"Sister Kendra may I borrow your cellphone again?" I asked my sister again. Every night I borrow my sister's cellphone just to message her since I don't have my own phone yet and we can't afford to buy one for me.
"You're just gonna text Jen, you always see her in the school so why do you still text her every night?"
"Uhhmm, I can't say what I want to tell her when we are in the school so I could only tell her what I feel through text" I replied
"You shy little boy, how can you make her yours if you can't even tell her what you feel in front of her?"
"I'm just waiting for the right time to tell her in personal what i feel, just lend me your phone for a while sis think of it as a way to help your little brother" i said while wearing a cute smile to persuade her.

Me courting Jen is not a secret to the family although I want to keep it a secret I don't have personal phone so some of our messages with Jen were read by my sister and then she told it first to our other sisters and then they tease me very often so our parents eventually knew what I am doing although they don't say anything about it or they think that it's just normal to have a crush or girlfriend in our age, I still worked hard in the school so that they feel that me courting is not a hindrance with my schooling.

"Hey Karl, Jen's birthday is getting near what will you give her?" asked by Tanya, she's one of my close female friend and she's also a friend of Jen

While he was walking home, he thinks of a gift that she will surely like and make her feel that he loved her so he decided to make a poem.

Then the day of Jen's birthday arrived, after their class they proceeded to Jen's house for a simple celebration of her birthday.

As time passes by, our classmates bid their goodbyes to her and her parents while me and her closest friends were left. At that time her mother came to talk to us and asked if there's someone courting her daughter then her friends (some of her friends are also my friend) instinctually looked at me and then her mother looked at me with slight intimidation and somewhat angry look then she said that we were stil very young to enter into relationships and we must study first and I don't have the words to say to her mother and I just looked down and afraid to look at her. 
After a while we also bid them farewell and we went home. 
When I got home, I texted her "your mother is terrifying i can't look straight into her eyes" 
"hahaha see, I told you my mother doesn't want me to be courted at my very young age so i told you to keep it a secret but you couldn't hide it" she replied
"Okay i promise that i will never ever again talk about our ralationship, let's just text each other and tell to our friends that i stopped courting you so that they won't say anything."
So Karl continued courting Jen through text and never show signs to their friends.

What concern of yours is the abyss of a woman, Gallus Baeticus?  
This tongue of yours is fit to lick the middle of men.  Why was your dick cut off with a Samian sherd,  if a cunt was so pleasing to you, Baeticus?  
Your head should be emasculated: for although you're a Gallus in your crotch,  nevertheless you cheat the sacred rites of Cybele: you're a man with your mouth.  
 
The joke in this poem that Baeticus is still a man because he interacts with female bodies, even though the act of cunnilingus itself is considered degrading for a man to perform. The poet offers another edit for Baeticus' body: that he remove the offending part—his head—because he is not using it correctly, according to his gendered role as a Gallus. The term Gallus brings with it a sense of intentionality: Baeticus has chosen to be emasculated, or perhaps has even emasculated himself. Death is the only solution for the man who has chosen to voluntarily remove his phallic power, for the man who still tries to use his non-masculine body for penetrating. Removal of phallic (generative) power from a body negates self-control and the personhood of the body. The type of sexual violence representative of altering the epigrammatic text that we shall see in chapter 2 will not usually apply to the text represented by the female body (although in certain cases, specifically prior to publication, the text is figured as a vulnerable body, e.g., a woman or puer, who are figured as having less control over their bodies than men).  
Since Martial's poetry has taken much from Ovid's poetic corpus,  we consider here an example of sexual violence as it represents the author and his work. The body as a gendered, editable text (especially representing the author) in tension with genre is on display in Ovid's 
Metamorphoses in the story of Procne and Philomela (Ov. Met. 6.412–674), which has, among other things, been interpreted as the poet responding to censure and criticism of his text.  This story puts on display the fundamental vulnerability of the female body. Philomela's safety should by all social conventions be assured while she visits her sister's family. She is, however, put into peril, not during her journey, but when she arrives by her sister's husband, a man who is 
  
