How about something cool like a tiger, wolf, lion, or fox. I feel that if you give her a summon that wasn't seen in the original than you could do more than if you used a canon summon. Then you could do something interesting with that summon's sage mode if you want to give the MC a sage mode.

I have a suggestion on a power you could give him if you run out of ideas, Gojo Satoru's Infinity. The series is Jujutsu Kaisen if you don't know it then I highly recommend watching it because it's a really good series but it is a bit on the horror side in case you're not good with horror.
