It’s not a theory. When he defeated Conquest it was explained that because Conquest only found joy in death he didn’t have adrenaline for his fights, whereas Mark was fighting for everything he holds dear. I can’t remember who said it but it’s a genuine panel in the comics explaining Mark won from adrenaline
