Just found this hidden gem of a story while sifting through all the refuse on this site. Excellent story progression. Excellent editing (super rare). System isn't too OP so there is actually risk for the MC. He's also not the only one with a system. While it's not as good as The Mech Touch (best novel on this site), it's better than 99% of the other books on here.
I think this may be another clue that Cassandra Breyer is his grandmother. If Lucky's gems' description correlates to what he eats, then eating all that Breyer alloy combined with the latest gem description would paint the persistent ghost as a loving mother who cares for her offspring. Perhaps she's drawn to Ves by their blood connection.
Is it his grandmother? Maybe when his mom fled from the compact, the rest of her family was seen as traitors too? Maybe his grandmother was forced to flee also or was captured and jettisoned out into space in nothing but an escape capsule? I can only think of 2 reasons why she would haunt Ves in particular. Either she's drawn by the metal scroll or she's drawn by a blood/spiritual connection like his mother was on the glowing planet.
Kaladin_of_Brdg_4: This is the best novel not only on this site, but any site. The world-building is simply insane! The characters have unique personalities. The MC changes over time in a realistic manner due to the events he experiences. The attention to detail when designing the mechs is crazy good. Yes, the novel is slow-paced but for good reason. As mentioned before, the world-building of this novel is on another level. The system seems OP at first but it has limitations that become more profound as the novel goes on. This is my favorite novel out of the hundreds I've read on various sites over the years.
