A story of an average high schooler faces basic high school struggles like boys and bullies. But what will happen once magic is involved?

It seemed like the patriarch lost his interest in Jason, which almost caused him to shout out in joy if he was not surveilled by a few powerhouses around him.
As such, he had to put on a charade with him looking to the ground.
He hated to behave like this, to the core, but he had to endure it for now until he would become strong enough to defend himself!
Old Drake was discussing things with the patriarch, calling Jason a prodigy, while the patriarch retorted with him barely being at the 4th Adept rank, which was not even remotely considered as prodigious for a 14 years old youth, even if he was from Astrix.
In comparison, he even named Seron, who was crippled, until six months ago.  
Smiling inwardly, Jason couldn't help but voice out in his mind 'I also started with my journey six months ago and I'm stronger than Seron...What crap is he talking about, without having gathered any information?'
However, instead of being sad about his negligence, Jason was extremely happy.
Seron and Max stood suddenly next to him, as they inquired about his well-being, while Seron also asked about the Fler's.
Telling them that everything was fine, Seron sighed in relief, while Max just stood silently next to the two of them, not saying anything at all.
He was visibly uncomfortable, and Jason noticed him eyeing the patriarch once in a while.
Seron also noticed it, as he said  
"Are you still uncomfortable around your father? Well, to be honest, that's nothing surprising."
After the two overcame the arrival of the foreign race envoys, Seron and Max became much closer as both of them were happy to have survived a calamity.
Over the last three days, they talked about all kinds of things, and Max cleared some misunderstandings about their childhood and that he was told by his family to treat him badly, in order to humiliate the Gier family.
Without knowing what exactly anything like that meant, when they were young, Max just followed the given order, without thinking about what he did.
Seron felt still uncomfortable about his childhood, but he was not someone who liked to hold grudges and after surviving the last week, he was just glad to have someone to talk to.
While one topic was the foreign races, the main subject was Jason, both were curious what exactly his eyes were and how strong he was, with his two affinities, he already showcased.
Seron was not much more knowledgeable than Max about Jason, so the two of them just concluded a few facts.
As Seron remembering that Jason had not only Artemis, an unknown beast with a fire affinity as his soulbond, but also a small scorpion, he couldn't help but question Jason's soul world, whether it was its size or how many soul energy units he had.
To the two youths, Jason was a mystery, but Seron liked him a lot, while Max didn't seem to hate him, because he treated him like a common human, without having a bias or something due to his status.
It felt good to be treated like a normal youth, even if he behaved arrogantly, Jason retorted, instead of backing down, which was the common reaction he received.
They continued to talk for some time, until the patriarch turned back to them, coldly demanding
"Show me your soul-awakening star rating!"
Jason didn't know what Old Drake said to the Drake family patriarch, but he seemed to be slightly angered with his impatience shown all over his face.
Not minding what exactly was going on, he opened his quantum bracelet and searched for the official certificate he got sent from the Beast Pagoda.