effectively a family member. The poet or the text may be represented as a similar body-type with this specific vulnerability. This showcases for the reader the potential social danger toward the text and the poet's reputation. The reader may choose to safeguard the text for the poet or to abuse the text. There is also a stated anxiety within the text of punishment against the poet by a ruler or other authority. The poet attempts to mitigate this by describing his life and poetry in completely opposite terms. When a poet experiences punishment as a result of a social mistake that comes from his text, he is being punished physically and silenced metaphorically, which is represented by the text in a strictly physical way: the poet Ovid made a mistake in his text (carmen et error, Ov. Trist. 2.1.207), suffers the consequence of being exiled, and has written himself into his text in the figure of Philomela, who is physically punished (the removal of her tongue) for threatening to make a public accusation against Tereus for raping her.  
Talibus ira feri postquam commota tyranni

Then, by these words the rage of the brutal tyrant was incited  and no less than this, his fear, goaded on by both reasons,  he draws from its sheath the sword with which he was equipped  and he grabs her by her hair and forces her, arms behind her back,  to endure chains; Philomela was offering her throat  and conceived a hope for her own death when she saw the sword:  
The tongue, indignant and continuously calling the name of her father  and struggling to speak, grasped by pincers that man removed with his brutal blade.  
The remaining part of the root of the tongue quivers,  trembling it lies on the dark earth and murmurs,  just like the tail of a maimed serpent is accustomed to spasm,  the dying part pulses and seeks the footsteps of its mistress.  After this deed it is also said—I scarcely dare to believe it—that  he returned often to the mangled body with his own desire.  
 
This description of added violence immediately follows Philomela's declaration to make a public accusation of **** against Tereus. Tereus responds with rage and fear to Philomela's threat with more physical violence against her body: he removes her tongue so that she will not be able to speak against him. Her disembodied tongue is endowed with human characteristics as it moves, makes sounds, and seeks to be reunited with Phlomela (6.558–560); Philomela, on the other hand, is reduced to a "mangled body" (lacerum… corpus, 6.562) having lost the power of speech. This is a metaphorical emasculation because the tongue represents speech, which is a masculine power particularly in Rome.  The tongue is one of the most powerful organs a person can possess, but women misuse it. We see a similar event played out in Martial's epigrams with the power of speech being equated to the power of the mentula particularly with its associations with obscenity and obscene speech. Ovid figures the tongue as the organ of poetry, but Martial figures the penis as the organ of poetry. If the text is expurgated or bowdlerized, the poet is emasculated. When Tereus removes Philomela's tongue, he is rewriting (bowdlerizing) her body, making it into something that he prefers. Tereus tries to rewrite the narrative of his physical violence against Philomela by rewriting her body (i.e., cutting out her tongue), but she uses other means (weaving, a women's craft) in order to tell her story and the truth of the events. Both poets 
  
reject—just as Philomela does—this fashioning by another of one's own self and one's own narrative. Ovid writes a character that tells her narrative any way that she is able: first, with her words, and when that ability is taken from, with her weaving. Martial fashions his own textual world  and populates it with people needing correction, like his text (1.3).  The poet acts as an educator, a praeceptor omnium. The poet is the ultimate authority of textual alteration,  and he may alter other bodies and texts, but may not be altered by others.  
The story of Procne and Philomela demonstrates the power of the voice represented by the tongue as well as the power of the material object on which a narrative is represented. 
Philomela's ****, exile, and mutilation is analogous to Ovid's exile. Tereus attempts to remove every piece of power that she has, but nevertheless she persisted telling her story by any means available to her (weaving). So too Ovid uses his poetry in an attempt to mitigate his punishment. 
We shall see that Martial makes reference to Ovid's exile and uses key themes of mutilation in Book 3 of his poetry to make a joke on censorship, Romaness, and obscenity (chapter 3).  
In the surviving examples of inscribed bullets from the glandes Perusinae, text-objectbody intersect among many examples of obscenely inscribed bullets.  Two examples of these bullets will suffice.

