wELL, Xephiz finished out his university classes and graduated, and is on to bigger and better things. This was just a side gig to make money for him. I worked with him, so I have no relevance. This is one of the bigger stories on the site, so when no new chapters got posted, they took it away and gave it to another translation team. I was never contacted since they don't value editors here. (shrugs) Nothing I can do about it. I guess working on a story for 2000 chapters or whatever doesn't mean much, right?
Interesting. Xeph and I actually translated up to this chapter. I wonder why they weren't posted and they went with the new people? You can tell they aren't edited well when Mu bai <- isn't capped right at the start and so forth. Heh! Oh well, Here's hoping the story moves forward. After editing it for all those chapters, I really do want to read how it ends, but now it's all locked behind the paywall. :/
Likely not. The translator business is really dying off nowadays, and editing is the first thing to go. Heck, they're thinking that a translator can just use Google and then 'correct' that mess to get a good novel out of it, as good as having an editor. It basically comes down to money, and Webnovel doesn't want to pay. (shrugs). I'm helping out with Abe the Wizard (almost done) and another series where the editor is sick. But this job will likely be gone within six months.
These new chapters were done by me and Xephiz, but I've been removed as the Editor on Webnovel here. You'll know when our chapters are done by when our names aren't at the top. Thanks to everyone who followed the novel all this time, and best of luck to whoever is picking it up.
I've tried editing Google translate before, and it's an incomprehensible mishmash to me once it comes out. The terms and the names are all f'd up, anything contemporary or slangish is like wut?, and it's just a no-go. They basically want translators who know how to edit so they don't have to pay twice, and they want it yesterday and free, to boot. Eh.
He's in Australia. I dunno if he's burned out on university, working on this for over two years, or what. I've not heard back from him about any plans or anything. Tofu (original translator Xephiz replaced) has been looking into getting another one for the final chapters. This is one of the few novels his firm is still getting paid to translate (webnovel wants to go to Google or something instead of pay TL's and editors).
