On a rainy night a certain drunkard and some dirty cop crossed paths, marking the start of a deadly cat and mouse game.

Everyone continued deeper into the castle.
As expected, they met zombie girls again… five of them!
Seiji gripped his magic longsword tightly and activated its defense-piercing mode, preparing for combat.
He wasn't going to fight all five of the zombie girls alone. He would do this together with his companions.
Three… two… one.
*Rip!*
Seiji and Matsutani simultaneously broke through the paper door and into the wide room.
The pudgy middle-aged man tossed out five magic grenades that he earlier prepared!
The zombie girls instantly reacted and blocked the grenades with their weapons.
*Boom boom boom…* There was the sound of simultaneous explosions.
Three of the magic grenades had been successfully deflected, while two successfully exploded on the zombie girls!
The two zombie girls that took the magic grenade attacks started glowing yellow, and their movements were temporarily sealed.
Seiji speedily rushed towards one of them and sliced the zombie girl in half!
Whoosh! The chill of steel thrust towards Seiji.
It was the spearhead of a long spear.
The zombie girl standing next to the sliced-in-half zombie girl was wielding a long spear. She immediately started attacking Seiji after successfully deflecting the magic grenade. Her attacks made her seem like a flowing dragon, and she aimed directly for Seiji's head!
*Thud!*
Her spear was blocked by Seiji's [Evolved Mana Barrier].
The zombie girl withdrew her spear and began a new barrage of attacks!
Seiji blocked the attacks with his sword and retreated.
At the same time, the other two zombie girls that were still capable of movement started attacking Matsutani. Their weapons were dual swords and a naginata. Both zombie girls were extremely fast!
The moment they rushed at him, Matsutani activated another spell that he had previously prepared. A large diamond-shaped spell formation instantly appeared on the ground!
The dual-sword-wielding and naginata-wielding zombie girls instantly stopped in their attacks and changed to rolling on the ground in an effort to dodge this spell.

The magic grenade's sealing effect faded and this zombie girl lifted her longbow and shot a swift arrow towards Miyabi and Yuuko!

A magical shield sent a blue shielding light around them and blocked the arrow.
This shield wielder was Nomura.
Nomura, who was still only a college student, had a rather pale face. However, his expression was resolute and he showed no signs of fear.
The longbow-wielding zombie girl shot out several arrows in succession!
Nomura continued lifting his shield to block the arrows while he did his best to conquer the fear in his heart and solidly stand in front of his two female companions, Miyabi and Yuuko. He didn't budge a step.
*Boom!*
One magical crossbolt fired by Miyabi managed to successfully hit the longbow-wielding zombie girl's head.
She was now in a state of enhanced concentration, and the cat ears on her head were stiff and vertical. Her cat eyes shone with a fierce glint that helped her to clearly see her target.
*Boom! Boom! Boom!*
The second, third, and fourth shots landed… Miyabi was able to successfully land four consecutive crossbolts on the zombie girl's head!
The longbow-wielding zombie girl collapsed on the ground.
Immediately thereafter, Matsutani's demon hammer smashed down on the zombie girl!
Ya-chan also added in a final attack for its cat onee-san.
*Crack!!*
Seiji forcefully withstood the spear-wielding zombie girl's attacks, losing his barrier in the process as he slew her.
All five zombie girls had now perished.
His entire team had won unscathed!
"Beautiful. Everyone did a great job," Seiji gave his sincere praise.
The plan they'd come up with was more successful than they had anticipated when they finally put it to use.
Nomura and everyone else smiled in delight at their first successful victory as a team.
"Ishihara-san was so amazing! Her accuracy suddenly went up by so much," Yuuko praised Miyabi.
"It was just a coincidence… We should be thanking Nomura-san for protecting us," Miyabi said.
"I merely held up a shield and stood still," Nomura stated. "The truly amazing ones are the three on the frontlines."
"Yeah, Harano-kun was mega-cool, and Matsutani-senpai and Ya-chan were cool as well." Yuuko paused for a moment. "I feel like the most useless one here is me."
"That's right, Hashimoto-san, which is why you should work hard and serve everyone here as a maid!" Matsutani acted all seriously about it. "Right now, I'd like a massage…"
*Pound!* Seiji elbowed the pudgy middle-aged man in the stomach to have him shut up.
"You're going a bit overboard with the jokes. Please don't mind him, Hashimoto-san."
Yuuko blinked cutely at this.
"It's okay if he wants a massage from me. However, I'm not very skilled at giving massages, so it's quite possible I might accidentally use too much force and injure him." The author Yuuko chuckled.
Seiji and everyone else were all temporarily rendered speechless.
"Cough, er, let's stop joking around and continue progressing." Seiji changed the topic. "We did a great job just now. But, that doesn't mean that all the upcoming battles will be so easy. Let's all remain on guard."
Although those five zombie girls were powerful as well, they weren't on the level of the zombie girl that Seiji previously faced by himself. Nor did they have a cape and helmet like she did.
Seiji figured that the first one must have been one of the main characters, so there shouldn't be many zombie girls on her level. That helped to reassure him, but he knew that he still needed to remain vigilant.

A beautiful teenaged female domain lord who was in dire straits happened to pick him up. This otaku then supported her as her smartphone in expanding her domain and managed to enjoy many gentlemanly benefits.
The judges' overall review of this story was that "There are many problems, but it's still overall a fun read. With some careful polishing, it has potential to become quite popular."
Natsuya Yoruhana knew absolutely nothing about the novels that had won Thunderbolt Literature's Newcomer Author Awards.
She knew that Seiji was currently participating in Thunderbolt Literature's Newcomer Author Awards ceremony tonight. She finally had some free time and was reading online about the light novels that won the awards when she received a call from Shika Kagura requesting her assistance.

"Apa katamu? Wah..., di hidupmu yang sudah tak lama lagi, kau masih sempat mengumpat?" Shandy yang mendengarnya, melirik sinis kearah Alex.

"Hidup siapa yang tidak lama lagi?"

"Kau. Melihat kondisi lenganmu yang seperti itu, kau pasti tergigit. Setelah virus itu sampai ke otakmu, membuat warna matamu hitam pekat, kulit pucat dan perut lapar, itu artinya kau sudah mati. Hidupmu sudah bukan milikmu lagi," jawab dokter klinik itu panjang lebar.

