you just know this guy has been thinking of his chuuni name since forever.
the characters are by far the strongest part about this story. Every single character, even one off passing NPCs, are given one or two details that instantly make them so much more memorable and likeable than other standard webnovels. The cheeky back and forth relationship between the protagonist and his mentor is by far my favorite, their banter as they joke and tease one another is just so much fun. the characters truly breathe life into the story and the world in a way not all webnovel writers can pull off. MC's powers as a nephilim feel good to see him use. Time control, Space manipulation, healing and summoning the undead... it's both strong and yet not so strong that all challenge is sucked from the story. overall, this story made me care about the characters in a way I was surprised to see come out of a story like this. even during scenes that on paper seem a little too tropey and predictable to make me really care, the author still managed to get me emotionally invested in what happens next. it's a webnovel that, although not a genre-defining, never-before-seen masterpiece by any means, truly stands out in quality amongst it's peers.
ah yes. "humble"
man -- it isn't even his fault!
though, his parents did leave a note saying they'd know if he skipped school.....
the language game of telephone strikes again.... Japanese name, translated into Chinese, which is then translated into English
let's be real, androgyny is HOT 🔥🥵
don't people in China wear white for funeral procedures instead of black?
well, think about it this way. the recovery pod works by accelerating the body's natural healing, right? cancer happens when the DNA a cell has messes up big time, and causes that cell to rapidly and erratically multiply. those cells build and build and build, forming a tumor. it's more than just an illness, it's your body's natural processes working against yourself! on top of that, if not every single one of the cancer cells are dealt with, those leftover cells have a chance to regrow another tumor. healing cancer is tough work! even if the recovery pod could affect the tumor, it'd probably do the opposite of healing and instead accelerate the growth of the tumor.
seatbelts, everyone!
a guy with dyslexia, and a girl with ADHD..... Im excited to see how MC accommodates them
even better, "shān (山)" is just the Chinese word for mountain. it truly is Mt. Tai...
A well paced hidden gem. The cliche subversion, on top of being fresh, is surprisingly well reasoned and logical. i was surprised by several of the choices made by the protagonist, but upon hearing the reasons why instantly made sense. I was impressed that the MC thought of something that made perfect sense in post, but in the moment I'd never once considered! Its a really good service cultivation novel. Each and every side character is not only unique enough to remain memorable despite the large cast, but makes the world feel like a living and breathing universe. the world goes on with or without the main character, he is never once feels like the center of the universe. The worldbuilding really adds to this sense of place within the story. despite the massive, universe-wide scope, the setting never feels underdeveloped or reliant on stereotypes. It feels like a place where people live their lives outside of the main plot. On top of this, I found out within one of the paragraph comments that the author apparently has an excel sheet they use to keep track of the point numbers???? That's some incredible dedication to keeping the numbers accurate, one that while subtle definitely adds to the realism of the story. the only reason it doesn't have as many reviews and what not as it should is that the book is literally 4 months old at the time of me writing this. with time there's no doubt it'd get the recognition it deserves
this made me laugh so hard
