Amazing novel, cool character, awesome world-setting and literally the only novel I've read that explains supernatural powers using science. However, the translation is a bit scuffed but it's barely noticeable in some chapters. As for the main character, he always keeps winning. Although that's not necessarily a bad thing, I would like our Lucien Evans over here to suffer some setbacks. And the ending is too abrupt, it ends too suddenly and the villain passes away too miserably. I did not quite like that part of the novel, the author should've at least made it challenging to beat the Pope or introduced some obstacles. Lucien Evans and the Congress of Magic had it way too easy.

Great world building and character development. Although some parts are hurried like the Criminal District "arc" and a lot of things are missed such as the part where MC joins the Long Gang, it's still a great story nonetheless. The power system "Qi", although is not unique, is still comprehensive and interesting. I love the paths part ("wind-path", etc...) because it makes the story fun to read and adds in unpredictable elements. It leaves a lot of room and leeway in the future for the author to introduce bizarre and fun paths. The character Ximen Wei is a bit conservative but he is smart and takes risks when his life is put ont he life. I love how the feelings of loneliness and despair are amplified in this novel because such emotions are not stressed enough in the other counterparts, when someone finds himself in an alternate world, the feelings of nostalgia and homesickness will certainly overwhelm his mind, which is exactly what happened in Space Mage. Overall, this is a great novel and I'm looking forward for future updates.

Just the stories of his "dungeon" were enough to instill fear in the hearts of the common people and make children cry all night long. The terror of Song Peizhi's dungeon could be seen in Jin Bao's actions. Nightmares haunted the poor boy as he used to wake up every night, sobbing quietly in the corner. Now, Ximen Wei was going to visit that same dungeon. The thought of it made him shiver with fear, knowing that he might not come out alive or the same person. He felt a cold sweat break out on his forehead as he imagined the endless possibilities of what horrors awaited him in that dungeon. I love it when novels embed monumental buildings like the Tower of Justice into their world building, it makes it resemble real life greatly.

The quality is superb, amazing world building, great attention to details and especially the environment. The main character's personality is passable and in fact, relatable to some point. Love the humour where multiple highkey chess figure's names were used such as Magnus Carlsen and Paul Murphy. I'm very excited to see where this novel is headed to.
