Mika entered the classroom and took her seat, "Hey Lyoko!" she turned to Rikido, "Did you see the news about the sports fest?" he asked. Mika smiled and nodded, "I'm glad that we're getting popular in a good way." she said, "I even got noticed by a few people on the train."
Fumikage nodded, "I got the same status quo from other people as well." he said, "I'd prefer a little peace and quiet though." Mika looked at Fumikage, "By the way, congrats on getting third place, Tokoyami." she said.
Fumikage closed his eyes, "I thank you for your kindness." he said, "I would also like to congratulate you too." Mika tilted her head, "For what? I didn't get far, unlike you." she said.
Fumikage looked at Mika, "You're being too modest on yourself." he said, "Your abilities are far greater than you think if you get to the top eight. You should be proud of yourself and your accomplishments."
Koji and Rikido nodded in agreement, making Mika blush a bit and look away, "T-Thanks." she said. Mr. Aizawa entered the classroom, "Good morning, everyone." he said.
They turned to the front, "Good morning, sir." they said. Tsuyu looked at Mr. Aizawa, "It's good to see you out of your bandages, Sensei." she said.
Mr. Aizawa looked at his papers, "The nurse's treatment was excessive, but never mind that." he said. Mr. Aizawa looked at them, "Today we have hero informatics and it's a very important one." he continued.
Some of them got nervous, *Is it a pop quiz?* they thought. "You'll be choosing hero names." Mr. Aizawa said. "This is going to be awesome!" everyone shouted.
Mr. Aizawa glared at them, making them calm down, "Before we get to the name picking, I would like to show the pro draft picks I mentioned the other day." he said. Mr. Aizawa pressed a button on a remote, showing most of the names of the people in the tournament.
"Hang on... Bakugo and Todoroki were switched." Eijiro said, "How come?" Hanta turned to Eijiro, "Maybe it's because they fear him since he was chained up." he said, making Katsuki yell at him.
Mika looked for her name and saw it under Tenya's name, surprising her a bit, "Wow Lyoko, you got on the board with 284 on the draft pick." Rikido said. Mika smiled, "I'm glad that some pro heroes liked my performance." she said.
Mr. Aizawa looked at them, "Regardless of whether you were part of the tournament, everyone is going to work with pro heroes." he said, "It's true that you've seen more than most, it's still worth training with the pros and taking part on what they do."
Mika nodded, "The main reason why we need hero names." she said. Ochaco smiled, "This is going to be fun." she said. Mr. Aizawa nodded, "These names are temporary." he said, "But they must be appropriate..."
The classroom door opened, "Or you'll have hell to pay later!" they turned towards the door and saw Midnight enter the classroom, "The name you choose will probably be the name the world might call you for life." she said as she walked towards the podium.
Mr. Aizawa got his sleeping bag, "This is true." he said, "And Midnight will help with the sensibility of your hero names. These names will help you reflect your character." They nodded and wrote their hero names on the small whiteboards Midnight gave them.
(Small Time Skip)
A few minutes later, they finished writing their hero names, "If everyone is done writing their hero names, it's time to present them." Midnight said.
Everyone was shocked about presenting their hero names. Yuga walked towards the podium, "Here we go." he said, making them look at him, "I'm the Shining hero: I Cannot Stop Twinkling." Most were dumbfounded, "It's an entire sentence!" they said.
Midnight wrote stuff on Yuga's board, "It would be better if you remove I and shorten Cannot to Can't." she said. Yuga turned to Midnight, "Brilliant idea, mademoiselle." he said. They looked at Midnight, "She went with it." they said.
Mika looked at Yuga, *That is one weird person.* she thought. It was Mina's turn, "Alright, my turn!" she said as she showed her board on the podium, "My hero name: Alien Queen."
Midnight was scared, "You mean that alien with acid blood, I don't think so!" she said; Mina got depressed as sat back down. Mika looked at her hero name with worry, *The last two were very weird.* she thought, *Is my hero name gonna be good or do they think it'll be weird.*
Tsuyu raised her hand, "I'll go next." she said; Midnight smiled, "Go for it." she said. Tsuyu got up and walked towards the podium, "I've thought about this name since grade school." she said. Tsuyu turned her board to them, "Rainy Season hero: Froppy." she continued.
Midnight smiled, "That's so lovely!" she said, "It's perfect for a hero name." The others regained their confidence in their hero names as they chanted Froppy in the class, *After Tsu's hero name, I'm happy about mine.* Mika thought with a smile.
(Small Time Skip)
Mika was happy about the other hero names, from Eijiro's hero name, Red Riot to Kyoka's hero name, Earphone Jack. After Mika saw Denki's hero name, Chargebolt, Midnight looked at the others, "Who's next?" she asked.
Mika raised her hand, "I'll go." she said; Midnight smiled, "Let's see what you got." she said. Mika nodded as she got up and walked towards the front.
As Mika stood at the podium, she looked at her hero name, "I've heard this name being used to insult me... but to be honest, I always thought it was fitting." she said. Mika turned her board to them, "Call me the Animorph hero: Animal Girl." she continued.
Midnight had a big smile, "So cute!" she said, "And it fits you so well, I like it." Mika smiled as she returned to her desk. Mika saw the other names and was impressed, from Momo's hero name, Creati to Fumikage's hero name, Tsukuyomi.
When it was Koji's turn, he walked towards the front and turned his board; it said, 'Petting hero: Anima' on it. Midnight gave Koji a thumbs up, "Yep, all about it." she said; Mika lowered her head, *His hero name is really cute.* she thought.
Mika was surprised when she saw Shoto and Tenya using their first names for their hero names and in disbelief when she saw Katsuki's hero name, King Explosion Murder.