Alex menyimpulkan cengirannya, "Jadi, kenapa kau masih membiarkanku disini?" Ia masih merasa bisa bercanda dengan suasana santai di dalam klinik itu.

Setelah berjam-jam Alex terikat di kursi kayu, di dalam ruangan sempit seorang diri, akhirnya ia merasa lapar. Hoy, bukan karena ia berubah menjadi zombie kelaparan, tapi karena itu manusiawi. Perutnya terus berkomentar sampai akhirnya matahari meninggi.

"Apa kau sudah menjadi zombie?"  tanya Shandy yang tiba-tiba memunculkan kepalanya dari balik pintu.

Wanita dokter itu, jelas bukan dokter yang baik. Fakta bahwa Shandy yang dipecat dari pekerjaannya, membuat Alex tak percaya dengan julukan dokter di klinik.

"Zombie apa?" Alex menarik lengannya yang tak terluka, keluar dari ikatan simpul.

"Hey!" Shandy terkejut, melihatnya dengan mudah terlepas dari tali yang ia ikat kuat-kuat.

Selesai Alex melepas tali di tangannya, ia mengurai simpul yang melingkari perut, juga di tangannya yang terluka cukup parah secara hati-hati.

Agen A itu menghela nafas bosan, "Kalau kau mengikatnya seperti ini, orang sepertiku akan dengan senang melepasnya." Ia berdiri, berjalan dengan satu tangan memegang erat luka di lengan kirinya.

Shandy yang tertegun, mundur perlahan, "Hei, jangan coba-coba me-"

Belum selesai ia berbicara, Alex berjalan melewatinya, keluar dari ruangan sempit itu. Shandy pun tak punya pilihan, kecuali berjalan mengikuti dan mengawasinya dengan membawa-bawa tongkat infus.

"Apa kau yakin berada di tempat ini sendirian? Di luar pasti sudah berantakan. Bagaimana caramu bertahan?" tanya Alex yang baru saja duduk di atas sofa, lantai dua klinik itu.

Shandy tak menjawab, tatapan fokusnya terus terpancar, sedangkan tangannya terus di posisi siaga memegang tiang.

"Beri aku makan!" suruh Alex.

"Apa?"

"Beri aku makan atau aku yang akan memakanmu," jawab Alex bersama tatapan tajam mematikan.

Brakkk
Tiba-tiba saja, gobrakan terdengar dari balik pintu, membuat Alex berdiri dengan sigapnya. Makhluk-makhluk kanibal itu, sudah berkumpul di tangga depan pintu, sedangkan mereka berdua bertahan di lantai 2.

Alex menoleh perlahan ke Shandy di belakangnya, mengisyaratkan untuk kunci mulut dengan telunjuk. Ia segera berjalan perlahan menuju pintu berwarna putih itu, mengintip.

Sementara Shandy masih dengan kuat menggenggam tiang infusnya, Alex mengintip keluar dari lubang kunci. Terlihat, ada sekitar tiga orang di depan pintu, dan kemungkinan ada banyak lagi di lantai pertama.

Alex menoleh kearah Shandy, "Siapkan barang-barang penting! Bawa bahan pangan ke lantai atas!" suruhnya berbisik sangat pelan.

Shandy mengangguk mantap, pun segera berlari ke beberapa ruangan, memindahkan banyak barang ke lantai tiga.

Gedung empat lantai ini tidaklah besar.
Dua lantai di bawah adalah klinik, sedangkan dua lantai di atas adalah rumah Shandy. Karena itu, Shandy jarang pulang dari tempat kerjanya, meski tak satu pasien pun datang. Klinik itulah rumahnya.

Selesai dokter wanita itu memindahkan beberapa barang, hendak turun ke bawah, namun secara tidak sengaja menjatuhkan tiang infus yang ia letakkan di tangga.

Suara keras tercipta, menarik perhatian orang-orang gila di depan pintu. Mereka menggebrak keras pintu berkali-kali, membuat Alex ikut terkejut dan segera berlari menjauh.

Hingga akhirnya pintu terbobol, "Lari!!" teriak Alex yang kemudian berlari naik ke tangga menuju lantai atas, diikuti Shandy di belakang.

Belum sampai Shandy masuk ke pintu, salah satu orang menggila sudah hampir menangkapnya. Dengan gesit, Alex mengeluarkan pistol di saku,  menembak tepat di kepala zombie terdekat. 
Hal itu sempat membuat Shandy takut, tapi ia tetap berlari masuk bersama lelaki yang masih asing baginya.

"Jadi, apa kau dari BIN?" tanya Shandy yang sudah beberapa menit duduk di kamar.

Alex tak menjawab, ia masih berdiri di samping jendela, sambil mengintip keadaan luar di balik sela gorden. Karena bunyi tembakannya, zombie-zombie justru datang dan mengumpul di sekitar rumah Shandy.

"Jadi, kau bisa memanjat sampai ke lantai dua, karena kau memang terlatih. Bukan karena kekuatan khusus zombi?" tanya Shandy lagi.

Alex yang sejak tadi fokus mengamati suasana, pun segera beranjak dan menghempaskan tubuhnya ke sofa.

"Apa kau punya perban?" tanya Alex yang menoleh ke dokter wanita di depannya.

Shandy mengangguk, pun segera membuka almarinya, mengambil beberapa gulung perban. Ia memberikannya ke Alex yang sejak tadi menormalkan nafas yang tersengal.

"Terimakasih," ucap Alex yang baru saja menerima kain baju itu.

Shandy menatap pria bertubuh tinggi itu, melihatnya kesulitan mengikat lengan. Tanpa basa-basi, Shandy beranjak dari duduknya, meraih sekantong plastik berisi alat medis di meja, pun segera menarik kain yang hendak Alex ikatkan di lengan.

Baru saja Shandy hendak mengobatinya, namun terhenti ketika melihat kedalaman luka. "Bukankah ini harus dijahit?"

Belum sempat Alex menjawab, wanita itu berjalan pergi, mengambil beberapa barang di laci atas almari. Ia kembali ke Alex, bersama sekardus alat operasi yang sudah lama tidak digunakan.

