Mate, Damien probably wasn't going all out. He was likely just keeping sengoku locked in place whilst xebec is dealt with. As the author stated, this isn't about Damien but xebecs demise. You've also got to take into account that sengoku was still in his prime and is a powerhouse in his own right. Even if Damien was going all out he'll still walk away with the experience of fighting sengoku and how to improve his abilities for future fights.

Would be cool if the MC unlocked the same body constitution as Blackbeard allowing the MC to absorb another fruit such as xebecs fruit when he dies. Destruction and death sounds pretty sweet to me, well pulverize and death.

Not really a mha or dc fan so I'd go with pokemon. But that depends on storyline, starter pokemon and other factors.