When it was Izuku's turn, he showed them his hero name, surprising them, "Are you sure you want to use that as your hero name, Midoriya?" Mika asked. Eijiro looked at Izuku, "That name might be your permanent hero name, man." he said.
Izuku nodded, "I've hated this name for a long time... but someone showed me that this name has a different meaning." he said. They saw 'Deku' on Izuku's board, "Deku... that has to be my hero name." he continued. Some of them smiled as Izuku went back to his seat.
(Time Skip)
The week after they chose their hero names, some of them were given papers on which intern they want to go with from the draft, including Mika.
Others were given a paper about all the hero agencies that are accepting interns. They only had two days to pick which intern and some were having a hard time on where they should go or not.
Mika looked at her paper and the first hero agency she saw was Cementoss's hero agency, *Either way, I guess I was destined to get a hero internship with Cementoss-sensei.* she thought.
Mika looked at Tsuyu, "Hey Tsu." she said, "Who do you have for your hero internship?" Tsuyu turned to Mika, "I wrote my internship with the Sea Rescue hero: Selkie." she said.
Mika smiled, "That's so cool!" she said, "It would be awesome to work on a ship." Mika turned to Ochaco, "What about you, Ochaco?" she asked.
Ochaco made some punching motions, "I'm going with the Battle hero: Gunhead for my internship so I can learn more about hand-to-hand combat." she said. Mika smiled, "That's nice, I bet you get to learn lots of neat tricks in hand-to-hand combat." she said.
Ochaco nodded, "Who do you have for your hero internship, Mika?" Tsuyu asked. Mika rubbed the back of her head, "Well... it's not as glamorous as yours, but I got an internship during the sports fest." she said.
A few of them looked at her, "Really! From who?" Rikido asked. Mika looked at the group, "Cementoss-sensei offered me a hero internship with him." she said; they were shocked, "That's cool." Ochaco said.
Mika nodded, "He said that my fights during the tournament were impressive, but I lack some battle techniques." she said
Mika looked at her hand, "I may have good abilities from the animals I turn into, but if the time comes for super moves or something of that term I don't think I would have a good chance." she continued, "And, it's also a great opportunity to get out of my comfort zone."
Tsuyu had her finger on her chin, "How so, ribbit?" she asked. Mika fiddled with her fingers, "Well... my parents don't enjoy traveling outside of their region, they would usually stay in Tokyo for any vacations." she said, "So, this'll be a great experience to learn more about other regions."
Some of them smiled, "Hopefully, you'll have a great time at your internship." Ochaco said. Mika smiled, "Me too." she said; they gave their desired internships to Mr. Aizawa and left the classroom.
(Time Skip)
Before it was time, Mika wanted to talk to Cementoss about her internship. Mika was shaking a bit as she stood at the entrance of the teacher's lounge, but knocked on the door. When Mika heard 'come in', she entered the lounge; she saw Cementoss alone in the room.
Mika smiled, "Hello Sensei." she said; Cementoss turned to her and smiled, "Ah Lyoko, you're here." she said, "Are you ready for your internship?"
Mika nodded, "Yes sir." she said, "Actually... I wanted to ask you something about the internship." Cementoss looked at Mika, "What is it?" he asked.
Mika fiddled with her fingers, "I was wondering if I'll be the only one under your internship." she said. Cementoss nodded and fixed his papers, "You won't be alone on your internship." he said, "Another student from Class 1-A also has an internship with me."
Mika was shocked, "Really!" she said, "May I ask who it is." They heard a knock on the door, making them turn towards it, "Come in." Cementoss said. As the door opened, Mika was surprised to see Koji enter the teacher's lounge.
Cementoss smiled, "You ask and you shall receive." he said, making Mika turn to him, "The other student who has the same internship as you was Koda." Mika was shocked and turned to Koji, "How come you didn't tell me you had the same internship with me?" she asked.
Koji blushed a bit and looked away, "*I... wanted to surprise you when we were in the cafeteria.*" he signed. Mika was surprised and rubbed the back of her neck, "Oh... sorry about that." she said.
Mika looked at Koji and smiled, "Now that I know, I'm super excited that we both have the same internship." she said. Koji smiled a bit and nodded, "I'm glad that you two are happy about this internship." they turned to Cementoss, "Are you two ready for this?"
Mika nodded, "Yes sir!" she shouted; Koji nodded. Cementoss smiled, "I'll see you two at the internship; we'll do some stuff for your Quirks and maybe some patrolling." he said; they nodded as they left the room.
(Time Skip)
After classes, they stood in a train station with their hero cases in their hands, "All right, everyone has their hero costumes." Mr. Aizawa said, "Remember, wearing them in public is prohibited, but don't drop them."
Mina was excited and lifted her case up, "Got ya!" she shouted. Mr. Aizawa looked at Mina, "Don't use slur, Ashido." he said, "You still have to say 'Yes sir'." he said. Mina got a little depressed and pouted, "Yes sir." she said.
Mr. Aizawa looked at them, "I expect all of you to be on the best behavior; now go to your internships." he said. They smiled, "Yes sir!" they shouted; Mika turned to Koji, "Do you know anything about Yamagata city?" she asked.
Koji nodded, "*I did some exploring around the area during the weekend.*" he signed, "*One place I stopped by was Cementoss-sensei's hero agency.*" Mika smiled as she grabbed her belongings, "I guess I'll let you lead the way when we get there." she said.
Koji blushed a bit and nodded, "Well then... let's get our tickets and head to the Cementoss-sensei's hero agency!" Mika shouted with a fist in the air. Koji nodded as they headed to their ticket booth.