"Dimana obatnya?" gumam Shandy yang menyadari adanya kekurangan. Ia berjalan bolak-balik, namun tak menemukan yang ia cari.

Alex melirik ke kardus alat di meja sebelahnya, "Itu sudah lengkap," ujarnya memberitahu.

Shandy menoleh, "Sudah lengkap, kalau kau tak memerlukan anestesi."

Alex menyandarkan kepalanya santai, "Itu tak masalah."

Karena keadaan, Shandy tak dapat keluar dari ruangan itu, tak ada pilihan selain menjahit luka Alex tanpa obat penghilang rasa sakit.

Ini pertama kalinya sejak Shandy tak lagi melakukan operasi, namun ia harus dengan tega melakukannya. Alex yang sudah menggigit kain dengan erat, menanti Shandy yang masih ragu.

"Cepatlah!" suruh Alex, pengucapannya tak jelas dibalik kain yang menyumpal mulutnya.

Shandy menghela nafas, pun segera mensterilkan luka dan memulai penjahitan. Alex yang mulai berkeringat, tangan kirinya terus menggenggam erat pegangan kursi, urat-urat dari lehernya pun nampak tegang, bersama giginya yang terus menggertak ke kain yang digigit keras olehnya.

Jarum mulai menembus kulit lengan Alex, pun bersambung ke ujung luka bagian lain, lalu diikat. Beberapa kali seperti itu, sampai akhirnya selesai setelah beberapa menit.
Shandy yang jantungnya berdebar sejak tadi, menatap Alex yang menyandarkan kepalanya lega, sudah tenang. Tanpa banyak membuang waktu, Shandy menutup jahitan luka dengan perban putih.

Pagi harinya, di ruangan pribadi Shandy yang gelap...

"Halo, senior, kau ada dimana sekarang?" Alex yang tengah menelepon, bertanya pada agen K yang entah ada dimana.

"Apa kau sudah lihat? Eksperimen itu benar-benar terjadi," ucap agen K yang suaranya terdengar dari speaker headset.

Alex berdiri di samping jendela, menatap keadaan luar, "Tempatku sudah dikelilingi orang gila sekarang. Apa yang harus dilakukan?"

"Agen A, kau harus bertahan untuk bersaksi. Semuanya berawal dari badan farmasi itu, dan kita harus mencaritahu solusi mas-"

Brakkk

Belum selesai agen K berbicara, suara gobrakan terdengar dari balik speaker headset Alex.

"Senior! Agen K!" teriak Alex memanggil.

"Agen A, Alex, bertahanlah! Aku akan segera menghubungimu!" ucap agen K yang kemudian menutup teleponnya.

Alex menghela nafas lelahnya, pun segera menghempaskan tubuh, duduk di sofa empuk dan beristirahat.

Suasana hening menjadi dunia mereka. Ruang kamar yang cukup luas itu hanya dihuni dua orang, dan mereka terus berpikir untuk bebas dari tempat itu.

Di luar kamar, ada lebih dari tujuh zombie yang menanti. Mata mereka berwarna hitam pekat, kulit putih dengan urat-urat biru keluar, terus mengeluarkan suara serak dari tenggorokan basah. Bercak-bercak darah yang menempel itu, mengganti warna cat dinding di beberapa bagian. Mereka yang terinfeksi, tampak terluka berat, namun tak merasakan apa-apa. Hanya kelaparan yang orang gila itu rasakan.

Dalam internet, banyak tertera berita, "Ibukota sudah benar-benar dipenuhi makhluk aneh yang bukan lagi manusia. Sejak hari Sabtu kemarin, kekacauan meliputi seluruh tempat. Presiden telah mengungsi di tempat yang aman, dan beliau menyampaikan..."

Alex yang tengah membaca notifikasi di HP, memutar video yang berisi himbauan pemerintah. Ia membuka rekaman internet itu. 

"Untuk seluruh warga, baik di ibukota maupun luar ibukota, diharapkan untuk terus berjaga. Apabila melihat orang yang bertingkah aneh, memiliki bekas luka gigitan, harap segera menjauh dan melapor." Suara pembawa acara berita itu, terdengar lirih, nampak berduka. Alex tetap melanjutkan video itu, ditonton juga oleh Shandy di belakangnya.

Sekarang menampakkan video langsung dari presiden. "Bagi yang masih bertahan di ibukota, saya mohon, mohon sekali, jangan putus asa dan tetap tinggal di rumah! Hindari orang-orang yang terinfeksi, mohon bertahan dan tetap bersabar. Saya harap, seluruh rakyat di negeri ini, mampu menghadapi keterpurukan yang-"

Handphone Alex mati sebelum video sampai ke menit-menit terakhir.

"Hei, videonya belum selesai," ujar Shandy dengan kesal.

"Baterainya habis." Alex berdiri dari duduk, "Dimana stopkontak?" tanyanya sambil melihat-lihat sekitar.

Shandy yang berdiri di depan, menggaruk kepalanya canggung, "Listrik baru saja mati, zombie-zombie di luar pasti merusak saklarnya."

Alex tercengang, "Aku menyesal telah memanjat rumah yang salah." 
Ia menghela nafas berkali-kali sepanjang hari, menambah suasana putus asa diantara mereka.

