Addendum: For clarification, I started reading the manga as well, and found he is *not* planning on clear cutting the forest to plant a new one. He is planning on setting aside a portion of his already cleared land to start a tree farm. I retract my complaint and offer a kudos instead.
I read the manga past this point, and it reinforced the point that he wants to chop down the forest, to plant a forest, to avoid deforestation. Ars is the only person clear cutting the forest, and the only person causing the damage. It isn't the lumberjacks. I don't understand why this is a good thing, and why he wants to do it.
TL: fangs should be tusks.
Nope, it's yours.
Yup.
So is a destroyed forest. Sorry, TL, I was enjoying the story a lot up till now, and I think you did a great job. I just have a huge issue with this very common, and human-centric, attitude.
Well, you did destroy their home and food source.
And this is why royalty the world over kept the forests as their exclusive domain: to keep them from being destroyed by short sighted fools. Nobles had an insane number of faults, but they, at least, usually looked at things through a generational lens, not for immediate gain.
I don't think it's the wildlife that's being a nuisance. They aren't ripping everything up for a few coins.
