lose the draft as long as you don’t forget the password that is. I hope this advice is helpful for you.
