A long time has passed since a Jabami last stepped foot in Hyekkao Private Academy. A new school year is now starting with a fresh new set of student council. Many students is now about to experience what makes Hyakkaou different from other academies. Jabami Yuki is one of them.

Nobody understood what happened first. However, his daughters were thoroughly surprised when he described where his finger burned. Jose's mind came to look at the footage. Soon, Nati's parents watched videos of their tall daughter's room. However, no stranger was visible. But they noticed that their dogs were looking at a stranger. They were confused that what the dog was looking at was not seen. They both stopped by the dumura. It was not something seen. 
-Jose, what is this! What is happening. Who is this invisible creature?
 -I don't know, Freyi, I've never seen anything like this in my life. 
 -Jose, a problem came to me, it sat inside me. Say something!
 -I was surprised what to say, wife. 
 -Otherwise, the curse got into the house, is that it? 
 -Come on, come on. I do not believe in such things.
 -I believe. If it's not a curse what?
The possibility that the cameras were broken came to Jose's mind first. But the videos were clean. Then they both emphasized that an unidentified person was a joke.There was no use saying "But, but ..." Their family took the road to the police. This case would also make the police officers who took over the job very difficult. The next morning, there was an attempt to attack police departments' computers from the dark web. The videos from Jose's house also fell into the hands of hackers. The whole world got out of hand with this attack. Everyone's judicial, public order and official records flowed into the deep web, and many materials spread throughout the Internet. But it first came to Nati's mind that images of their home would land on the Internet and become famous or phenomenon. Jack alternated between laughing and sadness. Nati advised mom and dad to follow internet forums. Jose and Freyi looked warmly at this. There was an internet watch, after work. The allegations were coming one after the other. Many people say that the videos are "not like videos of home security footage", "they are just an unpleasant and lousy joke" and so on. they were saying things.One person claiming to have mental illness said the videos could contain encrypted messages. He explained this by his ability to reflect and gave him confidence, backed by the retention of his past comments. An anonymous user announced that he was decoding the videos. How he did this, however, remained a mystery. Nati told the Anonymous user to his family. Again, they headed for the police. Nati had been a favorite of the police. Chief cop Eli Peresh is telling Nati long words, but without boring him, he was trying to catch clues about the anonymous user's secrets. On the one hand, staff members were questioning commentators on the internet. Remsei was questioning someone for the first time:
 -Yes, start talking. What do you know about the videos? 
 -I believe these videos are the factor of mysterious sects. Based on what are you saying this? 
 -Because supernatural events, as you know, are asked of them. 
 -I don't take these things seriously. Speak up, who are they?
Police Eli warned Remsei to complete the interrogation, saying he would continue the interrogation again.

JOSE, 26 YEARS OLD, STAYS A PRISON ON THE SPACE SHIP FOR 8 MONTHS, THERE IS THE COLLABORATION OF ANOTHER PRISONER THERE IS ATTEMPT TO ESCAPE TOGETHER. EVERYTHING HAPPENS IN A SERIES OF SOME COINCIDENTIAL AND FATEAL EVENTS. THERE ARE NERVOUS CRISES AND EXCITING ESCAPE ROUTES! THIS STORY IS SUITABLE TO BE READ IN A "ONE" BREATH!

Sprawled out on the green grass and passed out was a white youth dressed in black sleeveless shirt and shorts. A cool wind ruffled his clothes while the sun cast a warm glow on his snow white hair. Ever so slowly, the youth opened his eyes, the bright red a stark contrast to his black clothes and white hair. 

Miu Furinji was confused about many things. How did this young man get here into Ryozanpaku and when did he get in? Why was there a suitcase filled with money next to him? What did the note attached to it mean when it said "Take care of him"? Everything about the situation was baffling, but in the end she decided to just kneel here and wait for this stranger to wake up which it seemed he was finally doing.

Miu watched with immense curiousity as the young man pushed himself into a sitting position, his almost glowing red eyes, the clearest and brightest red Miu had ever seen, filled with a look of confusion. He blinked a couple of times as he looked around, giving Miu the impression that maybe even he didn't know where he was. He seemed to have no clue as to what was happening to him, looking around before shifting his gaze onto her.

"Um, hello," Miu said politely. "Are you okay? Do you need any help?"

The teenager blinked a few times before responding. "Who are you? Where am I?"


Miu smiled as she sat down on the grass in front of the stranger. "My name is Miu Furinji and your currently on the lawn of the place called Ryozanpaku, home of various martial arts masters. Can I ask what your name is?"

The youth seemed to ponder this question longer then he should've. The next thing that happened however was completely unexpected as the stranger suddenly clutched his head in agony, as if just trying to recall something as simple as a name was too painful. He didn't scream, but Miu could see just how much pain he was in through his obvious expression. 

"Whats wrong, are you okay?" Miu asked, reaching out a hand, wanting to help. "Are you injured? Wounded? I can't help you if you don't tell me."

The young man didn't say anything at first, he judt slowly calmed down, eventually removing his hands from his head. His red eyes focusing on Miu's blue ones once again. "I don't remember my name. I cant even remember anything, at least anything important. When I just tried to recall anything, I got a sharp pain in my head."

Miu thought over what the stranger had said before standing up. "I'll be right back, don't go anywhere okay?" She gave him a small smile before turning around and running away.

Heading to the long building to the east side of Ryozanpaku that was known as the dojo, Miu went inside to see how her grandfather and the other masters would handle the news.

"I still don't understand why someone would even bother leaving him here of all places." Kensei Ma said as he looked down at the suitcase in the middle of the table. "We don't even know who he is and if he might be dangerous or not. Are we really considering taking him in. Based on some note?"

"Of course not," Hayato Furinji, stroking his long beard. "We're doing it because of the 500,000,000 yen thats inside the suitcase. If it simply means looking after a single brat then we as masters would be fools not to accept it. Money is money after all and we certainly need it."

Miu, having heard what was being discussed, slid open the door to the dojo. "I agree, we should accept what the note says." She walked in and after closing the door behind her. "He lost his memory!! Theres no way we can just throw him back out onto the street."

