As he said, it may be some form of Psychological warfare strategy from an enemy, he doesn't know what they are truly capable of 3. Calling it an ambush doesn't change anything within the story .... Also if you suddenly grow taller when sleeping and then see what is essentially a dead body by your bedside the next day when you wake up You would think that the dead body is you? Its not making him dumber... It's making him realistic... Only someone who knows what is exactly happen would see such a thing and think that it is their body that was shed. A normal person with a clear opponent, would think that it is the doing of the opponent Especially when considering that he, himself had being unable to sense the creatures in the first place

Then later on due to the dangers, they began to mix it with other metals so that no one apart from them will have access to pure Nth Metal And Thanagar itself is somewhat out of sync with the rest of universe. .. At least it used to be In recent times.. They just show that Thanagar is basically a no go area for everyone in the universe because the Thanagarians are very hostile ppl to others

Darkseid's power is that he is a New God 'The Omega Effect or Beams' is like the Anti-life equation Certain requirements have to be made before you can acquire them. 1. You have to be the embodiment of Evil or Tyranny... Darkseid and Yuga Khan embody Ut perfectly 2. As the other person commented below, it seems to be tied to just them or the throne of Apokalips since Lex was able to acquire it when he was ruler of Apokalips