The American Shorthair glanced at Gaia's head and noticed the bruise that had swelled to the size of a bun. However, he remained expressionless as he shook his head and replied, "It's not swollen. From the looks of it, you're perfectly fine."
Suddenly, the male ragdoll, Caesar, craned his neck forward and took a look at Gaia's condition. He could not believe what Rakshasa had just said and exclaimed, "How is that not swollen …"
Before Caesar could complete his statement, Ares had already interrupted him by saying, "This is not swollen. He's just fat and has puffy fur."
"Really?" Caesar started scratching his own head and said, "Speaking of a headache, I have also been suffering from a slight headache for quite some time. Also, it feels as if I've forgotten about something."
Ares replied, "Your body is still not accustomed to the atmosphere in the Village of Dreams which explains your headache."
"That's right, Caesar. You should really spend some time training your body. Even Diana and I are fine. All you do is complain about your throbbing headache." Catherine threw a condescending look at Caesar before continuing, "We still have to thank Ares for taking care of us when you were unconscious."
Tears welled up in Caesar's eyes as he dashed forward to Ares and said, "Mr. Ares, thank you so much for taking care of my wife and daughter while I was unconscious. You will become my friend from today onwards."
"I don't think we are just friends." Ares raised his paw and started slapping him on his back. With his eyes fixed on Catherine, Ares muttered, "We are brothers."
While the two female cats were engrossed in the film, a beam of holy light poured down from the sky as a laptop slowly descended from the heavens. The laptop landed right in front of the group of male cats.
At the same time, Zhao Yao's voice rang in their heads.
"Everyone, it is time for the new mission."
"If you manage to complete this mission, you will stand a chance to enter the outside world."
"What?"
"We can finally leave this place?"
All the supercats' eyes sparkled with excitement when they heard the news of possibly leaving this place. Their eyes were glued to the holy light, the laptop and portable generator lying on the ground. This generator was something Zhao Yao had specially prepared for the extradimensional belly. It could provide up to 400W of electricity and was ideal for a place like the extradimensional belly with no source of energy.
A smile crept up Zhao Yao's face as he took a look at the laptop and announced, "This mission is very simple. I need you to get past the first stage of this game within a day."
As Zhao Yao's voice continued to echo in their heads, the supercats had already tilted their heads towards the screen in unison. Suddenly, a word started to appear, letter by letter.
Ares read out, "Diablo 2? What's the meaning of this word?"
The game that Zhao Yao wanted the cats to play was Diablo 2. The best way to lure these cats, which had only just received human-like intelligence, was to use a computer game.
This was the idea Zhao Yao had developed after seeing how addicted Matcha and Rice Cake grew after watching him play Mobile Legends and PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds.
"I'm going to turn the extradimensional belly into the best cat internet café. I will equip this place with the best facilities and turn it into a cat heaven."
The reason why he chose this game was that it did not require internet for them to play. Also, the long story mode would attract the cats' attention for a long time. The cats could even play together by using the Local Area Network.
At the same time, Ares, the leader amongst them had stepped forward to take on this challenge. With the mouse in his paw, he started playing his first computer game.
"Create your character?" Suddenly, seven characters appeared amidst the piles of fire, burning in the background. All the cats stared intently at the computer screen.
Ares randomly clicked on one of the characters and a muscular bloke with tattoos all over his body emerged from the shadows. He even had an ax in his hand.
"This guy is so muscular!" Excitement shot out of Ares's eyes as he clicked on another character and a female wizard emerged from the shadows. Her magic staff was even illuminated with a captivating glow. Ares mumbled, "This woman seems stronger than that guy."
Hence, Ares decided to go with the female wizard. After watching the introductory video, they had finally arrived at their first stop, Rogue Encampment.
Two hours later, Ares rapidly tapped against the mouse and shouted, "Press the skill! Press the skill!"
Fūjin had both paws pressing against the keyboard as he retorted, "You didn't even specify the skill? How am I supposed to know which to press?"
Suddenly, a zombie appeared on the screen as it slowly made its way towards them. Ares's chest tightened with fear as he shouted, "Use the fireball! The fireball!"
Bam!
The zombie collapsed under the intense flames of the fireball. Its body exploded and gave out a few coins and potions. Ares could not help but started beaming from to ear. He had no idea why but he felt an inexplicable satisfaction whenever he saw the zombie falling to the ground. It was even better than sniffing on catmint.
"The zombies are back!" Fūjin exclaimed, "Quick! Aim at them!"
Ares, which was responsible for the mouse, slid it across the floor and had a perfect aim on the zombie's forehead. Immediately, a few fireballs were shot out and burnt the zombie to crisp.
"Hey, it's some equipment! Pick it up and take a look!"
Ares immediately moved his mouse as their character stood over the armor. Suddenly, they started jumping up and down the place as they were overwhelmed with excitement, "Golden armor! It's a golden armor!"


"Let go of that kitty cat!"

A shooting star whizzed through the sky, causing countless super powers to appear on Earth.

However, the main characters that awaken during this phenomenon aren't humans, but cats...

During this event, this same thought appeared in the minds of countless cats: "Am I a god?"

Zhao Yao, an ordinary human, is the only person that can control these super cats.

TL's Intro：

Zhao Yao, the protagonist of the story, is the most ordinary man you could possibly imagine. Since graduating from college, he had been engulfed by his bureaucratic workplace and its toxic environment. To make things worse, he has neither a car, money nor a girlfriend. The only silver lining was his fat and lazy cat, Matcha, which provided a semblance of company and friendship.

However, things were about to change drastically for Zhao Yao and Matcha. One shooting star will transform their lives into anything but ordinary.

Chapter 2
Sunday December 2, 2012

(Third person limited POV)
Waking up not feeling the need for sleep he got up. 'What should I do today?' He walked towards the door and noticed that in the upper left part of his vision he can see two bars. One was red and the other was blue. Quickly remembering what happened last night he started to panic. In just a few seconds he started to calm down. He knew he should be worried about his mental health, but for some reason he quickly got used to it.
'Okay okay, first what the hell. Second, why Am I not panicking? I thought last night was a dream!' He thought harder about last night and remembered the perk Gamer's mind was the cause of him not panicking. Deciding to just accept, still not comfortable with him seeing bars in the corner of his vision. He went downstairs only to find his house uncomfortably quiet. Usually there would be yelling or his stepdad putting the TV too loud.
He looked around for his blue hoodie that he usually wore and found it on the couch, after he found the hoodie, he walked out the door and made his way to the library. In middle of his trip to the library to hopefully think over his life becoming a video game he heard a loud thump across the street in an alleyway. When he looked over, he saw what could only be described as one of most scarring things someone could see in their life. What he saw? It was a figure with rotting skin like what he would imagine what a zombie would like, hell you could even see some bone! The figure had one eye socket, tusks, and horns coming out the top at his head. The monster stood at least 7 feet tall. When Ivan looked at what the figure was holding, he saw that he was holding a club with spikes that were at least five inches long and 3 inches wide.
The rotting corpse was using his club to beat something. On the third time of the corpse bringing his club up and down he heard a faint meow. Terrified to see what he was watching, his legs started to shake. He let out a gasp when he saw the monster pick up a cat that looked like it was run over. Blood was coming out the cuts that the club made. The monster brought the cat up to his lips and in a matter of seconds he took a big chunk out of the cat. Seeing what the monster did to the animal he wanted to run, but for some reason, his legs refused to move.
He looked around in case anyone else was seeing this, but only found that no one was paying attention to the scene that was happening beside them. "What the hell is going on here?" The monster suddenly stopped the rest of the cat and turned his head. Once the monster saw him the monster dropped the cat and started to walk towards him. Feeling Gamer's mind doing its job his legs stopped shaking and a box appeared.