"Oh, Miu, your back," Hayato said with a grin, still stroking his beard. "However since you claim that the boy has no memories, I can only assume that you weren't able to garner any information from the him. How regrettable.....but it works for us. All we gotta do is feed him, clothe him, and enroll him in the school Miu will be going to next month and problem solved. We keep the money for ourselves."

There was a chorus of clapping that followed the decision in which Shio Sakaki and Akisame Koetsugi clapped their hands together in applause. Akisame looked like he wanted to add something but kept his mouth shut instead, simply clapping along with Sakaki.

After a few seconds however, it got real quiet for a moment Sakaki took notice of something while picking up a beer bottle. "Hey, has anyone seen Apachai around? I thought we were all in the room together a few moments ago?"

Everyone looked at each other, no one uttering a sound as they processed that Apachai wasn't with them. Of course, once it finally clicked, there was a huge hustle out of the dojo as they rushed to go and look for the stranger. Apachai tended to get excited around strangers and would begin to accidently break things in his excitement. There was even a chance that he could scare off the stranger with his intimidating physique that normally frightened people off.

However, their fears turned out to be unfounded as Apachai seemed to be practicing while the youth looked on from a distance. He hadn't moved from where Miu had told him to, but from where he was sitting, he could clearly see the training posts that Apachai was currently practicing on.

Letting out a small breath, Miu walked over to the stranger and sat down beside him. "So, we've decided to take you in. Isn't that great?!"

The young male looked ay Miu for a few moments before giving her a small smile. "Sure, I guess its okay. I don't necessarily understand everything thats happening to me right now so I guess thats the best option."

"However, I'm still unsure about what to call you," Miu said. "We should call you something otherwise it'll get confusing. Anything you'd like to be called?"


The young man seemed to think about it for a second but ended uo shaking his head. "I can't think of anything good. How about you come up with a name for me?"

"You want me to?" Miu asked, a bit in shock. She composed herself quickly however and smiled. "I do have a great name that I once read in a book. How about Jack Evergreen? Sounds neat right?"

I watched the stranger walk over Arvest's rifle and stand on top of it.

"Levistas conterioas."

He spoke aloud those strange words and something amazing happened. The rifle began to float with him still balanced on top of it. It was like a miracle. It was like... No... It couldn't be, could it?

Magic?

Could this stranger control magic? Is that what he used to kill my comrades?

The stranger hardly waited at all before he zipped off toward the black tentacled god.

Is he going to fight that thing? If he is protecting us, why kill his own people? I must be missing something.

*BOOM!*

A loud bang and a bright flash from behind caught my attention. I saw the god emerging from a cloud of smoke. I watched as the stranger made some odd motions and made a circle appear before him. I couldn't hear what he said but I could hear him say something aloud. The circle summoned forth a massive fireball and it launched at the god.

*BOOM*

It was louder than the last time. The stranger had to be using magic. It's the only thing I can think of.

I pushed Arvest's arm off of me and scrounged up some more ammo for my gun. I wasn't about to go anywhere unarmed. I picked up my rifle and found it was broken. Cut in half from whatever spell the stranger used. I looked around and saw a bayonet sticking out from under another body. The body was heavy, but the prize would be worth it. Sure enough, this rifle was in great shape.

*BOOM BOOM*

The god and the stranger were getting closer. I hid behind a tree that was not cut down by the stranger's spell. Footsteps caught my attention. A soldier was coming this way. He leaned up against the tree, next to me.

"What happened here? What's going on?"

"That... god and the evil stranger are fighting. The god seems intent on destroying us while the stranger... I don't know what he wants. He is the one that killed these men and cut down these trees with magic."

"Magic? That can't be."

The soldier pulled out an extendable eyepiece.

"That "god" has a person inside of it. A male in a cloak. I can't tell what race but likely beast-man. The stranger... THAT'S HIM!"

"Him?"

"Yes. I've been..."

*BOOM* *CRACK*

"Magic? That was fire and lightning? And he was the one to summon it! This is amazing! This person is the one who showed us how to make guns. I've been looking for him ever since he first showed up. I knew he was different. I don't know if he is from another tribe on the outskirts but, he is our savior!"

"Did you hear what I said? He killed these people around us. They are dead because of him."

He looked at me with a somber look. Like I was dashing his dreams.

"That... that must be some kind of mistake. What reason would he have to kill us? We're the same race."

"I saw it happen. I would have been dead if my friend hadn't..."

"Well. Whatever the reason, he is fighting that thing for us now."

*SHEEEEEEEEEE* *WHAM*

One of the god's tentacles slammed down near us.

*SHEEEEEEEEE* *WHAAM*

Another one, even closer.

"HAHAHAHAHA! COME N' GET ME, USER!"

The stranger yelled out as he surfed through the trees, dodging left and right as the tentacles came down, one after the other in pursuit.

*SHEEEEEEEEE* *WHAAAM*

"We need to get out of here. The next one might come down on us, too!"

Almost as I said it...

*SHEEEEEEEE*

The sound of something massive rushing through the air was the signal for what was to come. I moved as fast as I could.

*WHAAAAM*

The sheer force of the impact sent some trees flying. I was mere feet from the tentacle. The surface wasn't anything like I was expecting. It was writhing as if it was made up of many smaller tentacles or worms made of shadows. It didn't look solid at all.

Before I could continue my examination, the limb had lifted itself into the air. It continued chasing the stranger on the far side of the city's edge.

"Hey. Let's see if we can help him. Maybe he can show us how to use magic and we can fight that evil god together."

I looked at the person in front of me.

"Are you insane? If he doesn't kill you, the god certainly will."

"Are you on the side of that god?"

"What? No. He could destroy our city. I have family down there."

Suddenly, the ground began to shake. It wasn't like anything I had felt up to this point. It got more and more violent as time went on. I could only brace myself on a nearby tree stump.

I looked out toward Anura Alpha. The surface was beginning to bow up. Like something was pushing out from the inside.

