yea but normal humans can beat people up even if they've only killed things the size of mosquitos, no ones, or atleast im not really expecting him to take lives in this fight. nor would it really be smart. I think this fight was badly scripted in such a way that made him seem weak atleast in terms of protecting his daughter. maybe you wanted him to seem more reactive to her attacks rather than offensive and foolhardy, but it looked more unwillingness due to lack of courage. So he, atleast to readers seemed undecisive/pacifistic when he could have ended the fight. maybe you could have explained better during the fight but from my perspective he seemed scared and hallow with a lack of regular emotions. Most "regular" humans aren't scared to hurt something bigger than a mosquito, especially if their loved one might be taken away.

I think readers want mc to be a little more "active", or just less pacifistic and defensive. well ATLEAST in regard to his DAUGHTER being threatened. I mean cmon it was a bit disappointing that the fight looked like a stalemate that was ended singlehandedly by the landlady. We know he's stronger than his opponent, but to any spectators? No it looks more even than it should have. To me it seemed like it followed the Chinese trope of being low key, needlessly fighting at the other person's level even if they antagonize them. No one really expects him to torture/kill the lady but to me it looked boring and it seemed like the mc was just reacting to her attacks rather than taking initiative and ending it sooner. Your reasoning is that its not in his personality, well to me it seems a bit out of character that mc would basically let her off with the equivalent to a slap on the wrist after THREATENING to take away his daughter? Even just a "solid blow" to show her that she shouldn't mess with his family would have satisfied me rather than the back and forth it seemed like.