Quickly reading the box he picked accept. By the time he read the entire window and accepted the quest the monster was 8 feet in front of him. 'Why the hell is everyone ignoring the large beast in front of them!?' Not having enough time to think about it he started to run to his left. When he started to run, he noticed a yellow bar appeared at the bottom of his vision. Hearing a deafening roar and loud stomps coming from behind him he ignored the bar. He made his through crowds, random alleyways, and streets he eventually started to lose the corpse.
After making a few quick turns into random alleyways he saw his local library. He behind his shoulder only to see the beast turn the corner. 'C'mon only a few more feet!' When he was nearing the building, the yellow bar turned to gray. He started to slow down, worried that he might be caught and killed. He forced his body to run only a few seconds more.
When he reached the front of the building, he slammed into the door. Thanking whoever made the doors into the building a push door he immediately dropped to the ground. Not caring that he was getting weird stares from the people there he slowly pushed himself to his knees. He looked over his shoulder only to find the corpse was staring at him from one of the windows. He started to grin from ear to ear. Shortly after a box appeared.

When Ivan saw this, he giggled. He thought it was funny that he would probably never look at the world the same way again and yet it was like he was in a video game. When he finally managed to get back up on his feet a few more boxes appeared. 'The boxes are REALLY starting to get annoying now. Is there anyway I can turn them off?' Either way he still looked at the boxes.
Thanks to the repeated use of the skill Sprint it increased to Lvl 2 (34%)

'What does Dex stand for? I should've taken the tutorial when I had the chance.' Regretting his choice to skip the tutorial he made his way towards a desk and sat down. He remembered about the item he got from the quest. He wanted to see the stats of his new katana, but he forgot one thing.
'Wait how do I go to my inventory?'

After waking up in the middle of the night on his tenth birthday he found himself with box that says "Welcome to the Game! Click start to start your adventure!' At first he learns about the secrets of the world and tests the possibilities of his new powers. A year after discovering his powers he finds himself in a war against a demon who wants to fight the gods.