Was this some kind of distraction? Was the city below already demolished and lifeless?

Is my family... dead?

"LOOK AT THAT! He is using magic on a scale I have never heard of! I believe it is a land-based spell that retrieves and can throw chunks of land."

"How do you know all this stuff? Wasn't all mana consumed, preventing the use of magic?"

"Of course it was. I just know these things because magic used to be studied and learned from books. I happen to have some of these books and know what some spells look like. I want nothing more from my life than to be able to cast magic myself."

"Impossible."

"Is it?"

He pointed at the stranger.

"If he can do it, why can't I?"

The ground gave one last violent shift before a massive cracking could be heard. I happened to hit my chin on the tree stump. It hurt a lot. I felt around my mouth. I could taste blood.

"LOOK!"

I lifted my gaze to something I never thought I would see in life. The entire surface of Anura Alpha was floating in the air. The first layer of the city was exposed below. Several large chunks were breaking away and falling onto buildings.

There was no way that people were not dying.

"Look at that. If he was here to save us, he wouldn't use magic that was so careless. People are dying! Our people!"

"Casualties of war. Collateral damage. War is never pretty."

That was when I knew we were too different to agree on anything. This male is inanuran. He only sees his goal and does not care about anything else.

"Do whatever you want. I'm not staying around here."

I told him.

"What? Where are you going?"

"Both of those monsters need to be stopped."

I ran toward the fight. Even if I end up being just a small pebble on the road to them, I need to do something.

I can't go home and say I ran away.

The fabled potion of Rage is protected by elves in order to prevent the destruction of the world as it is known. After safeguarding the potion for 1300 years, a single human from another world fell from un-survivable heights and manages to land in the building in which it is held. Lake, a human of all things, has come into contact with this potion and brought dread to the denizens of this world known as Eyse. "Yes a stranger came into my house, a peculiar one indeed. He said he was from the other world or something like that. At first, I thought it was just a bunch of nonsense, but he began to tell me things about my life that I hadn't told anyone else. Very private things that I had never told my colleagues, wife, and children. It was really all bizarre and I entertained him like what I did with you." "He said he was from the other world?" asked Tanaka who was stricken with fear by the unravelling of things. "Yes. The other world, a world that was more close to the heart of man as he had said. The man asked me a lot of questions about how it felt to be human, living through life and enduring hardships. I told him that I wasn't the best at this life coach business, but he insisted that I had input worthy of a good listen, so in the end I told him about my life's journey and the funny thing is that he marvelled at how I lived with my blindness." "Who is this stranger?" asked Tanaka who was quivering over Mr. Hambira's story. "He calls himself Mweya Mutema, the chosen one of his race. He admired that I had lived through my divorce and loss of eyesight and was inspired by what drove me to not give up on my life. Being blind wasn't a joke. I had to go through therapy, guidance in the art of knowing my environment and reading those dreadful Brailles, but what excited him was that regardless of my effort to become bigger than my problems, I was still depressed. My blindness impaired my ability to see my wife Martha's frowns and the scorn my children. The stranger said that he was fuelled by the darkness of my life, it gave him the resolve to not give up, something that didn't make sense to me initially, but which later made sense after much after thought." "What are you talking about Sekuru? I don't understand." asked Tanaka who was getting even more confused by the old man's monologue."

 