I seek the clitoris of Fulvia.

The glandes are relevant to this discussion because they are texts that are phallically aggressive (in a metaphorical sense) and physically threatening in a literal sense. Both of these texts present themselves as a penetrator with the first-person verb (pet<o>) and the obscene description of the body part being sexually engaged (landicam, "clitoris" and culum, "asshole"). These two bullets come from opposing sides of the siege; one figuratively attacks Fulvia, the wife of Mark Antony, and the other insults Octavian, represented as effeminate with a feminine form of his name.  The physicality of these object-texts is felt more than most texts that are contained in a roll or codex.  
Bodily interaction with the text as an object is also felt in Catullus, for example: si qui forte mearum ineptiarum / lectores eritis manusque vestras / non horrebitis admovere nobis, … ("if by chance you who will be readers of my trifles and will not shudder to put your hands on us, …" Catull. 14b).  This poem is considered fragmentary, but the nobis at the end indicates a conflating of text with author. When the lectores hold the book, they hold the author himself and interact with him. The poet-text-reader interaction becomes a sensual experience. The poet cautions against conflating himself with the text two poems later and threatens another type of bodily interaction in poem 16, demonstrating that while the poems are trifles, the poet is not one to be trifled with.

For it's fitting for a pious poet to be chaste himself,  but it's not at all necessary for his little verses;  which precisely have wit and charm,  if they are soft and immodest and  if they are able to excite that which itches,  
I'm not talking about boys,  but about those hairy men,  who can't move their inflexible loins.  
You think that I'm a bad man because  you read about my many thousands of kisses?

The mistake of Aurelius and Furius is to equate the poet with his text too much: a phenomenon that later poets (including Martial) will generally encourage—though not in a monolithic way— because the description of later epigram changes.  In this poem, the poet becomes aggressively 
  
masculine whereas he allows for his text to be soft and pleasant. This description of the text conforms to the elegiac idea that the text stands in for the beloved (puella, puer), who ought to be tender, an idea that does not find a home in the later epigrammatists, namely Martial, the Carmina Priapea, and Ausonius. The text as a body becomes solidly masculinized after Catullus, with the emergence of the CP and Martial's epigrams. Martial's epigrams will be pleasing as well, but in the way that a husband's mentula ("dick") pleases his wife (1.35): a soft dick will not cut it. Catullus, conversely, describes his poems as "soft" (mollis) and contrasts this with his own life, which he calls modest and pious (nam castum esse decet pium poetam / ipsum, 16.5–6). In epigrammatic poetry, the text as a body loses its softness, and it becomes a stand-in for the poet or subject of the text: a phallically penetrative man. Martial himself does not use the language of mollitia ("softness") to describe his text.  The text is still playful (lasciva, Mart. 1.4.8).  The text representing a phallic man can be gleaned from Catullus' poetry when it represents the male body or the text as a defender of the poet or as a surrogate of the poet threatening the suitors of his beloved. In poem 37, the relationship between pictorial representation of the body and the text as a body coalesce.  
Salax taberna vosque contubernales,  a pilleatis nona fratribus pila,  solis putatis esse mentulas vobis,   solis licere, quidquid est puellarum,

ducentos irrumare sessores? 37.7–8). The poet's boast of being able to penetrate orally 200 people sequentially (una, 37.8) makes his phallic aggression hyperbolic. Perhaps he means for his drawings of dicks or writings about dicks to assist him in the next lines (namque totius vobis / frontem tabernae sopionibus scribam, 37.9–10). With the phrase "scribble dicks all over the tavern," by using a term that also appears in graffiti, the poet could be referring to insulting poetry that calls out his rivals by name using graphic illustrations, words, or perhaps a