I was writing this book last summer while going to my internship. There, I only needed to.do a little accounting and small staff, so I was really bored when I had nothing to do or read on webnovel.
So after my internship where I had a lot of free time, my life rithm started to kick out again and become so active that I could barely keep up.
As such, I kind of forgot what I had in mind with this book (for the second time), as I changed the timeline technically too much (also didn't touch naruto in any form or way for about 2 years since the end of Shippuuden)
So right now I am concentrating on my ISSTH fanfic.
When I will have any idea or a naruto fanfic, I will post a new entry and link the new book as an announcement here.

Mark has gotten his chance to travel between anime worlds while the time on Earth will complitly stop.

"I thought I would only see him once and then never again. I was blessed to become his secretary after applying for an internship at that company. I was his secretary for three months, and then my internship ended. I didn't sign the employee contract with the company, so I've lost contact with him again. 
"Mr. S, you asked me what kind of man he is. Hmm…" Qin Zhi'ai paused writing. She tilted her head and looked through the crystal clean window at A High School.
I first saw Gu Yusheng right there for the first time when I was young.
The sun had been bright and hot on that summer afternoon. She had been walking up some stairs with a heavy suitcase and, without even looking at her, he had helped her carry it as he was passing her. He set it down at the top of the stairs and then walked away with a few other boys. When she had looked up at him, she could only see his long and thin figure.
Then time flew by. Years had passed. No matter when she recalled that scene, she always felt excited and happy, just as she had since it had happened so long ago.
Qin Zhi'ai's expression suddenly became soft. She bit the end of her pen as she reflected on that scene before writing again.
"He is tall and handsome. I still remember the first time I saw him; my only thought had been he was the one I was looking for, no matter how many guys I might meet in the future. Oddly, though, he always looked naturally arrogant for some reason. It might be his personality. He was a soldier like you. He had a very big dream. He's as handsome as Prince Charming, but he has a bad mouth. He gave me a very bad nickname, little sweetheart. He has many bad habits. He's addicted to smoking. He has a temper. And yes, he is quite arrogant; he doesn't just appear so. He does have a very nice name, though." 
Qin Zhi'ai stopped writing and hesitated for a second. She didn't dare to write Gu Yusheng's last name, so she only used his first name. "His name is Yusheng. Mr. S, you have said you would like to give us your blessing, that you hoped Yusheng and I would fall in love, get along, and understand one another. I really appreciate your kind words, but I don't think I can be with him, because I..." Qin Zhi'ai moved her pen on the paper and continued to write more. By the end, her eyes were red.
She finished with a fond goodbye and checked for mistakes. She put the letter in an envelope, stuck a stamp on it, and quietly sat while sipping a cup of honey water. Thinking about the last paragraph of her letter, she became emotional for some time. After calming down, she stood up, paid her check, and left the cafe carrying the envelope.
She dropped it in a mailbox as she walked to the school to find Xu Wennuan, who soon called her on the phone to find her.
Xu Wennuan's face had no more tears. She ran to Qin Zhi'ai with a smile and put her arm into Qin Zhi'ai's arm. She tilted her head and talked excitedly as she always did. "Xiao'ai, let's go shopping. Emma is a hard-working girl who works at Cosmos Magazine she works there as a writer along with her two amazing best friends. Emma has been dating her high school sweetheart for 5 years he stayed back in Boston because he had an interview to see if he got the internship at a hospital, he is currently studying to become a doctor at Boston University.
Emma's boss call's her to her office for a special assignment she has to go review a new club that just opened she has to go review the drinks she got a total makeover from her best friends Emily and Alexander, Emma goes to the club she orders a shot of tequila then the waiter tells Emma that the guy at the end of the bar send her a Mojito she started to feel a little dizzy the waiter gave her some water later she discovers that Justin Adams is at the same club what happens next read to find out!!!!! Emma moved to a popular building where a lot of different celebrities, Especially the guy who Emily know's everything about him.

