I found laughable how morals take the most of some people and they justify their cultural and environment morals (like the concept of super ego of Freud) as being more realistic (more talking about romance, wich began as a fantasy and it's a concept created and in constant change, like love), from the Japanese owner of a bar who got a voice actress begging for his attention although he had other 5 women (and she had a boyfriend) to some countries where polygamy is permitted if the partners are treated in equality, or even historical harems, polygamy is pretty realistic as the mainstream concept morally permitted of love. The heck, even guys knowing Amber Heard was on a relationship had laid with her or the thing about Aya Hirano and her band harem. Just because morals, environment or your social circle don't have some things it doesn't mean it doesn't happen or that it isn't real, it just mean how big is the picture that you are allowed or willing to see. So I think both harem or a single partner are equally realistic and valid, on the contrary is like saying that homosexuality isn't realistic because only some 2% or so of population like 10 years ago was like that, or that an old wuxia or Mexican movie isn't realistic because it doesn't have half repart of afro-americans in it.
You sure are a "pain in the butt", I mean some people even at the end of highschool haven't seen the sea even once, or a black people ever depending on the place they live, even if it's a capital of a country. In my case the last time I saw a genuine black person was 13 years ago in a tourist spot near a beach, Ren wasn't to that many places and even traveling he always minded his own business. Yeah, the author is still learning but this has nothing to do with that.
funny how this make me re read to find was because my brain skipped it XD