"So what do you plan to do now? Are you really staying in Paris for a month? And then renting out your apartment? Where are you going to stay when you return to Beijing then?"
Wu Mei Li and Zhao Yue stayed at another hotel after the revelation of Chen Zhang and Lu Yi Jie's betrayal and the questions asked were countless.
Mei Li, who was sitting on her designated bed, sighed, "Calm Down." 
Mei Li patted the place beside her. Yue sat down before leaning her head towards Mei Li's shoulders. 
"I can't calm down unless you answer all my questions!" Yue stomped her feet with a pout and then cutely glancing upward at Mei Li's. 
Mei Li touched the long beach curls on Yue's hair with a smile, "I need to go to Italy next week for the exhibit of my second collection. Aside from that, Paris is a wonderful country to draw inspiration from."
"You want to paint now, right?"
Seeing the questioning gaze Mei Li sent on Yue's direction, the younger girl laughed at the beauty, "You always paint your emotions out. The theme for the First exhibit was 'A Friendship to Last' when we became best friends for three years then the second one was 'Hoping for Tomorrow' when you were in a relationship, and now the theme 'Breaking Hearts' clearly shows you already knew about Chen Zhong's affairs."
Mei Li's smile was sad, and Yue could not help but hug her close. Yue had known Mei Li for ten years, and this was the first that she saw her orphan friend broken hearted. Mei Li"s face was calm and at ease but Yue knew that inside she was neither but instead emotions warred. Her carefully plastered masked of calmness was the wall even Yue could not break even knowing each other for a decade. 
"Don't worry, you still have my parents and me," Yue mumbled softly. "We should call them soon too. They were really worried when I had our private plane arranged after I got a text from my brother."
And suddenly Yue's phone vibrated in a cue. 
Opening the message app, Yue's eyes widen. She showed her phone to Mei Li with glee and read the message aloud.

Mei Li giggled again momentarily forgetting the hurt in her heart. How wonderful it was to have a true friend. 
"Calm Down," Mei Li's gentle voice did not calm the storm raging in Yue's eyes. 
Mei Li sighed while looking directly into Yue's eyes, " Firstly, In the elevator, I told him that I already knew what Chen Zhong was doing and would like him to be lenient with whatever he wants to do with him because I might have led him to do it." 
"Why did you mention those names then?"
"I made a reference about the betrayal in the book Count of Monte Christo to his situation while I referred to the Biblical story of Abraham with Sarah and Hagar.."
"I still don't get it."
"You would if you read." Mei Li softly poked Yue's side playfully.
"… but that's boring. And the poems?"
"The Poems is merely him confirming my plea to be lenient… The first poem says that the author is as tired as the listener. The second is a sonnet by William Shakespeare saying that what we had with the cheating couple was not mutual love."
Yue blinked continuously in confusion, "Both of you are too weird. Why don't you communicate like ordinary mortals?"
Mei Li merely smiled while still looking at the first text that CEO Yang had sent. The fact that the first poem wrote the poem as if the poet was saying it to his lover was left unsaid. The first poem had a lot of meaning, some vivid while some vague. Mei Li could not bear to tell Yue, who had already once tried to scheme them together. 
"… what about the apartment? Didn't you already bought that condo unit?" Yue continued to ask her questions
"…Yeah, but I'll still be renting it out. The memories are still fresh, so I'm just going to stay at my Studio near East Park in downtown."
Yue poked Mei Li and with a pout that was asking Mei Li to pamper her, "You can always stay with me! Next month will be my 26th Birthday, so you have to help me prepare!" 
"I don't know…" 
"…Please, please, please! You don't even have to give me a gift!" Yue began to get on her knees with both her hands clasp into Mei Li's.
"I don't want to bother.." Mei Li hesitantly answered. She had stayed at Zhao Mansion before, most of those nights spent gossiping with Yue in her pink and lavish room.
"Come on! Mom and Dad love you! Besides the Mansion is big enough that even you staying for a year, would not bother them." Yue insisted. Yue's insistence always made Mei Li uncomfortable, and the more Yue begs for it, the more Mei Li would cave.
"…Just for your birthday?" Mei Li asked, unsure.
"Just for my birth month!" 
Mei Li stared at Yue's large doe eyes that were starting to water. Mei Li sighed again. Mei Li knew that Yue was doing it on purpose, but she always fell for it.
"Two days?" Mei Li started negotiating.
Yue had an affronted look, "No, four weeks!"
"If I stay for that long, you might grow bored with my face. Whatever shall I do if you leave me all to my lonely self?" the joke was snidely said by Mei Li.
Yue refuses to give up! 
"There will be a banquet on the 30th for my birthday and Mom had told me to organize it myself. She used to organize it for me, so I have no idea what to do first. Help me?"
Yue widen her eyes then started to think of scary thoughts so it would water. She needs tears, dammit. 
"…and I have to organize a small dinner with the family on the 28th since it's a family tradition; always to celebrate our birthday dinner with family… You know how much I hate fancy restaurants that serve small servings! I want a barbecue with meat! Lots and lots of meat…" Yue continued to act pitiful.
Yue and Mei Li stared at each other for a while. As if the person who will look away will be the loser of this argument. 
Mei Li pointed out in a murmur,"…You don't even know how to shop for yourself…"
"…and that's why you have to stay with me and help me organize, please." 
Cue the tears that gathered in Yue's eyes. 
Mei Li put her hands in the air as surrender and said, "Fine! But I plan to go back to the capital on the 7th of November, so I'll stay at the Mansion starting on the 8th until your banquet on the 30th."
Yue started her victory dance which made Mei Li smile once again. 
"YES! Wait let me text my parents!"
"Tell your Mom that I'm available to visit the exhibit together on November 4. I think that's Sunday…" murmured Mei Li as she gathered her clothes into her arms. 
Yue merely nodded.