It was a regular mid-summer day in L.A. The conference room at the main office of Grayson Publications was abuzz with the chatter. A round table discussion with the publishing houses' main personnel was in motion behind the doors in front of us.

I was standing with my back stuck against the wall opposite the door, waiting for my name to be called for the final presentation which would have decided my fate in the city's biggest publishing firm. If my pitch gets passed, I would be promoted from an intern to junior copywriter. 

I was excited and felt nauseous at the same time. 

I looked to my right and glanced towards Max who was standing next to me staring at his own two feet. He had been weirdly quiet for the longest time now. Something wasn't right about it. 

I nudged him with my elbow, "You okay, babe?" I asked.

Startled, he looked at me. "Um, yeah. Yeah," he gave me a half-hearted smile. 

Something was definitely not right.

I felt fingers touch the side of my arm and my vision cleared up. 

"Don't touch me!" I jerked away from him and my brain registered his proximity. I stumbled backward and my back hit the closed apartment door. 

He stood frozen, now a few steps away, although I might have seen a muscle twitch around his right eye. 

"I just want to talk, Sky," his blue eyes looked at me intently. A small frown could be seen forming underneath the strands of hair on his forehead. 

"I don't want to talk to you," I spat and turned back around. I picked the keys from the floor and began to jam them in the lock. My breathing turned ragged. I felt Max's eyes burning a hole at the back of my head as I struggled with opening the lock. 

The keys fell out of my hands and back on the ground. I cursed internally. Externally, I had started to shiver. 

"I saw you today with Jordan Parker," he said calmly. 

Ignoring his voice, I bent down to retrieve the keys from the floor once again. 

 "So, are you like.. with him now?" he asked as I straightened my spine. 

"That's none of your business," I spoke through a clenched jaw. 

A feeling of uneasiness spread through me. Suddenly, I was aware of every sense of mine. My mouth was drying up and my ears were warm. My heart was beating faster than it probably should and my lungs demanded twice as much oxygen as they usually did. 

"You know he's not right for you, don't you, Sky?" he spoke again. "You know he has a reputation, right? And not the kind which is considered reliable and good—" 

"Oh, you're one to talk!" I spun on my heels to face him. "You don't get to talk about being reliable, Max," his name burned on my lips. 

He stared at me for a few silent seconds. 


~flashback continues~ 

"Max, are you sure? You look like you're going to puke," I said studying his face. 

It looked so very pale. Like he had been sick or something.

"I'm fine," he mustered up a smiled. "Just nervous." 

"I know. I am too. But I'm also kind of excited, you know."

"Only one of us can get in, Sky. What if you do and I don't?" he whispered through the rising chatter. Their loud voices were being carried outside the room.

"Then we'll find you the next best thing, Max. Or me. The odds for us are 50-50. We have talked about this already. Whatever happens, it won't matter because at least one of us will be a step closer to achieving everything we want," I reached for his hand and pressed it lightly. "We're together in this." 

"Yeah," he smiled lightly and turned his gaze ahead. 

Natalie, the person responsible for our internship evaluation, walked in our direction. 

She looked at Max and smiled through her cherry lips, "I hope you're ready. This presentation is going to decide your future at this firm."

"Yeah, I am," Max smiled back at her with confidence. 

Turning to me she said, "And you?" 

