reminds me of Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint, where the novel Kim Dokja was reading Three Ways to Survive a Ruined World(?) for 10 years till it ended.

not to mention his close likeness to Ash when mega evolved. there are also pokemon that can only evolve after reaching specific affection levels. Sylveon being a example. let's not forget Ash's pikachu which is way stronger than normal

she is kinda canon as she showed up in the manga.
