This shrinking and increase in gravity doesn't ring true to me. I'm pretty sure gravity is dependent on mass alone not density.
There would be mutual attraction between any objects, and the strength of this force would depend on the mass of the object. When this rule was applied to gravity, this meant that the higher the density of a celestial body, the greater its mass; thus, the gravity produced would be stronger.
