Just thought but who is paying for the "four stages higher" punishment? If it's the same stage, you could argue that the punished is paying with their own cultivation base. But where does the excess power come from? The "Worldly Daos" aren’t exactly known for their generosity outside the cultivation path itself. Why would any external force expend more energy than it gains just because some mortals signed a contract among themselves?