Willing to be the collar on your clothes to feel your fragrance, willing to be the belt on your coat to hug your waist, willing to be the oil on your hair to moisten your black hair…
While the man's expression was still blank, another text came in— [9th master, 9th master~ Why haven't you replied? Did you like my poem?~ I want compliments, rewards and kisses~]
The servants who had been trembling in the corner gazed at each other in confusion. They didn't understand why their master who was raging mad like a lion and destroying everything a moment before had become so quiet in the next second. He was also staring at his phone with fluctuating emotions as if he was trying to decipher something.
Xu Yi, also uncertain about Si Yehan's attitude, opened his mouth slowly and carefully, "9th master, you…"
Si Yehan: "Be quiet."
Xu Yi shut his mouth instantly.
Si Yehan continued staring at his phone with a serious face while his slender fingers tapped the screen.
The man furrowed his brows slightly, since the screen was no longer fully functional due to the cracks.
Xu Yi was beyond curious. Unable to hold himself back, he stole a glance.
Then, his eyes nearly went blind…
Ye Wanwan had sent another message that was sweet enough to make a man blind and his master was typing out his reply: [Good].
At the end of his reply, he even added an earnest "kissing" emoticon.
Xu Yi stared speechlessly at that kiss, "…"
He was completely unable to imagine his master sending that emoticon…
As he watched on in horror, he heard the man's lazy voice, "Tell them to come back."
His tone was not only lazy but full of contentment. He kept re-reading the words of the poem over and over, obviously in a good mood.
"Er… Yes!" Xu Yi quickly responded and called his men on their way to capture Ye Wanwan to come back.
A crazy storm was simply eradicated like that!?


“How perverted is Si Ye Han's taste? He still wants me like this?” Waking up, she looked at her reflection in the mirror: explosive wig, tattoos, and demon-like makeup. Any normal person’s eyes would burn if they looked at her for more than a second.

Its wings fluttered few times before peacefully settled down.
But when I want to catch it, it escaped, circling around my head before leaving.
I wonder if you can come to my dream again as a butterfly, Feng Xiaojun.