What do you think drives people into doing things? Is it money, fame, love, or fear? Most would go for the positive and more charismatic responses, but the ugliness of the world has been summed up by the dreadful fear that conditions us to a certain behaviour in a way. Insecurities, acceptance from peers, desire for status and so forth are one of the factors, but when one accepts this fear and becomes one with it, he realises that there is nothing much to live for and that the world is a bleak form of shit. Apathy is the only reasonable belief in our world today. Everything is just a lump of vanity conditioned into making people run away from reality, the reality of us being the source of our own fears. Noble ideals and happiness are just a euphemism to a very cruel joke. The stranger agreed with me and commended my apathetic nature towards the world, because I hate the world Tanaka. I live in it knowing it's what conditions us to be horrible and sad people. So in the end when one becomes one with his fear, he accepts that he has no control and is but a pig in an abattoir, awaiting a glorious slaughter." "Old man why are you saying such ugly things?" asked Tanaka who was beyond confused by the sudden depressing tone that the old man was using. It was as if something had snapped in between retelling his encounter with the stranger known as Mweya Mutema. "It is not ugliness, it is but the insanity that harbours the world and recycles itself, adding more and more suffering. This stranger I met was a product of humanity's suffering. He said his kind were the product of man's sin, all the sin of the world turned into the evil we know today. An individual in the end cannot run away from their fears or insecurities. It is what we are and until we can accept that we will just live life based on false hope." As Mr. Hambira spoke freely, the two of them suddenly heard a strong thump that resembled that of a shock wave. The shock made everything in the apartment vibrate, shaking more vehemently as the sound drew nearer. From what Tanaka could hear, it was most probably coming from the Harare gardens, drawing near the Julius Nyerere way. Each thump got stronger than the one before it, knocking down furniture from its ledges and various mounted points. Tanaka could not understand what the hell was happening, but what Mr. Hambira had to say quickly made the horror of what was happening in the infinite darkness clear. The unsavoury encounter with one known as Mweya Mutema was upon them. "His here, his here, why is he here. He gave me one more day. Why did he come so soon?" complained the blind man who was now hyper ventilating again. Tanaka was just in manic confusion, wondering what hardships were lying ahead and worrying about Mr. Hambira who was panicking. The old man was obviously afraid and so was Tanaka, but he had the torch, the light that had eradicated the darkness before him in his earlier tribulations. Though he was also entranced in fear, Tanaka couldn't afford to show weakness. "Old man I can protect you, my torch can kill these things. I don't know what the stranger is like, but I can help!" shouted Tanaka who was now heading towards the old man who had fallen to the ground due to the shock waves. "You don't get it boy, nothing can save me; he fucken ate my granddaughter and violated my daughter. He now rules this world, that evil bastard. He couldn't even keep a promise to an old timer like me. His an evil heinous monster, leave me here to die!" "No!" he shouted, seeing the ground separate in two, as it burst for unknown reasons. The tilting of the floor made Tanaka fall back, slamming into the wall behind him. The vibrations were now more audible and had the kind of impact to deafen ears. The next thump caused great turbulence, making Tanaka's body behave like a ball after a cataclysmic hit during a snooker play. He was now separated from the old man and the upper floors of the building began to crumble downwards. The entire building had been struck by something big, causing many of the upper floors to cave in as he glanced upwards, seeing the inevitable death dropping before him, the torch he wielded began to glimmer again as if a vortex of large amounts of photons, compressed into a cylindrical object. Tanaka's darted torch incinerated the 7 story building's upper floors, destroying the debris of the crumbling apartment as well, leaving only dust clouds of ash and smoke. Tanaka was lucky to be alive, having survived yet again a potential dreadful death. The boy put himself back together and began to crawl upwards over the inclined floor of Mr. Hambira's apartment. Only the parts of the ground floor remained, the rest of the building was now just forgotten collateral. Tanaka began to call out the old man's name, at the same time heard the violent tumultuous thumping in the infinite darkness. Each thump nullified his shouting, making the whole process of calling out Mr. Hambira's name pointless. He finally got to the tip of the cracked floor plain and pointed his torch at what lied beyond. There was a pit lying in between his cracked floor and the old man's side of the plain. The old man was lying on the ground, crying as creatures from the pit below crawled and growled with every intention of devouring him. Tanaka glared at the creatures and pointed his torch at them, releasing his rage on these despicable fiends. The light made the creatures return to the abyss they had crawled out from, saving the old man from peril, but regardless of Tanaka's heroics, something jaw dropping came into his view, maiming him with great fear to the point that he wanted to pluck out his own eyes. It was the abominable fiend Mweya Mutema! He was riding on an 18metres tall vile centipede that had human legs for its feet. The legs had boils and various lacerations, inscribed with blasphemous signs and revolting things that were beyond the boy's scope of descriptive ability. The rest of the centipede's body had giant serpents that looked more amphibious than reptilian. The creature was long and it seemed to have destroyed the ILSA College that was opposite the apartment building that Tanaka was in. The fiend was as tall as the reserve bank of Zimbabwe, a demonic malevolence devoid of any known aesthetics. Its imagery alone violated anything tangible and desecrated it with its own existence. Its gargantuan deformed hands reached out to grab the body of Mr. Hambira. Tanaka who was now looking at the old man in despair had to watch an unsightly scene of grotesque murder, one that completely defiled whatever innocence was left in him. The old man's body was instantly skinned alive by the supernatural pull of the demonic hand, having his skin leave his flesh like a robe that had been yanked off an object it was covering. The skin landed on the hand like bubble gum and merged with its repugnant brittle humus like palm. Its eyes were empty and it only emanated despondency and infinite apathy when Tanaka had taken a look at it. Upon taking the life of the old man, it continued on its course and rode on its gigantic demonic centipede, leaving the view of Tanaka's torch light. Tanaka soon enough cried when the shock waves had deceased, taking in the horror he had just seen and also grieving over the now dead old man. Mweya Mutema was no joke at all. He was the apotheosis of everything ugly and beyond, the bane of Tanaka's existence. He was now all alone again, bound by fear and terrible thoughts, traumatised yet again by foul scenery. The demons in the pit took advantage of the boy's distracted state and dragged the remaining flesh that made up Mr. Hambira into the pit. They simply devoured the leftovers of Mr. Hambira without a care for Tanaka's feelings. The infinite darkness was now much more despicable than what he had initially thought; a panorama of sadness tainted in indistinguishable darkness, the very definition of a living hell. All this young boy could do now was just grieve, the cruel karma for those who survived the madness, the endless cycle in a world of infinite darkness.

Tanaka Manyika was a Zimbabwean form 4 student in his 2nd term of study, and  like every other kid his age, he wanted to pass his end of year exams and move on with his life. However on one particular night his parents and his sister were brutally murdered by two strange men. This was only the beginning to a horrific nightmare; the coming of the apocalypse of infinite darkness was upon him. In that despondent world where everyone in the dark is subjected to despicable mutilation by the creatures of the unknown, Tanaka only has a torch as his arsenal, the only tangible form of light in a world consumed by darkness. Can he survive the end of the world and be the haven of others in despair or will he eventually fall prey to the hopelessness of the world?

"Thank you… for everything. I really appreciate it." Irene stood near the gate of her home, expressing her gratitude to the stranger fellow who did not seem much of a stranger anymore. 

"Anytime." He flashed her a smile, and started his bike, ready to leave.

"Hey, wait. I don't know your name."

He raked his fingers through his hair after he turned off the bike. "But I don't think you are supposed to know." 

The glint of mischievousness in his eyes made her grit her teeth. She drew her brows together, darting a glare at him.

Before she could open her mouth with an aggressive reply, he ceased his mischief. "Fine. Sorry. Ilyan. My name is Ilyan." 

"Nice name. Haven't heard it before," she forwarded her hand for a hand-shake, "I am Irene."

The smile that had crept over her lips upon hearing his name faltered as she found him staring weirdly at her hand. 

"What happened to the 'my hands are dirty' chanting now?" Raising his eyebrows at her, he thoroughly enjoyed teasing her.

"Well," she advanced a step toward him, "someone told me that he doesn't mind them."

"I surely do not. Ilyan is glad to meet Irene." He nodded, slipping his hand in hers. "Next time I see you… I would like to see you doing a lot better."  

She did not even bother to ask him why he said that. He had already narrated things he knew about her based on his understanding. She had not revealed it to him that he was right regarding quite some things and she was not planning to do that either.

He was just a stranger who was going to leave. 

She was going to meet only once to return his handkerchiefs. "Don't forget to text me. I have to return these," she hurriedly reminded him just before he left. He had given her a nod and disappeared.

