Corpses covered the entire Devil Blood Star. The sea was dyed red with blood. Pieces of flesh and limbs were scattered around the mountains, rivers, and forests. The planet was now like Hell on earth.
Half of the warriors from the Ascot family and Fernandez family had stayed here and became scattered corpses. The warriors of the Bai family from Dry Bone Star Area were exterminated.
The battleships of Sha Zhao, Wu Feng, Mo Fou, and the others were anchored outside Devil Blood Star. They rode the war chariots, shouting and cheering.
It was several days after the battle.
Blood Devil, Gu Te, Bath, and Fu Wei had sent their warriors to clean the corpses, collecting weapons and battleships, and piling them on designated areas on Devil Blood Star.
Shang Chen had talked to Sha Zhao, Wu Feng, and the others. He had also met Shang Ying Yue. They were now in Devil Blood Star, their countenances solemn.
There was one thing that had flustered them: Shi Yan had disappeared.
Shang Chen, Sha Zhao, Blood Devil, and Cang Yun had searched around Devil Blood Star and even Monster Dragon Star to find Shi Yan.
Unfortunately, even after they had spent a lot of efforts, they couldn't locate Shi Yan.
People then gathered on Devil Blood Star.
Shang Chen was stroking the dim-glowed jade on his chest and hesitating. An Liya and Shang Chen were waiting by him and looking at him.
"Dad, is it really difficult to ask about his situation?" Shang Ying Yue's clear eyes were filled with anger.
An Liya urged her husband. "Don't linger. Ask them."
She guessed that the stone on Shang Chen's chest could contact the Bloodthirsty Force. This force was the most mysterious force in this world with hidden, unknown power. They even had ears and eyes in the God Clan. Otherwise, when the Elder Committee decided to use the God Punishment, Shang Chen could never know it to warn them.
As Shi Yan had disappeared all of a sudden, there were two possibilities in this case. The God Clan had killed him, or he had run away because he was wounded.
As long as they could confirm that the God Clan hadn't killed him, they would know that Shi Yan was safe. And that was enough to Shang Ying Yue.
"You women are so annoying. Alright, alright. I'm going to ask them. Sigh, they will laugh at my face." Shang Chen sighed and mumbled with a bitter face. "If they don't contact me, I'm sure that kid is alright. But you guys don't believe me. Argh..."
A bright gold halo emitted from Shang Chen's eyes. He quieted down and the jade on his chest fluctuated soul energy as if someone was ringing him.
He frowned and used the soul to communicate, his face angry.
After several seconds, Shang Chen took a deep breath and then snorted. "He's alright. When Fick chased after him, he had escaped to the ancient continent he had fused its Origin with. He's recovering his wounds now, so he doesn't have the power to open a space door to get back here."
Shang Ying Yue exhaled in relief and said, "I'm going to tell Sha Zhao and Cang Yun this."
Shang Chen waved his hand to dismiss her. After she had left, he turned to his wife, his face heavy. "What do you think about the relationship between our Little Yue and Shi Yan?"
"I think Shi Yan is not a bad option. His realm is extraordinary and his powers Upanishads are powerful... Yeah, a good match to our daughter," said An Liya.
Shang Chen knitted his brows and snorted, "That kid has so many beauties! As far as I've concerned, there are three women with ambiguous relationships with him staying on Devil Blood Star. We don't know how many more he will have in the future!"
"Yeah, it's troublesome," An Liya sighed as she had a headache. "Then, I will talk to Little Yue. That kid is unfaithful. I think when she knows that, she'll give him up. What do you think?"
"Our Little Yue isn't a little girl anymore. It's hard for her to like someone. She's liked only one guy until now. Sigh, it's too bad that it's that kid. When you talk to her, try to use nice words. Don't create a reverse effect," Shang Chen said begrudgingly.