"Have you checked the Net for reports of other people like us?" I asked. He froze in the middle of packing our rucksacks into the trunk and cussed.
"No," he admitted. "I'm a complete dumbass. We don't need other people to get the word out about us. We can make a fucking video and upload it."
"That might not be a good idea," I replied, stepping in his path to stop him from getting in the passenger seat and accessing the car's laptop. I could see his hackles raise like he was about to start hissing like a pissed-off cat, so I threw up my hands, pleading for him to let me explain. "There are lunatics out there. If you start broadcasting about smart zombies, it's going to get worse than it already is. We need to keep our heads down and recon first. Isn't that what they said in our wilderness survival class? You never rush head-first into an unknown situation."
"That class was taught by assholes who were faking every word out of their mouths," Hanson replied through clenched teeth.
"True, but you have to admit it's stupid to put our faces out there when we don't know how people will react. If you upload a video to the world, we'll have the military trying to turn us into lab rats and we'll have regular civilians trying to ambush us everywhere we go."
"You don't know that."
"And you don't know if it'll do any good to tell people about us," I retorted. "We're both making assumption because neither of us knows shit. At least I'm trying to be cautious. Do you really think anyone is going to let us try to help them if they know we're half-zombies before we ever open our mouths? They'll shoot at us just to keep us away."
Hanson took a deep breath like he was about to continue arguing, then exhaled it and seemed to collapse in on himself. "Fine. We can't take the chance you're right. I just... I want to believe this happened to us for a reason. If it didn't, then what's the point?"
"I understand. I swear I do, but we have to weigh the risks. So no video or photos, okay? Why don't I drive us across town while you scour the Net for any mention of people like us. If you find some, it should be safe to leave messages. Just don't tell them our names or our current location or tell them anything about what we look like. We need to keep some anonymity. Think of it like secret identities."
The reference to acting like superheroes pulled a partial grin out of him and I took it as a win. We finished loading the car, then I took the wheel while Hanson took the passenger side. He immediately twisted the laptop in the dash to face him and started typing away on it. I listened with partial attention when I heard video playing, but I otherwise focused on getting us across town in one piece.
Driving wasn't a problem since I'd had my license for nearly two years, but it was difficult to pick a direction since I had no idea where I was going. I only had the faint memory of my singular trip through town as a roadmap. I didn't recall any major turns, so I simply pulled us onto the highway, pointed the car to the East according to the compass in the dash, and tried not to be freaked out by the lack of cars on the road. I told myself it was nothing to worry about.
The lack of zombies—that worried the shit out of me. In movies, there were always giant hordes of them, yet I hadn't seen more than a handful of shufflers lingering around. Where the hell had all the infected gone?
"This area is part of a literal dead zone," Hanson said after several minutes, having noticed the same thing. "You know how firefighters use bulldozers to dig a firebreak ahead of a brush-fire so it doesn't have anything to feed from? According to the news, they did the same thing with people. They came in and forced an evacuation starting several hundred miles ahead of the infected areas, moving people at gunpoint in places. Everyone from here to clear across Oklahoma was taken West while the infection was still spreading along the East Coast. That's why there aren't a lot of zombies hanging around. All we're seeing are the people who stayed behind or managed to get this far before their infection turned them."
"Isn't that good? It means the government is keeping things under control."
"That's what scares me. This is way too organized. Zombie movies always predict the collapse of the government for a reason—there's too much petty bureaucracy that would get in the way during a real emergency. Pulling back to the Rockies is understandable, but the creation of a No Man's Land of this size? We're talking entire states completely devoid of people now. That can't be done by normal means."
"What are you saying?"
"I think someone knew this was going to happen and they knew exactly what measures needed to be taken for our country to survive in the long run."
I opened my mouth to call him out for being a conspiracy theorist, but he shot me a glare. I shut my mouth without saying anything.
"I know it's pointless to think about that kind of thing right now," he continued. "And I know plenty of people are already trying to blame the government for letting this happen, but... fuck. What if they did?"
"Does it matter?" I retorted. "It's done. It's not like we can stop it and it's pointless to think about hunting down the culprit. Focus on things we can actually do something about. Did you find anything online about immunity or half-zombies?"
"I've found several who claim they were bitten and nothing happened, but so far they all seem to be hoaxes. One guy even posted an apology and showed the Halloween prosthetic he used to fake the picture he took. I also found a link to a guy who said he was immune, but then I found a news report saying he and other four guys were shot dead in the middle of filming a fake zombie attack inside the quarantine zone."
I scoffed. "Fucking idiots wanting their five minutes of fame."
"Yeah. I don't think they were in touch with reality. They'd been safe through all this. It's all a joke until you're face to face with it."
"Is there anything on people being changed like me?" I asked. "That'd be harder to fake than immunity."
"Actually, I have two possible hits. One is a forum post from a woman in Detroit. She was a teacher volunteering at her school's pop-up emergency care center when it was attacked. She fended off a few dead-heads and managed to get to a rooftop where she collapsed. Next thing she knows, she woke up with a pack of zombies sniffing around her like dogs. Since then, she claims they've been ignoring her. She lists heightened senses, bruising, and joint pain as side effects. The other person I found is an old guy in Nashville. Same thing—down two days, then woke up invisible to zombies. He posted a picture of himself and he looks just like you do. I'm going to message both of them and let them know they're not alone."
"No personal details. We don't know who else might be watching to see who contacts them."
"And you think I'm the conspiracy theorist," he snarked. "Don't worry so much. I'll be careful."
I sighed and turned my full focus back on driving. I realized too late I'd somehow gotten onto the Interstate and we'd actually left town instead of simply hopping across town. I kept driving, though, since we had no dedicated destination in mind. We could scavenge as easily in the next town as we could this one.
When we started to come up on another exit, I glanced over at Hanson and saw he'd fallen asleep with his hands on the keyboard. I decided to keep going. I ended up driving for nearly three hours straight, stopping only twice. The first time, I stopped the car to piss on the side of the road. Not because I actually felt the need, but because I realized it'd been hours since I'd done so. Thankfully, everything below my belt seemed to work fine, allowing me to check off 'bladder function' in the still-human column. At the same time, I had to check off 'lack of bladder cues' in the zombie column. I made a mental note to follow suit whenever Hanson needed a restroom in the future.
I stopped the second time when my legs began to stiffen from sitting for so long. I pulled over on the side of the road and decided to try out Hanson's suggestion of jumping jacks. I grumbled to myself as I forced myself to do fifty of them, but I had to admit they worked. By the time I got us back on the road, I felt almost normal again. There was merely the itty-bitty problem of not feeling tired at all. I tried to brush it off as lingering insomnia due to having slept for two days straight, but I knew it was more than that. Just like I hadn't felt exerted by our long walk into town, I didn't feel a need to rest at all. It was another check in the zombie column.
Was I alive? Was I undead? The more changes I cataloged within myself, the more unclear the answer became. Trying to figure it out distracted me. I almost didn't notice the change in my environment in enough time to hit the breaks.
"What the hell!" Hanson shouted, lurching awake in the passenger seat as I spun the car in effort to keep us from driving straight into a river. For an electric cop car, our vehicle had excellent steering and excellent brakes. I was able to pull a pinpoint U-Turn and drive us a safe distance back down the road, where I put the car into park and shut off the engine. "Was that—?"
"Yeah," I said, knowing I should be breathing hard after such a close call. Together, we got out of the car and walked to the end of the road. The interstate ended with a chunk of bridge hanging out over a massive river. The waters had to be half a mile wide and there was no way in hell we'd survive trying to swim across it. On the far side, we saw the type of view expected in the zombie apocalypse—cars piled up, right up to the edge of the river, and a few dangling over the edge of the bridge on that side.

For Daniel Bryant and Arthur Hanson, being bitten by a zombie isn't the end.  It's only the beginning.