"Irene… I have been looking for you. Where did you go?" Melissa peeked from the door and when she noticed Irene, she came out. 

"Jogging." Irene was still staring at the way Ilyan had gone when she absent-mindedly answered. 

"Oh my god. What is this?" Melissa rushed toward her, seeing her knees covered in the brown scarfs. 

"Nothing much." Irene walked inside, followed by Melissa. 

"You can't properly walk, Irene and you are saying it is nothing?" Melissa raised her concerned voice before she made Irene sit on the couch and she sat on the floor to check what it was. 

As soon as she took those handkerchiefs around her knees off, she was horrified. Her eyes immediately looked at Irene who hung her head down. 

"I am fine, Angel… I just fell on the road. It was not a hard fall, trust me. I don't know why it is this bad."

Melissa hummed in response, still staring at her knees in dejection. "Did you go to the hospital?" 

"Angeeel," Irene stretched in a bit annoyance, "does this look like a professional dressing done by a doctor to you?"

Melissa adjusted her spectacles as she thought about it. "Oh, this does not. Who did this?"

"Ilyan," Irene mentioned his name casually.

"Who is he?"

It was then it struck Irene that Melissa did not know Ilyan. She felt like a fool, for making it sound like he was her regular friend. 

She gave a sheepish grin to Melissa. "Sorry. He is… Ilyan." She did not know what else she could tell Melissa about him. She herself barely knew anything. "Uhm… I don't know him, Melissa. Just a stranger who helped me with this and also dropped me home."

"Wow. Sounds like a nice boy. Did he drop you? Why did you not call him in? The least we could have done is offer him tea or coffee… whatever he prefers. After all, not a lot of people offer help to the ones in need."

"Angel… he is going to take a hundred pastries from me for this help," Irene told her mechanically."But, I do agree that not a lot of people help these days. He does seem nice that way."

Melissa's eyes widened in surprise. "A hundred pastries?"

"Yeah. Sounds weird, right? Feelings are mutual." Irene shifted on her place to stretch her legs to soothe the pain. 

"We should see a doctor. We would get some painkillers for you also," Melissa suggested. 

"I don't need painkillers but a proper dressing… I am sure I do." Irene got up after informing Melissa that she would have to shower before they head to the hospital. It was anyway quite early in the morning.

"Damn it. Why did I sit? The couch is dirty now." Irene frowned as she stopped in her place.

Melissa just sighed, used to Irene's hyper nature when it came to staining stuff. "I will wash it. I am going to make breakfast. Let me know if you need any help."

Even after Melissa left to prepare breakfast, Irene was still standing there, looking at the couch.

"Ah… please le...ave me." Irene cried uncontrollably, continuing her futile attempts to get her hair out of the rough, and painful grip.

"How dare you spoil the bed with that blood?" 

Irene startled as the loud scream filled her ears and she shut her eyes hard when her hair was pulled mercilessly. 

"So...sorry… I… fell. Pl...ease leave me. I… won't… do it again."

"No….no… please open the door." Irene banged her small palms on the door as she was pushed inside the dark room.

"Your punishment is to stay there for two days… without food." 

"Noo… open… open." Her tiny fists ached but she did not stop hitting the door, pleading to get her out. 

Little Irene had been sitting by the door for hours, continuously begging to let her out but nobody had come to listen to her cries. 

"Da...da. Da...da." With her closed eyes, she screamed while she let her hands fall down in defeat.

"Irene. Why are you still standing there?"

"Ye...yes. Yes, Angel." Snapped out of the past memories, she had to take a couple of moments to assure herself that she was no longer there. She was out of it. She was safe. She was with Melissa… far away from those people who could hurt her. 

'I wish I could change my past.' She hated the way simple things could take her back to the time that she desperately wished to forget. She hated the way she froze every once in a while when terrifying memories took over her mind. 

She had always wondered, why healing never came to her even though acceptance did. 

Perhaps, to heal, her acceptance was not enough.

Sometimes, it all narrows down to acceptance. 

Acceptance of your choices, and their repercussions. To heal, acceptance is important. 

Emotional scars hold the capacity to suffocate one to death. The invisible emotional scars... leave you desperate for help but quite rarely, they find a voice to actually step up and ask for the same. 

Excerpt:

“Out of everything, Ayden – out of everything – this was the most hurtful thing that you could do to me. You set up a guy to woo me to see if I’ll betray you for him or not? You… you made him act that ultra-rich way, didn’t you? You think so low of me, Ayden? So low? Three years. We have been together for three freaking years and yet?” Irene’s eyes began welling up with tears but she held them back with great difficulty.

“I am sorry. I know I have been a jerk in doing what I did. I accept it. I was insecure. You are,” his palm caressed her cheek, “so beautiful. You always were and I… an ugly overweight creature.” His gaze dropped to the ground. “I thought -”

“We are over.”

This is the guy! 

 It looks like I’m seeing him clearly for the first time. What weird hair. How dare he wear that vesture, what is my Lesley thinking? It's no use at all, he's only wearing the upper side, what an insult, and a vulgar one with that odd stuff that he wears on his lower body. But those shoes are familiar with what I’ve read during the Earth Geriatric Age Class, the rubber shoes. Clearly, he doesn’t belong to any races. Where did this guy come from? 

 Lesley vouched for him to keep him alive, as she’s claiming that he saved her. Well, he knocked me off though, which is unforgivable! 

 What’s wrong with his eyes? It’s dotted pale and his hair is hideous . . . this guy is acting radically, squinting all over up in the ceiling as if there’s something in there. And he’s smiling at people weirdly. Really odd! What is this guy?! 

 I can hear the muttering among the edge audience that is here in the Throne Capital. Even the Edges, they are astonished to see this guy. We’ll see how father will give the thought about him. 

 Another thing that I’m not buying with this guy is that he’s with a Jurassic! What an unforgivable, if it’s not with my sweet little sister I would have gone to vaporize the untamed beast! What’s more is that David saw the beast too, and he’s saying the same thing, that it was tamed and behaved. I don’t buy it until I see it myself! 