When Sha Zhao, Cang Yun, and the others knew that Shi Yan had gone to the ancient continent to cultivate and heal his wounds, they were able to finally ease their minds.
Sha Zhao, Mo Fou, Wu Feng, Wu Bai, and Blood Devil talked for a while. They exchanged seals of the teleport formations and then drove their battleships back home.
The seals that they left included the coordinates of the ancient formation in their clans and forces. Once Shi Yan got back, he could use the coordinates to find them easily.
Cang Yun and the members of the Heavenly Monster Tribe decided to wait for Shi Yan.
However, they didn't linger on Devil Blood Star. Bath and Gu Te had invited them to visit Monster Dragon Star.
The Monster Dragon Star was the Monster Clan's territory. Bath and Gu Te were the big leaders of the clan and they had the blood of the immemorial Heavenly Monsters in their veins. They had families and dearly feeling for Cang Yun. When Cang Yun told them the relationship between their tribes, Bath and Gu Te were so thrilled. They had treated Cang Yun and the Heavenly Monster warriors as their distinguished guests.
Fu Wei and Blood Devil had sent their warriors to collect the battleships of the God Clan and the Bai family. They categorized the armors, weapons, pellets, and materials they had collected and distributed to the other forces by their contribution to the recent battle.
After the battle, although the ones who decided to fight until death had received some damages, the materials from the God Clan and the Bai family were enough to make up for their loss. Everybody was excited because of this perfect outcome.
The leaders of the forces knew for whom the reinforcements had come from Fu Wei.
The name Shi Yan became well known around the entire Agate Star Area. He had become the savior of the star area who earned respect from warriors of all forces.
They didn't know that when the name Shi Yan was carved in the bottom of their hearts, it had also shaken the other major star areas and resulted in applause from the big clans and forces around the universe.
In the battle taken place in Agate Star Area, the God Clan had sent the Ascot family and the Fernandez family together with the Bai family of Dry Bone Star Area. They used the God Punishment and the Sky Bridges...
And the results were the obliteration of the Bai family. Half of the warriors of the Ascot family and the Fernandez family had to bury their corpses in the battlefield. Their power had massively decreased and they had to run away helter-skelter. This was the only time throughout the past thousands of years that the God Clan had to bear such bitter fruit. After this battle, the Ascot family and the Fernandez family had become the weakest families of the God Clan.
It was a significant humiliation to the God Clan, but it cheered up the other major star areas. Shi Yan had connected many forces in this battle and his name was famous now.
He was now known as the successor of the Bloodthirsty Force, the new descendant of the Immortal Demon Clan, the eternal ally of the Heavenly Monster Tribe, and the first warrior to ever succeed in resisting against the God Clan. His name had become a hot topic and people were talking about him everywhere.
The bad defeat of the God Clan had boosted the other's morale. They now knew that the God Clan wasn't invincible. The warriors who were trying to survive under the pressure of the God Clan in many star areas began to have different thoughts.
And the forces that were in a dangerous situation in a battle against the God Clan felt new vitality pouring in them when they heard the good news. They gritted their teeth and clenched their jaws to resist. They would never yield.

Inside a group of asteroids that had red soil, many warriors of Fiery Rain Star Area were hiding. Yu Shan, Xiao En, Xuan Fei stayed with many other warriors there. They all looked tired.

Yu Shan beamed a rare smile. "Confirmed. It's true!" She screamed excitedly, "The God Clan was defeated in Agate Star Area! Right next to us, the battle against the God Clan has a big victory! Half of the Ascot family and the Fernandez family were killed, and the Bai family was uprooted!
The dispirited warriors of Fiery Rain Star Area started to cheer loudly when they heard Yu Shan screaming.
Xiao En grinned and then turned to Benny, talking earnestly, "Shi Yan has done all of these. He facilitated the defeat of the God Clan. However... the threat in Fiery Rain Star Area is still there. We still need you. Help us contact Shi Yan!"
When he talked to Benny, he was extremely respectful. It was because Benny had brought the positive changes to Fiery Rain Star Area for many years. Half of the merits in this star area's war belonged to Benny.
"I will try my best," said Benny arrogantly.

