if we think about this realistically. could be either of two things. 1) They don't want to be indebted to another kingdom. 2) they want to have the heroes (strong people) that feel indebted to them. that way, they have more power and can do more things. something like that. political if they can get a stronger bloodline then their kingdom becomes stronger.
