But it is not a retcon. The author clearly states that in order for the system to function the host must plant the seeds or saplings himself and raise the plants in order to get a reward. There are many examples in the text of him raising plants and not getting rewards from the system in the text. To say that this is a plot hole even though there is no text saying that he was the one who planted the first batch, and many reasons for him not to get a reward even if he raises plants is just incorrect. the text only states that he sold a batch of plants not that he personally planted and singlehandely raised them. The is no plot hole, or contradiction. There are multiple ways for the MC to have not fully planted and raise the first batch such as his neighbor, who is stated in the text to help the MC greatly when he first moves in, showing the MC how to grow the plants inadvertantly invalidating the plants in the eyes of the system. The property could have also been bought with the plants already planted, as I stated before, but I think is now a bit unlikely.

I mean sure, but the text does say that his neighbor helped him a bunch so that would be another reason. Just ignoring logic and many plausible explanations to say that it is a plot hole and the story is bad or low quality because of a certain bias is a bit tasteless.

not a plot hole the system activated because he planted care for and harvested the plant. If someone else planted the first batch and he just cared for and harvested the plants the system would not have activated and he would have sold 1 batch of herbs before.