Today, the Chiefs of all the twelve families of the God Clan had gathered.
The current Chief of the Bradley family, Byers, was sitting neatly under a statue in the center. His white hair draped around his shoulder. He looked stern and resolute, and his eyes were like stars, mysterious and unpredictable. He looked at Ranno and Fick and thundered, "You two still have the face to come here? Our clan has been prosperous for ten thousand years and because of your defeat, our morale has reduced massively. You should die to pay for your sin!"
Fick and Ranno discolored, but they stayed silent instead of answering.
They had made mistakes, so they didn't dare to snap back. The Bradley family was the strongest family among the twelve families of the God Clan. Even when they were at their peak, the Ascot and the Fernandez families weren't as strong as the Bradley family, let alone now when they were damaged badly.
Byers was the Chief of the Bradley family, his power Upanishad extraordinary at Third Sky of Incipient God Realm. Rumors said that he was just half a step away from the Immortal Realm. It was also the reason why Fick and Ranno didn't dare to retort.
"Byers, what do you have to criticize them? If Haig hadn't failed, how could many things have happened like that? It's your son's fault. He made my son Harson die there! Your Bradley family has to bear the responsibility!" A lanky old man with a sinister face bellowed, his eyes flaring like a wild flame. He looked as if he wanted to fight Byers instantly.

"If Harson hadn't messed it up and troubled Haig a lot, how could Shi Yan have taken the Genesis Fruit?" snorted Byers.
"Alright, alright. The Elder Committee has confined Haig in the God Sealing Cliff to repay for his mistake. If he can't break through to Incipient God Realm, he will never be able to get out of there. It's a critical time. Don't quarrel," said Aimo, the Chief of the Bramos family. He comforted the other two and prevented them from causing an internal dispute.
While they were discussing, the ancient statue in the Ancient God Hall released turbulent soul energy. The soul altars of the Elders emerged above the statues.
One of them merely announced the decisions of the Elder Committee, "Declare the overall war!"

"Should you be smoking that" I rolled my eyes as I turned to see a boy staring at me. Which was strange for a few reasons.
The first this boy did not go to my school. This was Hawkins, you know everybody, and if not, you at least recognize them.
And second. There was supposed to be no one here. I was in the back yard of a house my mother was trying to sell. To make some extra money, I help her clean the homes she sells and play the supportive daughter.
"Who the hell are you?" I said, making sure my shoulder was covered.
The boy's eyes drifted to my shoulder for a moment. I knew he saw it.
"You could answer the question." He said blankly. Why didn't he bring up the scar? It was the first thing people asked about, but he treated it like it wasn't there. 
"You could answer mine," I replied, raising a hand up instinctively.  
"Not how it works, Curls," he said. "I asked first."
I signed, "Do you really think you should be asking me that while you are smoking?" I gestured to his lit cigarette.
"That's not a cigarette though," He gave me a knowing smile, while I just bit my cheek.
"Sure it is," I held the joint and smiled. "You haven't answered my question."
"I am no one you would know," He said. "That's my answer."
"Fine, be allusive, I guess," I paused, taking another drag. "Then, I get another one," I knew when to change tactics, and the stranger seemed to allow that. "Any reason you are in this back yard?"
"What's it to you?" 
"Pretty sure you aren't supposed to be here," I replied. 
"You live here?" He asked. Blatantly ignoring my question. Again.
"No." I huffed. Facing him to meet his gaze, "But I still know that you aren't supposed to be here."
