Yeah merry was the first time I ever cried over a anime, Ace’s death made me cry and depressed for like two days, but it wasn’t because Ace died but because of what Luffy went through to save him, only for him to die in his arms. It was especially frustrating and impactful for me because I was binging from water 7 arc, and it only felt like L after L leading up to Luffy’s breakdown.

The manga does not mention if it a completely different ability but Orochimaru does mention she has a unique sensory ability, the only connection is Mito another Uzumaki which has the minds eye of the Kagura of course Mito was much better, but we don’t know if it is because Mito is just stronger or because her clan was still alive and had more experienced trainers or just because of Kurama or a mix of them all.

But Karin can sense emotions based on chakra, and she has nothing to do with nine tails. I think nine tails just amplifies that ability.