"Ready," I nodded. 

Natalie gave me a half-smile and trotted away in her black bodycon dress which hugged her cinched waist like it was sewed onto her body. She disappeared behind the conference room doors.

Ever since I had joined this firm as an intern Natalie had always given me the uncomfortable vibes. She never looked at me for more than a second and always talked to me as though I wasn't good enough for some reason. 

I never knew what I had done to make her feel that way about me. She never said anything to my face but the way she presented herself in front of me was proof enough to shed light on her feelings about me. 

Max, on the other hand, she liked. But, I guess that was true of any girl. Max Jones was a sight for sore eyes. 

He was charming, a smooth talker. His deep blue eyes had a mystical allure about them. Coupled with his raven hair and his athletic figure, Max was always someone who turned heads wherever he went. Not to mention he played varsity football at our college. 

All of that and he had a flair for writing. 

Perfect didn't even begin to cover him.

Max and I had known each other for most of my life. We grew up in the same neighborhood, went to the same school, and ended up going to the same college as well. 

Despite knowing each other our entire lives, it wasn't until the second year of college that we started liking each other. We both had English as our major and were both in one of the college literary clubs. That was where our story began. 

In a group of 7 strangers, we were the only people who knew each other from outside of college. The more we met, the more we talked, and the more I started to fall in love with him. 

Like most love stories, ours didn't have a straight ascending graph either. It took a few months for Max to realize his feelings for me and by the time he did, I was already dating someone else. I never confessed my feelings to him but always felt like it was mutual. He gave me reasons to feel that way but was too late to act upon it. 

By the time I broke up with the other guy, it was time for Max's graduation. We had spent 2 years together, making poetry, writing stories, falling asleep together on the library floor as we read to each other and neither of us had ever confessed how we felt towards each other. 

Finally, a month before his final exams, Max confessed to me how he felt about me. I remember how I had jumped off my seat and right into his arms, accepting his declaration of love. 

However, our time together was short. He was graduating and I still had another year ahead of me.

But we made it work. 

Despite my best protests, Max dropped his dream internship which would have had him move to New York. He stayed back in L.A and worked on some freelancing writing gigs.

I was bittersweet about Max staying back and letting go of the internship he worked so hard to get. I tried convincing him for months to reconsider but each time he ended the conversation saying "I don't want to be away from you." 

And each time my heart would melt. I didn't want to be away from him either. 

So, I dropped out of campus housing and moved into Max's apartment. 

The internship at Grayson Publications came as a ray of sun on a cloudy day. 

We applied together and both of us got in. 

Studying together, staying together, and now working together. Life couldn't have gotten better for both of us. I was happy. Happier than I had ever been in my entire life. 

After the childhood that I had had, being with Max made me feel secure and loved. I had never felt happiness like that. I woke up to his face each day and slept in his warm embrace each night. 

Everything in life was perfect for the first time in my entire life.

And that should have been my first clue.

It was the kind of calm and quiet one usually witnesses before a storm. 

A storm was brewing. And I was not aware of it.

Not in the least fucking bit. 

This was the last day of our internship. In this six-month-long internship, Max and I had worked together and like any other normal couple, we also had our differences and mindless quarrels from time to time. It wasn't anything that was out of the ordinary. Nothing to stress over. 

It was normal. 

Or so I thought. 

Two months before the end of our internship we were told that only one of us could get in the final spot. Only one intern could get a final hold as a junior copywriter at the biggest publishing firm in the city. 

As a 21year old, with not much to lose, I embraced this risk. But it sent Max off the deep end. 

He grew worrisome about his position in the firm and his relationship with me. We had long conversations about his paranoia. Even though he never said the words, I knew the fear that had been eating away at his mind. He had already dropped a year and stayed back to be with me. He couldn't afford to lose this internship as well. 

I could read the fear in his eyes as night after night, he grew distant. Something was changing. But each time I brought it up, he denied it. 

So, I put it out of my mind and began to work on my pitch as he worked on his. 

Max didn't want to share our ideas. He wanted to be strictly professional about this and even though I found this a bit weird, I supported his decision.

"You're up, Skylar," Natalie came up to me and announced. 

I took a deep breath in and smiled nervously. "Wish me luck," I looked at Max. 

He smiled back at me with a far-off look in his eyes. It was as though he was with me but still not quite there. 

"Good luck, Sky," he said.

I frowned at the look on his face, "Max, are you sure you're okay? Is something wrong?" 

But before he could say another word, Natalie interrupted. "Skylar, we can't keep the bosses waiting." 

"Right," I slowly looked away from Max. "I'll see you after."