"So this house… isn't for sale?" The mand ran a hand through his curls, I was utterly entranced by the movement. 
My eyes suddenly widened as I realized my mistake. I dropped the joint and let it hit the grass. "Are you looking at the house? To buy?"
"What's it to you if I am?" He took a pull and looked at me. His blue eyes made me think of the memories I cherished. He held my gaze, I didn't know why I was so trapped in him, but he was… just so much like-
"Hey, Curls, you going to answer my question."
"You don't answer any of mine" I folded my arms. This seemed to annoy the boy.
"Maybe because they are all dumb questions,"
I wanted this conversation to be over. This man was teasing me, and I hated to be teased. "My mom is selling the house. She is a realtor. Are you interested or not?"
"Does it look like I am trying to buy a house?" He took a pull from his cigarette again. He was dressed just like every movie stereotype bad boy I had ever seen. I shouldn't be staring, I should be running away. Especially since he pissed me off so much. Yet I found myself desperate to continue the conversation, despite everything saying not too. 
Guess I was a glutton for punishment.
"Good." I relaxed as I bent down and picked up my joint. "So my mom isn't here," I relit it and turned back to watering the flower bed.
"Oh…" For a moment, something I said seemed to stop him, like a TV turning on. A devious smile spread past his lips. "You worried mommy is going to find you doing bad things." The stranger was teasing me, and I kept falling right into his hands.
"I" My pride got me to shut up. The boy was looking at me, staring at me in a way I wasn't comfortable with.
"You don't have to admit it." He went to the wall and leaned back, so he was in my eye line. For a moment, I didn't say anything, but I couldn't help but continue to stare at the "Stop staring at me."
I looked away. "Sorry… you just remind me of someone."
"Some boy from school" this was the first question that seemed to matter to him. I don't know why, but it did.
I smiled, thinking of days at the beach. "No… I haven't seen this person for a long time."
There was a pause as the boy looked at me. "Well, I am not fucking him, so stop staring." His voice was harsh. It almost looked like he regretted what he said. But I knew better than to think he was kind enough to regret how he snapped at me.
My stomach jerked, and the warm feelings melted away. "I think I fucking know that. Like I would be friends with a jerk like you."
"And like I would hang out with a bumpkin," He shot back.
I frowned. "So I take you aren't a local"
"What made you guess?" He said sarcastically.
I knew he was rhetorical, but I decided to take the bait. "You're bullshit attitude was a bit of a hint."
"You caught me… I wouldn't live in this shit hole. Not if I could help it." He laughed. I seemed to entertain him. Something about that made me even angrier. "I doubt you are either."
"I have been here most of my life," I scoffed.
"And yet," He let out a long breath of smoke. "You have nothing of this town in you."
I narrowed my eyes. "You have been here for ten seconds and have known me for less. I wouldn't call you an expert."
"I will give you some advice" He walked forward. "Get out of this town, go back to California. Find that boy, doubt he remembers you, though."
"You don't-" Heat rushed to my face. Who the fuck was this guy, and why was he talking. "Can you just fucking leave?"
"Did you hear a noise" I jumped at my mother's voice.
"Fuck" I jammed the join in the fold of my shirt. "You said she wasn't here."
"First off, I never said that" I pushed passed him and grabbed my bike. "Secondly, how was I supposed to know the realtor was your mom." He paused. "Oh wait, you told me!"
"Fuck you," I whispered, right before I jumped on to my bike. I thought of that the boy the whole way home. It was when I pulled into my driveway when I realized he knew I was from California.

