This is inaccurate. Anyone who can afford a landscaping company to work on their house is rich and lives in a rich neighborhood. These neighborhoods have rules on noise at specific times. Usually 8pm. No cap, cops patrol some of these areas if there was a complaint filed.
Unless the weather prevented it, Thomas would wake up around 5:30 AM Mon-Sat. After that, he would go to work mowing people's yards, topping off their trees, trimming their shrubs, mulching gardens, and laying down grass pallets. The company I was in had it like this: Monday-Tuesday-Saturday special jobs. Wednesday-Friday maintenance. Special jobs tended to be hard work as you need to uproot trees, shovel and move gravel, and plant big trees. Maintenance is mowing lawns, picking up leaves, using the weed eater, trimming, etc. Overall, not back breaking work always. I would say construction is true back breaking work, but it may depend on the landscaping company.

This is just a smart wordplay of saying that you can get an 'answer' that is the truth, but if you don't like the truthful answer, you would give another 'answer' that seems logical but isn't the truth.