Xiaojun blushed when he read the poem, it was so cheesy, but it did make his heart flutter. He tried hard to hold his blooming smile, especially when Shi Qiang came inside his room to deliver his morning coffee,  
"Sir, if you want to smile, just smile," Shi Qiang said nonchalantly while putting the coffee on the table, "I can see you are trying so hard to look cool."
"S—Secretary Shi, who deliver this flower and notes on my desk today?" Xiaojun asked.  
"I did. I was on my way to the office, then suddenly, I saw two burly men standing in front of the office and remembered my face. They handed the flower and the notes to me, saying that their boss wants to deliver this to his moon rabbit, and they left," Shi Qiang explained, and then she sighed, "Seriously, am I missing something here? How did you turn Long Shan, the Master of Long Family, into a gay? I mean, I haven't seen him, but he has a daughter, right?"
"Yes…"
"I mean, maybe he is bisexual, but still…" Shi Qiang inspected her boss' handsome face and commented, "Well, boss, you are indeed very handsome. I just… don't expect that a mafia boss would like another gong-like man. I thought, he would at least like gentle beauties…"
Xiaojun shrugged, "Well… I don't know either…"
"So, do you want to marry him or what?"
"WHAT?!" Xiaojun's eyes almost popped out of its socket, "Secretary Shi, do you know how impossible that is?!"  
"Impossible? I mean, I'm sure everything will be alright," Shi Qiang shrugged, "Besides, sir, you are not planning to marry any woman, right?"  
"No…"  
"Then, in the future, you will settle down with a man. I'm just saying that you should not close the door to opportunity in front of you," Shi Qiang saw how her boss seemed to be in deep thinking, and she felt proud of herself.  
Because it would be a lifetime achievement for a fujoshi like her, to match two guys and see them get married, 'I will make sure that Boss Feng marries the man he loves! This is the fujoshi oath!'
"Well, I'm not yet in love with anyone right now, so let's just set that aside," Xiaojun said.  
"Yes, sir. After all, love cannot be forced. You might fall in love with Long Shan or maybe someone else in the future," Shi Qiang said.  
Xiaojun nodded. He wanted to ask about today's schedule before he got a text message.
Ding!
Xiaojun unlocked his phone and saw a text message under the name 'Zhu'er.'
Xiaojun smiled and read the message.
*Zhu'er - 08.20 a.m
Good morning, XiaoXiao. I am currently working on a movie set. It's hectic these days, I have to carry the heavy camera everywhere when filming!  
I hope you are doing well with your office job! Don't get scolded by your boss!*
Xiaojun giggled when he got the text message, Zhu'er said that he was just a cameraman on the movie set, and it was a hard job. Somehow, Xiaojun felt guilty that he lied to Zhu'er because he said that he was just a regular office worker instead of the CEO of Feng Group, Feng Xiaojun.
But it could not be helped, right? Zhu'er would definitely turn his back when he knew that he faced Feng Xiaojun instead of XiaoXiao, his biggest fan.  
Xiaojun texted back and then put his phone down, "Secretary Shi, what is today schedule?" he asked.
"We have a meeting with Jiang Group again, sir. But this is rather a private meeting, Jiang Jinxing said that he will personally come to meet you, and he said that he would not be late this time."
Like a thunder that struck him in the morning, Xiaojun froze on the spot, "J—J—J—Jinxing?!"
"Yes, sir. He said that he cannot contact you at all no matter how much he tried, so Jiang Jinxing asked me to set out a schedule for you two," Shi Qiang replied.
"…"
Xiaojun remembered how he heartbrokenly blocked Jinxing's phone number, also blocked him of all social media account and online messaging because he was too embarrassed and heartbroken at the same time.
And now, he must see him again? Xiaojun gulped.
"S—Secretary Shi, do you think I will die painlessly if I drink a rat poison before the meeting?"

