Even that red-headed princess who blames everything on Shadow Garden and not the cult seems right in a sense because every action that happens is under his control. You listen more to Cid, so you believe his way of viewing the world is the most honest and correct one, but he is crazy. Why would you believe anything he says?

i think you misunderstand. the mc has a duel persona that makes you think he is playing around but really he is manipulating everything from the shadows. i think every misunderstanding is only there to throw off the reader and projecting the troupe back at us.