 The chattering among the edges faded. The preeminent is here! They all turn all their gaze to the front, to where the silver throne is. It’s still empty. I thought father is already here? 

 “Thank you for all coming here,” father’s voice echoed in the Throne Capital hall. As always he got a strong voice, the voice of a strong man. Solid and vibrating with such sense that whoever will hear, will be eager to hear what’s next. He is the king of Edge Race, the Preeminent--Proginitrim. The Throne which was empty made a bending sight like water in the air. I forget that it’s one of his Aegis, he can disappear all of a sudden. It’s been a while since I've seen him do that thing, the last time I recall it was when we were little children with my children that he would surprise us all a sudden. 

 There he materialized like a cloud in the sky. His green robe embroidered with silver wings circling his robe like an eagle grasping his body. He was setting coolly with those fierce blue eyes, and his silver eyebrows are making them even sharp. The edge race adores him just with his eyes alone that can see a million battle plans. They call his eyes the Holy Grail Eyes. I am a witness to how powerful his eyes are. Even when I was a kid I couldn't outsmart him, I couldn't escape him, I could fool him. And anything that he intended to do to us siblings happened under the palm of his hands. 

 Today I’ll see what will be that sacred eyes could see in this man. 

 They all stood, with a chorusing whirring sound of machines in different sharpness and force. “MIGHT PREEMINENT PROGINITRIM, IT IS OUR HONOR TO STAND BEFORE YOU AND BE GLANCE BY THOSE HOLY GRAIL EYES. WE ARE AT YOUR WORD.” They said in unison. 

 “Have you forgotten your manner neonate prince?” someone said on my right side, I turned, and his forefinger pressed on my cheeks. My eyes widened with joy when I saw who it was. It’s Reve! 

 “Rector Reve when did y--” he pressed further his finger that twisted my mouth and was not able to speak. I just smile and feel happy, it’s been a while he’d done this before. He always scolds me and does this to keep my mouth shut. My personal teacher and master since I was a kid. A sworn edge that has been serving our family for decades as what father said. He raised my father himself, and when he was named king. He then was assigned to tend me and teach me when I was born. But it’s been a while, when I turned 11 he left the city for a special mission. And now he’s back. I want to hug him, but it looks like now is not the best time, a bad day for me! He gestured, for me to look in front, to pay attention to what’s going to happen. So I turned with a smile. Seems like I lost interest in this gathering today, I just want this meeting to be over and talk to Reve. I have a lot of things I need to ask and tell stories about his journey. Unconscionably I was tilting my head looking at the ceiling with an empty mind. I’m overjoyed that Reve is back, I miss seeing him with that red vestu-- he flicks my ear, that I felt a hot sting vibration to unto my head. 

 “Ouch,” I snapped with a smile. I missed all of these things that he did when I was a kid indeed. He knows a lot of things to hurt me even though I’m a modified human, he knows some vital points in the body that would sting. Rector Reve, it’s been a while, but I know, we’ll talk later then. 

 I turn my gaze and pay attention to my father who is sitting on the throne. 

 “Today, we have two visitors, my fellow Edges. First, we must welcome back our very own kind, who’s been out for a mission that I’ve assigned to him for a year. The Red Edge Reve.” The edges seem to not be aware that he’s back, so they were shocked, and chattering among them arose, some were happy, and some were not. I know Reve has been a scary persona even among the Edge race. “And another visitor we had, is the one we have here before us. This man named Philemon,” he narrowed those holy grail eyes to the man in front. 

 “Oh, so you’re her father, the king of robo-- er, I mean the king of all,” the guy said with an empty smile. What was he about to say? Right, you should call him king. 

 “I’m glad that you had your courtesy, wherever you are from, you are taught well, the stranger who saved my daughter.” 

 “Yeah, my father is very strict and meticulous, he even taught me to wash dishe--, I mean he taught me how to behave before a stranger as well,” he replied. What did he say?! Did he just call father a stranger?! How dare! You be careful with your mouth, or else he’ll incinerate you for a second! 

 “My name is Proginitrim, I must welcome you to Edge city, by the way, my apology you have my thanks for saving the princess.” 

 “No problem,” he replied brusquely. What? He’s talking to father casually?! Unforgivable. 

 “In return, you will be treated well in this kingdom and will have anything you need, and you can stay as long as you want Philemon,” father said. What did he say?! 

 “Oh, thank you, so I can eat that delicious meat and sweet snow all I can?” the man said rudely. Someone must shut his mouth! 

 “Sure, you can do it with all your heart’s content,” father consented. 

 The edges were muttering among them with confusion, well who would be? Even so, I can’t accept this! Unbelievable, I must talk to my father! 

 Father gazed at the edges with a sharp eye, and they were shut just like that. “Another thing, it’s actually three visitors that we have, well, if we can consider the third one as a being. He is with Jurassic.” father said. 

 I can see in their eyes, the dread, deeper confusion, and measuring thought, but they never utter a word as father was glaring at them with those eyes. He stood from his throne, pulled his hand, and opened his palm. The edges were terrified of what he’s going to do. Me as well, what is father up to?! 

 “This war is about to end, this man before us is the key. My fellow Edges, he was able to tame the untamed beast. Based on Lesley’s report and her rector David, the beast is indeed behaving unimaginable, of course for us. But they have scanned the threat and prowess, the beast still has it in his cells. The anti-magic and all the potent abilities are still intact. If we can manage to tame those Jurassic, we’ll have the upper hand to annihilate those filthy races.” Father finished. 

 I was appalled by what he said . . . speechless, and amazed. Those eyes indeed can see further than we can. He’s right. We never thought about it even a bit. We should not question him in the first place. I’m sorry father, you are indeed an amazing Preeminent. 

 The edges released a massive clap, they can’t help it, they have been wrong and been amazed by father. 

 “Can you help us Philemon to do it?” he asked. He’s very blunt indeed. 