Strange. But Stranger things have happened in Hawkins.
"There she is," Steve was waiting for me outside of my house. I panted as I walked to him. Steve reached up and hugged me warmly. "Ew you are sweaty,"
"Nice seeing you too, Cuz," I said sarcastically. I looked over Steve's shoulder and then looked back at him. "No, Nancy today?"
"Yeah, I thought you and I could have a day together." He shrugged.
"Really?"
"Yeah…" he gave me a look. I knew what that meant.
"The bridge?"
"The Bridge,"

"That guy sounds like a grade-A douche," Steve said as he passed the joint back.
"I agree." I breathed. "But it is whatever, tell me more about your essay,"
Dead silence greeted me. Apparently, that was a sore subject.
"Nancy?"
More silence.
"That mole you have that you think is a third nipple?"
"It IS Gene," He snapped. "I have shown you so much evidence at this point."
"It's a mole, you have a mole." I giggled.
"Do you want to push you in?" Steve said. "Is that what you want."
"No," I scooted away from him for good measure. Steve would have definitely followed through if he could. I knew him well enough. I also knew that I would be laughing the whole way down.
"Hey… do you ever think about it…"
"Gene…" He looked up at the dark sky and sighed. "Honestly, I try not too. Things are good, normal now."
"I just-"I took a breath. I still remember following Steve to the Byers house. I remember how hard we all fought to get through that night… I also remember the look on Nancy's face when we found out Barb was dead.
Barb.
"Hand me that bottle," I ordered. I took the biggest gulp I could take without gagging.
"Hey, calm down," Steve said. "Aunt Tess would kill me if I brought you home wasted before school even starts."
I glared at him. "I can hide it." I made deliberate eye contact as I took the next swill.
"Jesus." He looked at me with a sadness that made me want to throw the bottle away forever. Even if it meant seeing Barb. "You can't keep blaming yourself."
"Yes I can" I looked down at the reflection of the calm river beneath us. I saw my distorted image.
"You are cut off," Steve said as he took the bottle from me.
I shrugged and got up. "We should probably head back. God knows my mother will have a fit."
"Sober up a bit first," Steve said as he wrapped an arm around my shoulder. I let myself fall into his weight for a moment.
I regretted that.
Instantly I felt the push and then the fall. I fell into the water, and for a moment, everything was quiet.
"Fuck you, Steve," I gasped as I treaded on the surface.
He was smiling. "You are smiling." He said. "So, you can just say thank you like a normal person."
I smirked as I began to float on the surface. "You are right…. Thanks, Steve." Steve had a way of getting me out of my head better than anyone. He was my big brother, even if we were just cousins. When I came to Hawkins, he teased me mercilessly, but I didn't worry about feeling homesick. I didn't worry about missing him.
"YOU'RE WELCOME," He yelled, followed by a splash. I waited for him to come to the surface, timed my shot perfectly.
He popped up, turned to me. And bam.
I shot water in his face.
"Gross Gene," He spat while I giggled. We then began to laugh together. "This is going to be our year Genie." He said suddenly. "You and me."
I smiled as I tread in the water. I believed Steve, with that confident smile, how could I not?

Dear Billy,
           I honestly can't believe I still write to you. You should see the look my mother has every time she sees I'm sending you a letter. It's like I'm ten, and we are hiding messages on the beach again. Things are pretty much the same as they are in Hawkins, Jonathan has been a little more clingy than usual. I think he is really suffering with Nancy and Steve... but he shouldn't.
Nancy is probably going to break up with Steve… I haven't told him. Mainly because I don't know what he will say, or even if I am right. I see them together and … I see she is faking it all. I can't blame her. After everything that happened last year, I would also have a hard time adjusting.
I know if you are reading these, you want to shake me by the shoulders. I still haven't told you everything that happened last year. I still have nightmares. But things are getting better. I don't think that jerk even saw my scar.
Anyway… I will fill you in on next week. Halloween will be exciting.
Wishing I was there
Genie.
My hand brushed passed my arm. Gently tracing the scar that covered most of my shoulder. My spine went cold, thinking about the pain that came with it, the bite that shattered my collar bone.
I wish that attack was the worst of it. That Barb wasn't dead.

I took the letter and began to rewrite it in my journal. Making sure I knew exactly what I sent.
��Genie?" A knock came from the other side of my door.
"Yeah, Pa?" I opened the door. My father smiled down at me. "Dinner is almost ready, come downstairs, we have a surprise for you.
I smiled as I followed my father downstairs. He returned to his spot in the kitchen. I could tell risotto was on the table just from the smell that filled the downstairs. "I will need your opinion on this dish for the restaurant. I think it will be a new favorite.
"I am excited," I said as I sat down at the counter. My mother looked over to my father and smirked. Like they were sharing a secret. "What's going on…"
"We have some news."
"Oh, please tell me we're not getting another brother." I was the only girl in my family with three brothers. Two were in college while Toney stayed behind and worked with dad at the restaurant. The idea of another sibling was a little more than I wanted. 
"Gene." My mother shot me a stern look.
"Sorry," I said.
"Hello!" Tony walked through the front door. He stepped forward and kissed my mom on the cheek and then sat next to me. "What's up, shorty?"
My eyes narrowed. "Not much bald spot."
He wrapped me into a noogie. "I do not have a bald spot."
"But you will," I teased.
"Tony!" My father piped up. "Let her go. We have something to tell her."
"Sorry, Pop," Tony, let go immediately. He patted me on the head, and I grinned up at him.
"So," My father brought the conversation back to me. "We are going to have some new people in that house your mom has been selling,"
"Oh," I tried not to look disappointed. That was my favorite spot to smoke.
"Do you want to know their last name." My mother was clearly excited. I couldn't figure out why.
"Sure," I shrugged.
"Hargrove."
If I was holding anything, I dropped it. I looked at my parents with my jaw on the ground. "Do you mean…"
"Billy and his father are moving up to Hawkins," My mother said. "I talked to him a little bit about this-"
"Billy?"
"No, his father." My mother said. "After… you know, we kept in touch. He was looking for a town to settle in because he just got married" I wondered how Billy felt about his stepmom. But I was going to see him. I was going to see my best friend again. "So I told him, why not move to Hawkins."
I stared at them. I was going to see Billy. "When will he be here?"