Hours passed. The waiting was difficult for everyone. No one spoke, except for a few soldiers on duty, who occasionally distributed needs. Almost two hundred soldiers stood in and on the wall in small groups. When the news was finally received, observers gave the message at similar times.
"It's zombies!"
"Zombies are coming!"
"Their numbers are at least one thousand. But probably thousands. It may be five, even ten thousand!"
Two different groups were dispatched to the south and north sides of the town. Two scout groups, after examining the speed of the approaching herd, turned back to come to town. At that time, everyone in town who received the message breathed a sigh of relief.
"We can handle it." Relieved by the voice of Morsh, Eren decided to stay where he was temporarily sitting on the wall. After all, Zombies were stupid things that moved slowly and couldn't fly. The top of the wall would be the safest place during the collision.
Despite Morsh's anxious gaze, Eren wanted to stay on the wall. As the wait continued, the pain in his head and the feeling he received from the surroundings grew stronger.
"Are we sure it's a zombie horde?"
The soldiers below didn't hear it, but many on the wall heard Eren's question. Worried eyes locked on Morsh and Eren.
"What do you mean?"
Eren shook his head.
The headache got so bad. He was sure that the three pain-killers he took half an hour ago weren't working at all.
He smiled a little when he managed to light the cigarette in his hand despite a strong wind. "I haven't seen a zombie before. Yet, the feeling I get feels like it's not a zombie, it feels like an intelligent and predatory animal. I think we should be prepared for more."
Morsh took Eren with him and went downstairs. It was like a tunnel that Lara had previously used to take out the group on night duty. They entered a tunnel that was technically inside the town but went under it a lot. As they walked, the roads widened but became darker. They walked for a while and reached a room full of cages.
"There's one zombie inside that was caught the day Nihan died. We're still keeping it alive. There were a few more, but they're constantly being wasted on experimenting. The only useful thing about their bodies is making experiments for different fields. I even forgot that this was still here."
He let in Eren in a place where there were tables full of technological tools. It could even be a stylish underground office on Earth. Or a bank office without a window. But the zombie inside, which looked opposite of Hollywood movies style, spoiled the environment.
Eren approached the big cage and examined the zombie. It was acting more calmly than he expected.
"Don't get too close."
"Sure."
[Why would I do that?]
As Eren got closer just a step or two, the zombie suddenly turned his head as if it could smell him! It was like a horror-movie scene. His eyes were, contrary to what was expected, normal human eyes.
There was little bruising on his skin, but it looked very much like a normal human being. The redness in the zombies' eyes wasn't even as exaggerated in the movies. It just looked like the bloody eyes a normal person would have when not sleeping for two days.
Besides, it didn't even smell as bad as books said.
As Eren approached, the zombie made sudden moves. It was clear that it was examining the place where it could extend its arm through the bars. When Eren stopped just at the border, the zombie thought it would stretch out its arm and catch Eren as if it was a very clever move.
There were simple expressions on the zombie's face, but they were very childish and basic level.
"Isn't it like a child? Like a 1-2 years old child who can't speak and has no logic except hunting." Morsh was serious, but there was also a relief in his voice that found this comforting. The fact that these zombies weren't clever, seemed to be what this commander enjoyed the most in this world.
Eren weighed the sensation he got from this zombie and threw the almost-finished cigarette from his hand. He took another one when he shared his opinion.
"The ones coming from the outside are maybe zombies. But the feeling I get is definitely not from a zombie!
What I feel is the same feeling I get from that wild cat. We are dealing with a beastly hunter. This zombie has a humanoid and empty feeling. But it is certainly not beastly.
Morsh, I think you should prepare for more."
The handsome commander nodded and reached for the cigarette pack in Eren's hand. When Eren handed the package over, Morsh took it in his hand and took out a cigarette. He was planning at that moment and just closed his eyes. Morsh put the cigarette between his lips but didn't light it in the end.
He looked so tired that even when Eren lit his cigarette, Morsh's eyes did not open. Stress was a disgusting feeling pressures people, and Morsh was feeling enormous stress today.
Hours later, expensive-looking and mysterious weapons were added to the wall. Weapons were brought with Morsh's insistence, despite the objections of the town's rulers. While other commanders and a man who appeared to be the town's governor tried to prevent him, Morsh persistently placed the weapons.
At that moment, Tris whispered to Eren. "Even one of these guns is more expensive than anything and everything in this town."
Eren smiled and joked. "You're exaggerating like he put an atomic bomb on the wall."
"Oh! How do you know? Has Morsh told you? I think he trusts you a lot. It's classified information."
Eren accidentally dropped the cigarette in his mouth. It has fallen to the ground from the watchtower.
He cursed behind his unfinished cigarette. [I shouldn't have said this. Now we will use atomic bombs. This is for sure  thanks to Asshole-Morphies Law!]

"War is a mess full of expectations, blood, and a lot of sicknesses. The plans made by different sides are often useless and you encounter many unexpected things. No enemy will attack as expected or move straight to be killed by you. There are always counter plans and moves to harm you.
What isn't described in most movies and books is that almost no plans were prepared before real wars. It starts in an instant and you have to focus on the current situations and give orders with changes.
This is also the real reason why a commander joins the war."

Eren noticed these details after talking with Morsh. He was trying to explain the modern tactics of the old battles on Earth. He summarized many tv shows, different concepts of animations, and comics. There were tons of different zombie horde games he played on the computer and consols. 
Morsh had a lot of fun with what he was telling. Even the most basic and beautiful tactics Eren saw on Earth weren't taken seriously by this commander. He even recorded what Eren said on a video with his comm.
Eren wondered if what he said was funny, but couldn't find anything to laugh at in his sentences.
"War is won by instant decisions. It is also lost with a momentary decision made by either side. That's it..."
Morsh thought. [Moreover, the zombies in front of us are a plain horde without a commander. But what Eren said could probably work against mutants and monsters. I have to watch this video after this event end!]

It was already afternoon when the first zombies appeared on the horizon. Seeing that darkness would collapse in a maximum of an hour or two, the soldiers were getting happier and more relaxed.
"Zombies have a lot of bad traits compared to other monsters, mutants, and weird lifeforms. Their biggest disadvantage is that they can't do shit at night."
Eren then chatted for minutes about zombie biology with Morsh.
It was Eren's bad luck that Lara came right during this conversation. A few minutes of chatter turned into a one-hour-long biology lesson. This knowledgeable and serious woman gave Eren all the details, including "Significance of Zombies in History".
Eren took ten packs of cigarettes when the soldier who brought the orders from the town came. He packed them in his bag under food packages. Eren took the last one from his pack and put it in his mouth before throwing the pack to the ground. 
After his first breath from the cigarette, Eren studied the darkness Lara showed.
"When zombies are in the dark, they don't dare to exhaust the energy they get from the sun and from what they eat. They move freely throughout the day because they can take in energy all the time, but they have to stand still at night. There is a risk that their energy runs out and their bodies die suddenly at night. It's basically like solar panel logic."
Eren said. "Well then let's go kill this them while the idiots aren't moving!"
Eren said halfway through the long lesson. And the moment he said it, he regretted it. Lara, who has gone into the old and long history of war with zombies, brought a new taste to the history lessons with shining eyes.
Eren regretted asking questions again. "In short, they don't move with a simple instinct. They can still move and start attacking like daytime when they sense danger or prey. So how many hours of energy do they have at night?"

But luckily for the soldiers, when the sun went down the zombies really stood in their places. Almost all of them collapsed in similar seconds. Some seemed to sit or throw themselves sideways because of their damaged bodies.
Compared to the zombie that Eren had seen in the underground lab, these were more brutal and Hollywood-themed ones. Their red eyes and skin colors were humanic. Yet, their bloody clothes or naked bodies full of wounds echoed the word "Zombieeee!!!".
Eren felt his heart was beating much faster than normal. The excitement of the morning was replaced by anxiety and fear. The number of zombie-horde was so many that Eren would turn around and flee to the other side if he wasn't on the high walls.
He constantly looked at his DNA features from his comm. He had to remind himself that he wasn't in his old and weak state from Earth. Cigarette packs were running out one by one, and the worry on his face could no longer be concealed.
Around this time, Tris was called from a different location. She kissed Eren for a long time before she left. 
What Tris said and the experienced Morsh's advice weren't working. Whatever Eren did, his anxiety didn't decrease but increased.
That night was one of the most exciting and stressful nights of his life.