~present~ 

"Sky, I just... I don't understand. What are you doing with Jordan Parker?" he stepped forward. 

Reflexively, I took a step back but realized there was nowhere to go. The door was still locked, the keys were dangling from my fingers, chiming against each other as I moved. 

"That is none of your business," I reiterated. 

He let out a frustrated sigh. Running his slender fingers through the black mess on the head he said, "I know I have lost any right that I had—"

"You're damn right you have lost it! What are you even doing here? And how did you even find me?" I pinched my brows together. 

There were a thousand things that I wanted to say.

A thousand questions brewing in my head. 

This exact scenario had replayed itself in my head for months after I moved here. The days that I had spent locked inside my room, crying myself to sleep on the bedroom floor, the nights that I had stayed awake, thinking of all the reasons someone I trusted so much could betray me the way he did. 

I thought about all the things I wanted to say to him, about the questions that I wanted to ask him, the answers that I had needed so badly. 

The 'why' behind it all.

The heaviness in my heart returned and it spread like wildfire as the aching burn reached my eyes. I felt the sting of the tears welling up at the back of my eyes but I forced them back. I couldn't give him the satisfaction of seeing me break. 

I had been strong for so long. 

I couldn't let the sight of him break me again. 

"I..." he sighed defeatedly, "Would you believe me if I said I missed you? And that I'm so fucking so—" 

"What are you doing here?" Maddy's voice came from behind me. 

I turned around and saw Maddy climbing up the stairs. She covered the distance between me and her in a few long and hurried strides as she walked up to me.

Defensively, she took her stance in front of me. "You have some nerve showing your face here," she spat venomously. "Why are you standing here and listening to him talk? Get inside," she threw me a sharp, commanding look. 

Making sense of her words, and finally feeling in touch with my limbs, I was able to unlock the door. 

"Sky, please, wait!" Max called as I took a step inside the apartment. 

I stopped and turned around, still inside, waiting for Maddy to get in. "No, Max. There is nothing left to talk about. Next time, please don't show up unannounced... actually, don't show up anywhere near me at all. " 

I tugged on Maddy's arm gesticulating her to follow me inside. 

"This is not about you, little sister," Max clenched his jaw.

"I told you to stay away, Jones," Maddy took a fierce step ahead. "I told you there's nothing here for you."

"Sky, I just want to talk. Once. Please." Ignoring Maddy's warning, Max inched forward in my direction. 

"No. You will back off right now, fuckface. I explicitly told you to stay away from her," she spoke in a low dangerous voice. 

Huh?

"And I told you that I won't unless I talk to her," he looked at me with hopeful eyes. 

"So you followed her to her office?" Maddy said, vehemently. "Ambushed her?" 

"It wouldn't have felt like that had you told her about our conversation, cousin," Max lifted his sad eyes off me and turned to face Maddy.  

What? 

What conversation?

Maddy instantly spun on her heels to face me, her eyes wide with guilt. 




"In my head, I knew this wasn't right, but every other fiber of my being screamed otherwise. 

Our breaths mingled together as our tongues conversed passionately with each other. Had it not been for Jordan's solid grip on my waist, I wouldn't have been able to hold myself up because of how weak my knees felt. He moved his lips from my lips to the hollow portion on my neck and a moan escaped my mouth. 

If it was the alcohol or the absolute fatal attraction that I had felt for him since the moment we met, I didn't know. All I knew was that this felt euphoric. It felt right and I wanted to feel like this some more."

**SLOW BURN**

A knock on my door wakes me up from my light slumber. Opening my eyes, I look at the clock next to me: 8:40 am. Whoever it is, they beat the alarm and now I would like to beat them. Shaking my head to get rid of the violent thoughts, I step out of bed and walk down the hallway. A familiar chest is seen through the peephole and I open the door, an unimpressed look on my face. 

"It's 8 am," I state bluntly, displeased that he had a smile on his face and looked so awake.

"I'm here to trade in my rain check for some french toast," he replies, lifting his arm that has a bag filled with groceries. 

How didn't I notice that before?

With a sigh of defeat, I know I'm not going to be able to go back to bed now. Moving away from the opening of the door, I let him in and lead the way to the kitchen. 

"You didn't have to buy anything. I asked you to breakfast, remember?"

Setting the bag on the table, he looks at me. "I know, but I figured we could have a real breakfast then I could drive you to your university."

I'm taken aback. He wants to go out of his way to give me a ride? Why? Instead of really questioning it, I tune back into reality and notice all the groceries: eggs, bread, cinnamon, vanilla, milk, butter, and syrup on the table. 

"You didn't have to buy all of this. I have milk and bread."