My hands gripped the platter as my father put a hand on my shoulder.
I was nervous. Nervous, I would drop the dish, worried that my bra was somehow showing. Worried, we somehow got the wrong house, despite spending most the summer here helping my mother sell it. I was even nervous that I put salt in these cookies instead of sugar. All these little things made it easier not to think about the actual something I was worried about.
Seeing him again.
He wouldn't remember me. I know what Nancy said, that maybe he might. But it was years ago, and he had grown. Who knew who was behind that door, but I had to convince myself it wasn't the boy I met in California. I had to. I didn't want to feel like I lost my friend.
The door opened, and I almost recognized the man in front of me. He was older, seemed shorter than I remembered, and could see marks on his face from scowling to much.
"Is that Little Genie?" He stepped forward and patted my shoulder. "You have gotten so big."
I smiled shyly. "Thanks, It's so good to see you Un- I mean Mr. Hargrove."
"Please call me Uncle Neil… just like before." There was a sadness in his eyes, but it quickly morphed in annoyance. "Billy, come out here! We have guests." I tried not jumping at the tone, but it was hard.
"Neil," My mother walked forward and gave him a hug. "We brought food."
"Oh," A woman popped out from the kitchen and beamed. "I have heard about Mike's cooking."
"You must be Susan," I said, trying to push Neil's attitude from my mind. Neil took the platter. I walked forward and outstretched my hand.
"So nice to meet you." She reached behind her and pulled a young girl out in front of me. "This is my daughter Max."
I smiled and reached my hand out to her. "Hi, Maxine. I'm Gene."
"You're Gene?" She suddenly was staring at me, strangely- "Are you the one."
"Yes, the daughter of my good friends," Neil and my father were pouring themselves a drink. My mother pushed her hair back. The same way I did when I was trying not to think about something.
I could tell from Maxine's face that wasn't what she was going to ask. But I knew better than to push it.
"Where… Where is"
"BILLY GET OUT HERE NOW" 
I flinched at Neil's tone, and so did everyone else.
There was dead silence before a door creaked open. My stomach was jumping up and down. Billy was coming, he was here.
Footsteps followed, and a figure appeared through the hallway.
At that moment, time froze as my worst fear came to life. The boy in front of me was the jerk from the backyard. He looked right at me for a moment. I opened my mouth and then closed it.
And then Billy, this boy, and my memories crashed into each other. It was Billy.
"Billy, do you remember this girl," Neil said as he patted my shoulder.
He looked at me slowly. I wasn't sure what was going to happen. "Barely." He said blankly. "Nice to see you again... I guess"
What the hell?
My hands were shaking, what the actual hell? This was the boy from the beach?

Gene Conte has lived in Hawkins since she was in the the fifth grade, however she always missed her childhood friend Billy. When Billy comes to Hawkins, she is over the moon, but soon realizes he is not who Gene remembers. She has her own secrets however, like how she got a scar on her shoulder a year ago. While Billy seems set on hating her, he is always around Gene needs him.

William opened his eyes smelling the cold, hard ground on which she was lying 

"What's going on," he said to himself before he recalled the virus that attacked his work computer. 

But as soon as he saw the environment around him his mouth was amazed for a few moments. 
He was in a red circle of 5 m in luminous diameter but the most surprising thing was that the world around him was as if frozen.

He was in a place that seemed to him to be a residential area with children running around chasing each other and people walking in the street but everything seemed to be on pause.

Once finished, he stood ready to start, always keeping his expression indifferent, holding his black backpack in one hand.

The flight home was short and Pearl was thankful. She was still exhausted from the jet lag. Her new attorney was meeting her the following day to discuss the company and the process with all the legalities with the transfer. Pearl knew she wasn't the person to run it and hoped she could handle it for the five years she needed to before she was able to sell it. 
Her and Dylan got back to the house and found a black Escalade parked in the driveway. "Who is that?" Pearl asked. 
"I have no idea." Dylan said. They got out of the car and the Escalade door opened. 
"Jim?" Jim what are you doing here?" Pearl asked. 