The remaining six people could only look while the slightly overweight man bleeds to death.

The white-collar woman and college girl's expressions turned completely pale; and Aya, who was fighting the zombie dog, gritted her teeth and tried to kill the zombie faster.

But though the zombie dog was just a level one, and she could kill it given enough time; the current her, who was unable to use her skill correctly, was unable to kill it quickly.

The zombie cat was not satisfied with killing only one of them though. As living dead, zombies had an innate desire to eat and kill any living being, and in this situation, this zombie wasn't planning to leave its prey to escape.

So, after it confirmed that the slightly overweight man was dead, it immediately moved its gaze to the other five.

The zombie cat then crouched down and bared its teeth.

The two bodyguards and the stubble man quickly stepped forward to protect the two girls, but their expressions were nervous. After all, they weren't confident about killing the zombie cat.

Though in this situation, it was to kill it or to be killed.

The next second, the cat jumped towards them.

Maybe it felt that the stubble guy was the weakest of the three, because it attacked him. The stubble guy opened his eyes widely in fear, but he didn't hesitate to swing the bat-like weapon he grabbed before.

His attack lacked any kind of skill, but fortunately, he had a good aim, so the attack hit the cat in a leg.

The zombie cat growled and fell a few meters away, making the stubble guy sigh in relief. However, zombies could not feel pain; so, in the next instant, it was before him again.

This time, the stubble guy was unable to react.

Fortunately, one of the bodyguards intervened just when he was about to be killed, using a baton to obstruct the cat.

The zombie growled in rage, and its eyes turned redder. With a swift movement, it used its claws to grab the baton and threw himself towards the bodyguard.

Astonished, the man could only raise his right arm to protect his face.

The next instant, the claws cut through his clothes and severed a piece of flesh from his arm.

"Argh!" He cried in pain while his companion tried to hit the cat away with his weapon.

However, the cat was too agile. It jumped away while taking a piece of flesh in its claws and continued staring the group with hunger in its eyes.

It then circled the group slowly while looking for an opening to attack again.

"Are you alright!?" The second bodyguard asked the one who was hurt. He only nodded while keeping his sigh fixed on the cat zombie. "It's alright. I'll not die soon at least."

His partner tried to open his mouth to speak, but in the end, he sighed and concentrated on the cat zombie. He knew that his companion was probably done for, now that he was injured.

If he wanted to help him, then he had to kill this monster as fast as possible and try to reach the central tower quickly.

After all, the mysterious youth who helped them said that once they finish the game, they could be cured even of the zombie infection.

The stubble guy opened his mouth at that moment.

"It's smart." He said while looking at the cat zombie. "It's waiting for an opportunity."

The others agreed with a nod.

Behind them, the white-collar woman was trembling in fright and the college girl was grabbing an axe with so much strength that her hands turned white.

At that moment, a change occurred on Aya's fight against the zombie dog.

The zombie dog, that until now had been attacking Aya furiously, turned towards the group and rushed toward them.

Aya reacted almost immediately and tried to stab it with her spear, but the dog evaded the attack with a quick movement and continued rushing towards them.

"Crap!" Aya knew that things were turning bad and quickly chased after the zombie dog,

The commotion attracted the attention of the others, who panicked seeing another zombie charging towards them, but when they were wondering about what to do, the situation changed suddenly.

The zombie dog, who was just a few meters away from the group, stopped suddenly and turned around to face Aya.

And the zombie cat, who had been gazing the group with a hungry look, charged suddenly towards Aya's position.

When the humans finally reacted, the two animals were already attacking Aya.

'Oh no!' They thought in fear.

Aya paled when she noticed the situation, and she knew that she was in trouble, but she tried not to panic. When the two monsters attacked, she used the shaft of the spear to swat the dog away and instinctively moved to evade the cat's attack frantically.

However, it left her open to the zombie cat's second attack.

Before she could recover her balance, the zombie cat extended its claws and jumped to her neck.

Aya could only look with a gaze of despair how the cat lunged to her neck, unable to evade the attack.

However, Lily moved at that moment.

Following her owner's orders, she had followed behind Aya from the beginning, never leaving her side.

She didn't intervene until now because she believed that her owner could deal with all the dangers for herself.

But when her owner was in danger, Lily didn't hesitate to show her power.

The mana Lily had accumulated until now surged from her body and moved to her claws, filling them with a deep dark glow.

And with a movement even faster than the zombie cat, she pounced.

Lily didn't pay attention to their reactions. As a proud cat, she preferred to stay back leisurely while the stupid humans do all the work, but now that she was forced to intervene, she decided to finish with the other nuisance too.

So, before the others could process the zombie cat's death, she pounced towards the zombie dog, leaving behind a silvery black trail.

The dog tried to evade the attack, but it was too slow compared to Lily.

So, a second later, it was beheaded too.

None of the people looking to the scene could believe it.

To think that, the zombies that they found so hard to kill, were beheaded so easily by an innocent-looking cat.

Lily, however, ignored their astonishment and walked towards Aya before tilting her head.

"Meow?"

"Lily, you…"

"Meow."

Seeing the indifferent look on Lily's face, as if wondering why she was surprised for something so obvious, Aya didn't know where laugh or cry.

'I don't think that cats are supposed to be like that!'

But when the rest of the group came and looked at Lily with astonished gazes, Aya resumed her expressionless look.

"Your cat sure is incredible, miss Aya." The stubble guy said with a sigh of admiration.

For a moment, she had no idea about how to answer.

So, in the end, she only nodded indifferently.

"… Mm. I know."

While the others continued to wonder where they could get a cat like that, Aya signaled for them to continue.

Meanwhile, she wondered how long had Lily been able to do something like that.