"Cut! That's great acting, as expected from our film emperor, Sun Zhu!" Sun Zhu put down his prop sword and walked to his seat. He was currently filming a XianXia or eastern fantasy novel. That scene was when he, as the protagonist, got blackened.
He sat in his seat and opened his phone. There was a text from his XiaoXiao.
*XiaoXiao – 08.22
Uwaaa! Zhu'er fighting! >///w//< XiaoXiao will support you and your hard work! Don't forget a hot patch after a tiring day. It will help to relieve your muscle ache! I am currently working, my boss is so scary!*
Sun Zhu chuckled when he read the text message. XiaoXiao said that he was just a regular office worker. That must have been hard.  
Honestly, Sun Zhu felt guilty for lying about his real job, but XiaoXiao might back off if he knew that Zhu'er was actually Sun Zhu, the film emperor. Besides, if XiaoXiao knew how crazy his fans could be, it would be a mess.
'Well, in two days, I will meet my cute XiaoXiao, hehe~.'

9 HOURS EARLIER
The bell went signifying the end of lunch. Jack lifted his tray and dumped the remaining food in the trash, and left his tray in the pile of used trays. He came back to the table as the remaining three stood up to go for their next class. Vivian trailed behind the three boys as they walked towards their next period, History. Her phone pinged signifying a message. She unlocked her phone and opened the message, Jack's dad. "Baby girl, are you okay?", Vivian smiled as she continued walking till she hit a body. She looked up and noticed that the boys were staring at her, "why are you smiling?" Max asked, she touched her face to confirm if she was smiling, indeed she was. Jack's dad had warmed his way into her heart like the saying goes; the older the berry the sweeter the juice. Vivian reminded herself of the popular phrase in order to feel at ease with herself for loving a man her father's age. "Uhm no reason, I'll just head to the restroom to take care of 'business'" Vivian made air quotes around business to signify the kind. The three boys grimaced and scrunched their noses. She quickly headed for the restroom, she looked at her phone again. She stared at the screen, she didn't know if he had delayed to reply the message on purpose or he was truly busy, but whatever he did, it saved her the inconvenience of confessing to Jack in front of her friends. She entered the furthest stall from the door, locked it twice and crouched down to the floor. Her phone rang before she could text back. "Hello?" Vivian whispered
"Baby girl, your daddy has missed you" Jack's father replied in a husky tone. His voice sent a feeling of warmth down her body.
"I've missed you too..." there was silence over the phone like he was waiting for her to speak
"Too what?" She could imagine the smirk on his face over the phone.
"Daddy" Vivian flushed. He liked it when she called him that.
"The text I received was from Jack?" 
"Yes, he's having a sleepover at Max's"
"Did you delete the conversations like I told you to?"
"Yes"
"So he doesn't suspect anything?"
"No daddy"
"Good girl". This praise made her smile, she liked it when she made him happy.
They talked a little before she ended the call. She looked at the time, she was so late for history.
  2hours later