Ignoring the fact that I was talking at all, he goes through my cabinets until he finds a pan big enough to fit two pieces of bread with room in between them. Placing it on the stove, he finds a big bowl to add the eggs, cinnamon and vanilla in. Once he does all that, he takes the bread and dips them inside the concoction before putting them in the pan with some butter that he melted. He repeats this process until the whole loaf of bread is gone, and the plate that holds the french toast is completely covered. With every breath I take, the smell of cinnamon filters into my nose and I smile. I miss being in a kitchen that smells like the food being made.

Grabbing plates, knives, forks and cups, I set the table remembering to take the milk and flavored water out of the fridge. With everything set up and the breakfast made we sit across from each other and chow down. After four slices are missing from the plate, we finally break the silence. 

"How did you sleep?"

"I was out for most of the night and just woke up when you knocked on the door. How about you?"

"I went to bed last night at a reasonable time then woke up early this morning to have breakfast with you. I'd say I slept pretty good considering I'm actually functional." 

We elapse back into silence. More french toast goes missing from the main plate and appear on our individual ones. Considering I haven't eaten a home cooked meal, in my kitchen, in over nine months this is a treat I will not take for granted. 

"This is-"

"What classes-" 

We both go to talk at the same time, both stopping when we realize the other is talking. 

"You go first," he says with a laugh. 

"I just wanted to thank you for breakfast. This is delicious. I can't remember the last time I had french toast. When we do this again, breakfast is on me, but you have to cook it." 

"Thank you. I don't mind cooking. Do you know how?"

Embarrassed I shake my head side to side, my cheeks heating up the slightest bit. 

"Then next time I will teach you. What do you want to make? This is pretty simple, most common breakfast foods are. Pancakes, and waffles come from a box. This only had one step. Hashbrowns you leave in the oven. What if we make egg and bacon sandwiches with hashbrowns on the side."

"That sounds really good, but you have to help me." 

"I will. Now what classes do you have today?"

"I don't have many, only three. I basically have all writing classes today. My major writing class is how I end my day and before that I have an internship through the university and my first class is just another writing one where we compare different genres and how each genre is written a little differently." 

"That sounds really interesting. Where is your internship? Do you need a ride?"

"Most of my classes are interesting, I'm pretty lucky to have these courses. My internship is a twenty minute drive from the university and I work alongside the head editorial team for that company. After I finish college, I want to move from being an intern to being an actual employee so I can have my own editorial team."

"When do you know if you will be able to be on their team full-time?"

"At the end of my internship in a little over two months, they can choose to hire me on the spot. If not, I can ask to be hired which can go two ways. One, they can hire me then. Two, they can tell me to fill out an application which means that my chances of getting the job are slim. I hope they hire me on the spot. I work hard and do whatever they ask of me." 

"I'm sure they will hire you."

"Thanks." 

Looking at the clock, we both stand up and clean up the kitchen. The dishes are washed, the table is cleared and the food is put away in the fridge.

"I just have to get ready. I only need ten- fifteen, make it fifteen minutes- to be all ready to go. Make yourself at home."

Going into my bedroom, I grab clothes and rush to the bathroom to get ready for the day. My shower is steamy but too quick for my liking. Stepping out, I open the door a crack and peek out to make sure Damon can't see me. Knowing that he can't, I leave the door open a crack to let out all of the steam. Quickly drying, I brush through my hair and get dressed before brushing my teeth. Five minutes later, my purse, keys, phone and school bag are all in my hands or on my shoulders. 

"Ready to go?" I ask Damon who is sitting on the couch listening to my music. 

"Yes. Are you?"

"Yes. Are you sure you don't mind driving me? I have to go to my internship today at noon."

"Of course not. I will be there to pick you up and drop you off."

Two minutes later, the engine starts with a mighty roar and we take off down the street. I look at the clock and relax into my seat since I still have a half hour before my class begins and I will be there in ten. 

Damon reaches out to turn on the radio and today's hits come on. Moving his hand away from the "seek" button, I raise the volume and open my window. Belting out the lyrics, Damon quickly joins me and together we bring sound to the rest of the quiet neighborhood. 

When the song ends and another begins, I look at the mirror on the side of the car, and notice a black truck riding behind us. Goosebumps pick at my skin from the familiarity of the car. I think it was the same one as yesterday. Looking at Damon, I lower the radio. 

"I think that truck was following me yesterday," I say, worry lacing my voice. 

He looks out the rearview mirror and the car starts to accelerate. The buildings that were once long and square are now only blurs of color. 

"Do you know that car too?" 

Not answering, he shifts the car into second gear, then third. The truck stays behind us. Damon shifts again, and the truck struggles to keep up. Taking a sharp right turn, we pull onto a side road, the opposite way of my university. He knows the truck. 

