probably meant master, as in teacher. that can be abbreviated the same way as mister. at least it can according to other readers in a different book, where I also questioned it's use once.

changing the names to English ones is cute and all, but, in American English at least, we don't typically use a person's full name once we have gotten to know them better. these people were her "friends" for several years, so it is unlikely she would be thinking of their last names all the time like this. it should just be Liam, Renee, and so on. or you can just keep the original names. readers will figure it out.

Several times so far the words referring to the concept of "dote on someone" (doting and doted) have been misspelled. The words being used (dotting and dotted) refer to dots, such as the dots that form an ellipsis... Just pointing it out so maybe someday it will get corrected.