"And they found Emily's body today?"
"Where are you going with this Jack?" Chris was giving Jack a Stern look. Vivian was in her world, texting someone. She smiled as she replied the texts. 
"Are you coming over now or later?"
She texted back "I don't know if Jack is heading over to Max's place or going home first, I'll find out".
"Be careful, we don't want him to suspect anything" he replied almost immediately. 
"Trust me zaddy" she sent a winking emoji. She was thinking of ways of how to ask Jack without looking suspicious when Max saved her the stress by asking Jack, "Are you coming to the house or you'll grab a few things from your house?".
  7hours later
"Whatever" Jack rolled his eyes with a smile plastered on his lips, "I'll be back, set up the game for the next round". Jack closed the door, leaving Max to the comfort of his room. Max stood from the seat positioned close to the gaming system, he moved towards the bed where Jack had left his chips. He began to munch on the chips, picked his phone from the side table where it was left to charge. He scrolled through his Instagram page; liking pictures and commenting where necessary. A minute later a strange number texted him a poem. He read it in his head, it didn't make sense. He texted back, no reply. He dialled the number, it was non existent. His confusion level was peeking, he started to read the poem again as he whispered it unintentionally;
 "Roses are red
Violets are lifted up high
Two are dead
The beginning of what's lifted up high? It's her turn to die".
His mind's gears turned at a fast rate. "What's lifted up high?" He asked himself, he re-read the poem, "violets are lifted up high" he answered himself. "The beginning?" His heart was pounding, he was getting a weird feeling that this wasn't ordinary. He called the number again as he paced back and forth, non existent. He looked down at the poem again, sweat trickled down his spine. "The beginning of what's lifted up high?", he looked at the quatrain over and over again. "The beginning of violets is... V?" His eyes widened V, Vivian. He quickly dialed her number, it was switched off. He began to wear his shoes, prepared to run over to her house when he remembered Jack was coming back. He dialled Jack's number.
 2 minutes earlier
"Get him whatever he likes?" Jack tested a theory. "Oh thanks" Vivian turned and walked in the opposite direction with speed in her feet. Vivian walked down the moon lit path, hiding her affair with Jack's dad was getting unbearable and impossible. She touched her face, she was still cold from the confrontation, she would have been caught in the most compromising position which she would never have been able to lie her way out of. She walked passed a darkened alley, glanced and walked on. She stopped, had she seen what she thought she saw? Was the question that flashed through her mind. She slowly walked back and peeped. She hadn't been imagining it. The orange umbrella was bright and hard to miss. There was no rain, so why will a person stand in a dark alley holding an umbrella?.
"Hello?" Vivian called out , "are you okay?" She stayed fixed on her spot not wanting to walk in, there was a slight hesitation and fear in her voice. The figure looked up, Vivian's breath hitched in her throat. His eyes glowed, it wasn't normal, this was IT. She sprinting without wasting time. It ran after her. Vivian ran ignoring the hurt in her legs, she slowed down as she saw a brick wall in front of her, a dead end. "No no no no" she quickly turned to run back into another alley feet's away from the dead end. She saw IT coming. It slowed down and stood feet's away from her, at the entrance of the escape alley, blocking Vivian's movement. "Please, whatever you are please don't hurt me" Vivian felt immense fear, her eyes pricked with tears as it rolled down her face. It walked closer, Vivian began to scream and plead. The cold temperature of the atmosphere felt hot around her, her heartbeat could lead a parade. She closed her eyes and bowed her head to the floor covering her head, she shook in fear. She heard rapid footsteps like someone was running, she lacked the courage to look up. There was a grunt before the sounds stopped. She stayed still, shaking in fear, afraid that she would look up into the eyes of the predator before it took her. "Vivian?" She heard a familiar voice call her, she slowly looked , she felt relief wash over her. She glanced around, the thing was gone. She quickly rushed and embraced her friend in a warm hug. "You saved me, Max". Vivian's heart was still pounding fast but she felt safe.
 2 minutes earlier
"Jack, can you try and reach Vivian? I'm on my way to her house right now"
"Why? She just left here"
"What? How but I just received a text"
"A text from who? What does it say?"
"From it, She's next".
Jack quickly texted the direction Vivian had walked in. He rushed out of his house not bothering about his father . He ran as fast as his legs could carry him. He slowed down as he spotted Vivian speaking to someone in an alley. She started running, seconds later he saw a figure pursue her. He turned right not following them in order to cut off the figure at an alley infront. He ran disregarding his burning limps and his pounding heart. He came to a slow halt as he saw the figure standing a few feet from Vivian slowly walking towards her, she had her head bowed to the floor in fear. He quickly ran to tackle the figure, his footsteps echoed in the empty alley, the figure turned towards him. He leaped to tackle the figure, before he could reach it, it held him. He grunted at the discomfort of it's sharp nails digging into his neck, drawing blood. He looked into the glowing eyes of the figure trying hard not to show the fear he felt, he was seconds away from wetting his pants. It varnished, and so did Jack. Few seconds later, Max ran into the alley only to see Vivian shaking in fear with her head bowed.

"May his blood rest upon us and our children". A night of drunken mistakes and bad decisions leads to a set of mysterious occurrences twenty years later, leaving the descendants; Max and Chris to solve the humongous puzzle with discrepancies in the puzzle pieces. With their missing friends as enough motivation, will they be able to uncover the mystery behind the sinister events or will their friends varnish into Oblivion.