"Who is that? Why is he following us?"

"Don't worry about it. It's none of your concern."

"I think it is my concern. He was following me, Damon. I was scared!" I exclaim, exasperated. 

"Why didn't you tell me yesterday?" 

"Why would I? Yesterday, I thought he was following me, but, clearly, he's following you and now me!"

"Look, I'm sorry. I'm not in the most reputable type of business. I have made a few enemies, and now that you have associated yourself with me, they are going to be watching you too. You don't need to know who it is. All you need to know is that he doesn't like us and you need to stay away from him. If you ever see him, call me immediately." 

"What kind of business are you in?" 

"It doesn't matter. We are here." 

In all of my anxiety, I didn't notice him circle back to go to my school. We must've lost the truck a while back and he knew it was safe to bring me here. 

Pulling up to my university, I step out. "Thank you for driving me. I really appreciate it. If you can't pick me up please let me know so I can take the bus there. And I'm sorry for freaking out."

"I will be here. Have a good day. If you see a similar car or any suspicious men walking around call me. I will be here in two minutes." 

"I will be fine. See you later." 

Walking away from his car, I rush to my first class, paranoid that someone is watching me. Entering the building my class is in, I take the staircase up to the top floor and walk down the hall. Walking into the classroom that caused anxiety last week, I feel surprisingly excited for this class to begin. I finally have inspiration for my novel and I know that I will do well on this assignment. Maybe I'll publish it too in the future. Smiling at that idea, I take my seat and wait for class to begin.

Rose is the typical college-girl who goes unnoticed but secretly craves adventure, and someone to share her life with. Being a college senior with a writing major, she needs to find someone to give her the inspiration for her first novel. The next day, she bumps into Brandon, who has a secret stepbrother, Damon, who is running from a dangerous past. Together, the boys give Rose everything she has always wanted: excitement, family, and inspiration. However, not everything is perfect. Damon’s past is quickly catching up to him and Rose may be in more danger than she bargained for.

I know it's a long break (more than a year) but I had to focus on my studies. Now into a 2-year internship with lots of free time in my hand. Thus I've decided to continue the novel, at the very least I can guarantee that I can keep writing for the next couple of years.

Guys, I'll officially upload the next new chapter in a couple of weeks; I'm editing all the chapters released, to improve the standard. Re-evaluation of the novel showed my standard of writing is weak, which's obvious given the fact that English is only my third language.   

I'm working on improving my writing skills but for the immediate results, an Editor software has been subscribed for premium.  

Readers are welcomed to re-read the chapters edited, all edited chapters will have the date of editing in the 'author's thoughts'. I'll be editing at least three chapters every day.

I know many readers might be angry or disappointed with the inconsistency and huge break for which I extend my humble apology to all the readers. And will be extremely grateful for all those re-joining the ride and thanks for reading my book.

Hello guys, I thought about this for the entire day and I decided that I'm going to drop writing altogether. I decided that I'm not going to write altogether. For anyone still donating to my ******* thank you but you should stop donating immediately. 
Why am I doing this? 
This is because I realized three things. 
1. I don't have talent for this. I know I don't have to be exceptionally good since writing is a hobby but I feel I don't have the level of writing I should have and I don't feel that I'm going to improve.
2. I'm not having fun. A hobby is supposed to be enjoyable. I'm not able to enjoy writing anymore. If I'm not having fun, how can I expect any of you guys to enjoy my writing especially when I'm not good at it. If I was good at it, I can somehow make it a fun read but like I said earlier, my skills are not adequate.
3. I have a lot more work to do. I have 24 units or 7 classes I have to take. That's a lot and it won't get any better within the year. Alongside that I have to start networking, go to interviews, eventually have an internship/job. It'll be impossible for me to continue writing anything at all.  I have other hobbies that I enjoy more than writing. With all that in mind, writing even 1 chapter a week is difficult for me. 
I think I've been writing for 3-4 years now in total. It's been a long ride and it had its great moments and its horrible moments but I think I enjoyed most of the ride. Thank you to everyone who supported me by voting for the novel and even going to my *******. It's a blessing to have a group of people who enjoys what I write and you were the reasons why I kept going with this novel for a year. Since I won't be back, if anyone by any chance wants to use what I wrote then by all means go for it because it'll be in better hands. I don't know if anyone would really want to do so since my fanfic wasn't really that good but for the ones that do want to continue this then go for it. All in all, thanks for sticking with me and my terrible schedule. I tried to keep it up but in the end I couldn't and I apologize. I'll be a reader just like you guys.
