as novel reader I think he did not wrong however as a rational person I do feel killing is not the answer, he could have let them be coz he already made sure they pay for their crime with their demotion moreover they are prideful nobles so for them to demotion with their wealth and power gone is already a heavy outcome so watching them try to survive is good choice...