"I am your new driver and bodyguard. John hired me just this morning." He said. Pearl smiled and ran to him, hugging him. She missed him. 
"But what about Rhys? You've worked for him for years." Pearl asked. 
"I'd like to think that I protect people with integrity. I didn't give my life as a navy seal and special op to follow around a spoiled little movie star that enjoys treating people as if they were his toys. I called John and asked to be hired. I'm at your service." He said. Pearl hugged him again. 
"Well get your ass inside and have dinner with us." Dylan said. 
They talked and laughed and caught up. Jim told them he quit right after LA and after he found out about what Rhys had done with the marriage lie, he went to his house to break his face but found out someone beat him to it. "I got to his house and he was sitting on the couch with an ice pack on his face. His entire left side was black and blue. I always thought the royals were soft. Boy was I wrong." Jim said, laughing. Pearl smiled. You have no idea. She thought. 

"Good morning Pearl, I'm Phillip Byers, your new corporate attorney and acting CFO of Trigon until we get better settled." 
"It's wonderful to meet you." Pearl said. 
"We are waiting on a few more people. Can I get you a coffee or tea?" He asked. 
"Tea sounds good. Lots of sugar." She said. 
"Pearl!" She turned and saw Maggie walk in.
"Maggie! So great to see you!" Pearl said. "I didn't know you were coming, what a wonderful surprise!" 
"I've missed you so much, it's so great to see you, Pearl. How are you doing? I heard about Rhys. I'm so sorry. How awful." Maggie said. "Things are going very well with our company, we have had so much growth it's been a bit overwhelming.  I've met  with Paul and introduced him to some of the staff here and went over some of the logistics with him. He's a shark. I think he's going to be an asset. Great call on that." She said. Pearl filled her in on her life and possibility plans to move out to Seattle. Maggie was so excited to hear it. "That explains the enormous growth we've had. A prince? Pearl, I'm so happy for you!" Maggie said. 

A few others arrived and Phillip started explaining everything. He said the deal was closed and that Pearl was officially the owner and primary share holder. "I've taken the liberty of hiring all of your own people. The new accounting firm is working with the old to transition payroll and other things"
Phillip explained. They then worked through some of the details of operations. "We've had many new investors and we've signed on 10 new accounts in the last two weeks, three of them overseas." Phillip explained. 
Philip and Maggie brought up rearranging staffing and making cuts to better equip them with more qualified people. 
"No." Pearl said. "No cutting jobs. We can train the employees we already have. I don't want to eliminate one job. Not one." She said. 
"Pearl, we already announced that it was coming. It's ok." Phillip said. 
"No. It's not. No jobs cut. Hire consultants to train, or add positions. But I don't want to cut anyone's job." She said, firmly. 
"Ok, Pearl. We will make it happen." Maggie said, smiling. 
Phillip handed Pearl a folder. Inside was bank account information and three credit cards. 
"One of them is a company credit card, for any corporate needs that come up. The paperwork and other two cards are your personal bank account, directly for your income from the company." He said.
"This is my personal account?" Pearl asked. 
"Yes. Did you not think you would be making a profit?" Philip asked, smiling. "This is what you've accrued income wise since the company transitioned to you." Phillip said. 
Pearl looked through the paperwork. 
"Oh my god. There is over a million dollars in this account." Pearl said, completely shocked. 
"You're now a wealthy woman, Miss Clarke. These are the dividends and distributions, from only about a month. The growth has been enormous since your trip to Italy. I'm certain the investors began to pour in after that. The stock has risen in this company greatly over the last couple of weeks. 112% actually. Congratulations." Philip said. 
Pearl couldn't believe it. "Thank you, for everything." She said. 
"We will be in touch. I understand you will be at the Seattle office next week. We look forward to seeing you there." Maggie said, hugging her. 
Pearl walked out the door and exhaled. Things were falling into place and it felt fantastic. Jim was waiting for her out front. "Jim, my friend, let's get a beer. It's on me." She said, smiling.
