My theory: If the attacked towns that were near each other then all of the sorcerers (the good ones) could be sent to that area. By attacking towns that are far from each other, it forces the good sorcerers to be spread thin. Thus guaranteeing a more likely victory.

I realized during the next chapter what was going on. BTW I'm like a whole lot of chapter after this now and I have to say this story is amazing. the grammar needs some help but honestly It doesn't even matter to me because the story itself is so good. bravo, author!