 “Sure, no problem . . . I’m actually in the process of learning skills and teaching the beast. You’re right, they are indeed untamed, they caused too much trouble I know that. But they can be tamed.” The stranger points his fist on his palm with a smile. Father made him agree easily, the king is indeed amazing even convincing a stranger like him. 

 “You have my thanks once again Philemon,” he looks at the crow, “this meeting is over,” father concluded. They all stood in their seats and started moving out of the throne capital hall. Including father, he vanished as well. 

 Until all that was left was the stranger, my sister, and her rector David. I snapped, it’s about time to talk to Reve, I turned excited to my side, but he was gone. Damn, I knew it, he needs to report to father first. But it’s okay when he’s done talking to father, I will have my whole time to talk to him. I’m so excited. 

 I spun and glanced below to where the stranger was standing. As I sit here on the right side of pews. I saw my sister and rector David went to him. They are talking to him and Lesley seems smiling. Those sweet smiles, it’s been a while that I’ve seen her like that. When was the last time? Was it when we were five or six? I can't remember exactly, but what I do remember of her was her lined beautiful lips and doesn't curve up, we’ll actually me too, I’ve never been so happy like this. Only now that Reve is back. 

 I’m so happy that Lesley is enjoying herself with that guy Philemon the stranger. Maybe I should give him at least a credit, even my father acknowledged him and gave him thanks. Maybe I’m just overprotective. Not only her but Rector David as well is having curving eyes and lips. The guy who has always been numb and brutal is now smiling and laughing. There is something indeed with this man. Maybe I should make friends with him. 

 Yes, I’ll do that . . . but maybe I don't have to, he’s the joy that my sweet little sister and Rector David that has been newly found. And I just got back mine too.

Philemon, a pure human, will be exposed to the world that he didn't know existed. With his pet (a Jurassic) accompanying him, he will be out for an adventure and get involved in a Perennial War of Races that are fighting to rule over the planet: The Edge Race (the modified humans), the Draconian Race (the Barbarians), the Warlock Race (the Wizards), and the Untamed Beast Race (the Jurassic).

