I left a review for the story itself that explains the obvious plot hole. But summed up, you are ignoring the fact they have been forcefully taken from the world and returned home twice now, and should that happen again, they'd be right there next to each other. Not to mention, the girls actually know he is alive cause the queen told them, so theyd know to return and leave a note. The only thing holding this semi together is the fact they can't leave the world with an active quest, which wouldn't be hard to manipulate, not to mention the fact that they can just ask other people to leave a note too.
Err huge plot hole here. They can just return to their world when not on quests. Not to mention the likelihood of the world forcing them to leave due to an event on earth like the giants is high. Seriously author, if you wanted to break Aren up from the group, you should of thought I through more than this.
That's a counter intuitive line. Even with power, you still can't afford kindness. It could be used against you in so many ways. So you'll forever be in search of more power to allow a kindness you will never use. The trick is to only allow a kindness you have the power to back. Thus making our Mcs mindset and actions needlessly cruel in pursuit of the impossible. Be kind where you can, and ruthless where it is needed. Moderation, as in everything in life, is key.
If he was smart with the other murder, this wouldn't be a problem. He would have the healer ranker with him who could vouch for him. Instead, he mindlessly murdered her. This party was respectful to other rankers so this fight wouldn't have happened. So stupid.
Since the goal was Dom's slime, I understand him dying to get it. However, Elena's death was both pointless a potentially dangerous. She was asleep. She would have helped prove his story about Dom going back into the cave alone, and thus explain his disappearance easily. Now there's two missing people and he was seen going with one of them. He will have to make a story up about this whole thing and it will be questionable. After all, the longer a lie, the more its likely to have holes.
I feel the need to clarify that I gave character design and story development a 1 star rating and the other three 5 stars. hence the rating despite my negative review. I'd also like to point out there is a lot of potential, world building is fantastic, and a lot more I'd like to complain about, but no one wants a story review for the story lol.
I don't understand the 5 star reviews. The book is a one trick pony so to speak. Story progression goes basically as follows; Characters cry over trauma, comfort each other, basic survival and travel, desperate fights involving plot armor, weak-willed characters, and the same fight gimmicks such as hammering a weapon in multiple times, stupid mobs, and supposedly "clever" outwits that honestly shouldn't work on anything that thinks things through even just a bit. Rinse and repeat.
You genuinely would be hard pressed to find a more weak-willed and soft minded MC. No control of his emotions and apparently his own body. Still throwing up and losing focus and control in the face of violence or death, despite witnessing and taking part in it multiple times. So frustrating to read.
You genuinely could not have done a better job ruining a story trying to force growth on your characters and world. Well done. I am impressed with how quickly I've grown to not want to read anymore. Death for forced growth makes for poor plot. And revival scenes are nearly impossible to make good with how poorly this has all gone.
