But it's been mentioned there are different forms of sorcery. Nephis is learning one by using the true names of the elements. Sunny is learning to weave, then there's the use of runes, and then whatever noctis used that certainly wasn't weaving

One of the reasons I love this novel and am considering reading guilty 3s other works is the use of lesser known words. Daedal (dee-dull) is a new word I will strive to remember and use (in appropriate company hahaha)

Though he has said sensing shadows underwater is difficult at best. If something attacked from underneath and he couldn't deactivate it in time it would be a soul attack for no reason other than hubris. Which sunny doesn't have.

He assumes not that's why it's just a holder instead of something he would have to remake every time he wanted light... This way hr can just put the orb back in the holder and be done
As for lighting, he still had a dim luminous orb which he made a little wall-mounted holder for by the door. He would’ve preferred to embed it in the ceiling but he knew it would just fall out once he used living blueprints to store the room. I think because mordret can mirror abilities if he's hitching a ride with sunny he can turn to shadow too
