I think we know now how vorden seems to instantly know any ability he gets his hands on. If the chained contract states every 50 years the families have to give up their most powerful member and they keep them alive on the island then they effectively have some of the most powerful teachers of the ability.
I definitely internally battle when it comes to which story I like more but for the most part this one wins out. I know in part because I love the medieval style stories but also because he only releases one chapter a day I feel he puts more into the overall development of the story and the characters.
it's awesome to see that even after living a lifetime as Vincent and becoming even more jaded than he already was that Quinn is rediscovering his compassion and humanity, so even though he isn't ranking up or getting immensely more powerful in a physical sense he is learning valuable leadership lessons in a condensed timelime.
he's gonna beast out super hard if he has both right... and then he won't need to worry about the vamp council or the big three, he'll be what Arthur couldn't be, not just the bridge between worlds but the leader of both vampires and men.
he's still coming into his own im sure he'll get there but yes he has shown a lack of leadership here, acting more like a dejected child than a leader because he's worried about being alone more than about the good of his team or of the mission