"Nngh..."
Shu Xian felt her head aching. She slowly opened her eyes, and the moment she did, she heard Wan Wan's bark, completely waking her up as she sat up abruptly.
"Wan Wan?"
The dog barked once and had already slobbered her face with licks, making Shu Xian giggle as she embraced her dog, tears escaping from her eyes.
"Oh, Wan Wan! I thought I'd lost you last night!"
As Shu Xian was cuddling her dog, at that same moment, she started scanning the room. She saw her university bag and, at the same time, her luggage.
She furrowed her brows when she noticed that she is inside an unfamiliar room, panic already rising from the girl.
"Where am I?"
Shu Xian stood up. The moment she did, she saw her slippers on the floor while her eyebrows connected, wondering why her slippers were out when she made sure that it was in her luggage.
It was as if someone prepared or fixed everything for her.
She wore her slippers, and then she slowly walked out the room, Wan Wan following her. The moment they went out, Shu Xian smelled the fried onions and garlic and heard the cracking of the eggs.
With the scent inviting, Shu Xian could not help but to go into the kitchen.
The moment she did, she saw a man in a suit frying eggs, Shu Xian hiding behind the door frame as she watched him put the eggs on the plate.
Remembering the event before she passed out last night, Shu Xian recalled that she saw a glimpse of a man saving her.
Could he be the one?
With the man turning his back, his eyes widened a bit when he surprisingly saw Shu Xian. He gave her a small smile as he put the plate of eggs on the table, gesturing her to come in and sit.
"Come and have breakfast."
"What?"
It was indeed awkward for Shu Xian to be invited by a stranger.
She scratched the back of her head, her brown hair hanging low as she gave her savior a small bow. When she raised her head, she was still standing in her place, her eyes cautious as she remembered that she is in a stranger's place.
"You're suspicious of me?"
The man then got another plate. He put one cup of rice on it, and then put it on the table, his warm gaze still on the girl that he saved.  
"Eat. You must've been hungry."
Even though the man treated her nicely, Shu Xian didn't find the comfort to move. She reluctantly met the eyes of the man who saved her, opening her mouth to say something.
"Thank you for saving me last night," she thanked him first, "but I think I have to go," she added, touching Wan Wan as if to signal their departure.
The man raised a quizzical brow at her as he cocked his head to the side, a worried look plastered on his face.
"But your belongings are here, you know?"
"I'll take them."
"Do you have a place where you could stay? Based from the things that you had, I think you don't."
Shu Xian turned quiet when she heard what he said. Her lips then turned into a tight line as the man heaved a small smile, gesturing for her to sit down in front of him.
Her answer was already enough for him to know that Shu Xian is alone and that she doesn't have a place to stay.
"You were spunky. You're alone. You should not have attacked those men. Especially, you're a girl."
Shu Xian rolled her eyes at him as she felt that she was being scolded by a stranger. With him still motioning for her to come sit down, she hesitantly did so, her movements still stiff and cautious.
"I can't help it," she mumbled, almost in a whisper. "My dog, Wan Wan, is all I have," she added, the man slowly nodding as he now understood why she attacked them.
"Still. What if I wasn't jogging near the area? What could have happened to you?"
Shu Xian bit her lip. She nodded as the man slightly chuckled, handing her over chopsticks so she could start eating.
"Eat. Based on your belongings, you're a student?"
Shu Xian embarrassingly got the chopsticks from his hand, her movements still stiff as she kept her guard up.
But she had to admit that due to her hunger, she would want to shamelessly accept this man's offer…
"Y-yes..." Shu Xian looked at him, wanting to at least introduce herself to show respect. "My name is Shu Xian. I'm so sorry for the trouble," she said, the man smiling as he sipped his coffee.
"Nice to meet you, Shu Xian. The name's Pan An."
"Pan An…" Shu Xian mumbled, "Like Pan Yue, the prominent Chinese poet during the Western Jin dynasty?"
Pan An grinned at what Shu Xian had said. He nodded to acknowledge what she said then his expression turned serious when a question popped in his mind.
"If I may ask, Shu Xian…" Pan An trailed off as he got a toast and bit it, chewing before he spoke again, "Why were you at the park, and why do you have your luggage?"
"Oh..."
A nonchalant expression appeared on her face. She remembered that she was kicked out by her landlady when Pan An asked her a question.
She sighed as she told him what happened, thinking that it is okay to share this with her savior.
"I live on my own, and I also pay for my tuition. Without paying my rent for months, the landlady told me that I have to move out because she already accepted a tenant who is willing to pay."
"I see."
Pan An's lips turned into a tight line. He wanted to ask her about her parents, but he felt like it wasn't a good question to ask someone when she told him that she had been living on her own and paying for her tuition.
With her voice snappy as well, who would be comfortable to ask such a question?
After Shu Xian spoke, Pan An gave her a pink wallet, bulky as if it had a lot of money inside. Surprised, Shu Xian widened her eyes, looking at the wallet that was placed in front of her.
"What's this?"
"I got the money from those men. Did they take it from you?"
"No." Shu Xian shook her head, "I threw it at them at first because Wan Wan and I felt threatened."
Pan An sighed. He seriously looked at Shu Xian, his words surprising her as her mouth suddenly opened in shock.
"If you have no place to stay, then stay here with me until you could move out."
"What?" Shu Xian's eyes widened, not believing what she just heard. "I can't accept your offer. I know you saved me but we're both strangers."
Pan An shrugged, "Then how are you to pay for your tuition and rent at the same time if you were to look for a place, hmm? It was lucky that the landlady where you stayed at was kind, and you're lucky enough to meet a person who's willing to take you in."
Pan An was right. Shu Xian bit her lip as his words traveled in her mind. She then internally started weighing the pros and cons as Pan An waited for her decision while he was eating his breakfast.
If Shu Xian were to stay, she would earn money from her part-time job for her tuition, and Wan Wan would get to stay. If she was to decline Pan An's offer, then she would have to desperately make both ends meet for her and her pet to survive.
Shu Xian looked at Pan An. She really wanted to take up the offer since she is desperate to make both ends meet. However, with them being strangers, she somehow wanted to shamelessly ask him a question.
"You're not going to attack me… are you?" she asked, Pan An, blinking his eyes a few times as he leaned in closer, whispering:
"I am the serial killer they are looking for. But don't worry… I am a changed man. I want to make up to all of my sins and do great deeds."
Shu Xian's eyes widened, her mouth opening in surprise. "You… what?"
Seeing her reaction, Pan An laughed out loud. He shook his head as Shu Xian raised a brow at him, realizing that she was being teased by a stranger.
"I'm joking. I'm messing with you."
Shu Xian scoffed a bit, ignoring this irksome trait of his as she spoke, telling him what she has to offer.
"To not make it seem like I'm a freeloader, I could cook and do the chores of the house. It won't be a problem," she suggested, Pan An, nodding as he extended his hand to pat Wan Wan, who was near him.
"Then I'll leave the house in your care. The room where you slept is a vacant one, so it's yours."
"Thanks." Shu Xian nodded, still uncomfortable in moving around him as Pan An started looking at his watch.
"I have to go and head for work, then," he said, already standing up from his seat as he put on his blazer. "Don't forget to lock the house before you leave, alright? There's a spare key on the bowl near the door."
"Oh…"
As Pan An quickly left the house, Shu Xian stared at her breakfast with disbelief in her eyes.
The events that happened to her seemed to move up and down like a nightmarish roller coaster!
She was kicked out, she was almost assaulted, then she was saved by a stranger.
It hurt her pride to actually accept a stranger's offer out of whim but because of her desperation to at least make things better while she was being offered something, Shu Xian thought that she should take the opportunity.
She will make sure to repay him back one day…
With her eyes landing on the wall clock on the kitchen wall, her eyes widened as she remembered that the first day of the semester was today and that her first class starts in an hour!
"Oh no…" she mumbled, "I'm going to be late!"
With that, Shu Xian rushed a few bites of her breakfast. She then put the dishes on the sink and decided to wash them later when she got home.
She quickly went inside her room and had rushed to put on the clothes that she first got from her bag. She tied her brown wavy hair into a ponytail, and then she wore her jeans, removing her shirt from yesterday.
She put on a simple red tint on her lips, sprayed some light perfume on her that she got from her bag, then looked at herself one last time in the mirror as she groaned, talking to herself.  
"After one event over the other, I always find myself being lucky or being unlucky! There is no in-between!"

"Good morning, everyone!" 

His sultry voice sounded in the classroom as he greeted his students.  

"Welcome to Assessment of Student Learning class, and I, Pan An, would be your professor."

Most of the girls in the room stifled their swoon as the boys internally rolled their eyes at the women who reacted that way. 

At the back of the classroom, however, was Shu Xian, the only woman who didn't swoon when she saw who their Assessment of Student Learning professor was. 

Her eyes were wide open as her mouth was agape, her heart thumping hard in her chest as she couldn't believe what was happening in her life right now. 

'I am living under my professor's roof!?'

19-year-old university student named Shu Xian was left irreparable when she was kicked out of her apartment due to not paying her rent since she only earned a little from her part-time job.

Tired as she wandered late at night, she decided to rest in the park with her dog until she was about to get assaulted by men! 

Luckily, however, a man who was jogging by the park that same night saw what was about to happen and saved Shu Xian, taking her in for the night at the same time!

Waking up to an unfamiliar place, Shu Xian came out of the room and found the man. He introduced himself as Pan An and upon knowing from Shu Xian that she had no place to stay, had offered her to stay in his place. 

Unknowingly, though, when she went to the university where she studies, it turns out that the man who saved her is actually now her college professor and that they're living together!

With the current situation given to Shu Xian, would she be able to succeed in keeping this a secret while she lives under his roof and studies in the same university where he works? 

Could there be other intentions as to why the professor asked her to stay? If so, what could they be?

Is staying under one roof beneficial to them—or will it just hinder their lives as a teacher and as a student?