It was clearly written, that his soul-awakening was below average from the basic factors that were assessed, also called Soul world size and the soul energy units upon his soul-awakening.
Looking at his soul-awakening rating, the patriarch frowned, as he turned around, almost growling.
"Old man!! Even though you lived longer than I did, with a high contribution to our family, who the hell do you want to fool, by telling me that this useless trash is a prodigy?!  
Even if his battle awareness, comprehension ability, and even mana aptitude were superior, with a two-star soul-awakening rating, he will only be able to fight against foreign races at a lower rank, due to their high innate physique and larger mana core size?!"
Old Drake was equally astonished because he heard about Jason's soul-awakening for the first time, and his attempt to lure Jason over to their own family, shattered immediately, as he frowned deeply.
'Why did Shane and Dalia accept Jason as their disciple, with such a soul-awakening?!?'  
Frowning, when he was called useless trash, Jason would have loved to jump up and beat the Drake family patriarch into a pulp, but that was obviously not possible.
Furthermore, he wanted to continue to live, which caused him to grit his teeth and endure everything as of now.
However, while everyone else was displeased and disappointed with Jason's soul-awakening rating, Till, who already knew about it, was almost unable to suppress his smile, while Seron and Max looked at Jason in astonishment.
Looking at them he couldn't help but smile apologetic, because he roughly knew what caused them to look at him like this.
"My current soulbonds, are almost my limit"
It was a lie, but because Seron already saw him with Scorpio and Artemis, while there was still an unknown fire beast, Jason had no other choice.
In the end, Seron was naive and innocent, while Max was a stranger to him, who only knew about his two mid-evolved affinities.
Having two soulbonds at the age of 14 was already unique and rarely seen but three? That's a whole different league.
Jason thought that both Seron and Max might think with his lie, that his soulbonds had vast potential, leading him in contracting them, but after saying that he almost met his limits, his soul world's potential would be used up, once all of them reached their own racial and potential limits.
Normally one would be rather careful with deciding their soulbonds, which caused both Seron and Max to "misunderstand" Jason's prior behavior as negligent thanks to a large soul world.
Hearing his lie, they felt suspicious, but the soul-awakening ranking wouldn't be wrong, because it was even acknowledged by the Beast Pagoda, which was a serious organization that was acknowledged by all powerhouses.
Jason could also demand a re-assessing, but there was no need for him to do so because it wouldn't benefit him in any way.
Rather than that, it would most likely cause devastating damage to him, if the Drake family patriarch were to find out about his soul world's capabilities.
Old Drake's expression soured, after figuring out his soul-awakening star rating and Jason felt weird about the old man who seemed to be desperately trying to force him over to their side, as Jael Drake turned towards the two still standing sovereigns announcing.
"This is such a waste of time...we'll depart now!"
Turning to Max, he casually said
"Either stay or come with us."
Sighing, Max pondered for a moment, when he asked Seron
"You're only here for your second soulbond, right? Message me after you contracted it. I'll fight you then!"  
Smiling lightly, he followed his father and the two sovereigns behind, after saying goodbye to Old Drake.
Till meanwhile, was completely ignored, and he wondered what happened, that the Drake family patriarch didn't even bother to ask Jason about what happened within the four-star rift.
'Suspicious!'
It was definitely weird, but even more so was Old Drake's desperate behavior, trying to lure Jason over to their side, even if it meant to force him into a soul contract, once he attracted the patriarch's attention.
Jason was even more displeased about Old Drake's behavior and he completely ignored his whole existence, as he turned to Till, asking  
"I'm probably done here? Why did they even bother to ask me to come over, if I'm only going to be insulted, without asking anything about the four-star rift?!"
Sighing deeply, Till just said
"I think you're done...and to be honest, I have no idea what happened right now. If that helps you in any way..."
Jason didn't even bother asking Till if he could bring him back, as he walked towards the elevator, after briefly saying goodbye to Seron.
Calling a shuttle, his mind was filled with a deep sensation of betrayal and anger towards Old Drake, who would have most likely sold him out, immediately after Shane and Dalia fled.
The only positive aspect was, that Shane forced a soul contract on Old Drake, preventing him from telling the patriarch anything about Shane at all, which included Dalia and him being their disciple.
Sighing deeply, a sudden thought shocked him greatly
'Can I even trust Old Drake with sending me somewhere else as an exchange student... What if he tells other families about Shane and Dalia's whereabouts, even if he were to die..?!


Losing his parent early on, he had to survive in a world he couldn't even see...

Su Yan waited with bated breath for the result the Lovely Writing System would compute.

Su Yan's eyes widened. 0%? How could that be?! That was … Well, it wasn't like he had never gotten 0% before but it was really an awful score. So, his system wasn't gay?
Su Yan pursed his lips. That was actually good news. But then … Why was his score with Nie Chang so high? Were they really just very compatible? That couldn't be! They were both men!
Or maybe the system added some points because he was part of the possible pairing? Like, the one who got a system in novels was always the protagonist who had his protagonist halo. So, maybe all pairings including him would have a high rating?
Su Yan tried to justify his score this way. Yes, that must be it! Mn … He should do one final test.
He thought of himself and then pondered which man he knew that he thought should get a high score but had gotten a low score. If that guy got a high score with him, then the reason was definitely that he was the owner of the Lovely Writing System.
The one who came to mind was Li Ming out of all people. Before that thing with the forced kiss had happened he had thought that Li Ming was pretty decent. He could very well be the second male lead of a novel. When he thought about it a little deeper he might even have a chance of being the first male lead if it was a story about childhood sweethearts or something like that. He never would have thought that it might turn out this way.

Whoa! Su Yan stared in disbelief at the rating. What was happening here? This was the third highest score the system had computed! And once again it was between two men! He had hoped this wouldn't happen. Even if it might be because he was the one who owned the system, it wasn't nice to always be paired up with other men.
Su Yan lowered his phone and pondered.
That boy who had dressed up as a girl at least looked girly. In a novel, that middle-aged man might fall in love with him, then find out that he was, in fact, a boy, then go through some intense struggling before finally deciding that gender didn't matter for him after he was already so much in love. It would be a modern plot with a bit of drama and a lot of sweet moments. At the end of the book, people probably wouldn't know what to think anymore. Was it alright for two men to be together? Who knew? It would certainly look like that after reading that novel!
Between himself and Nie Chang, the rating could be explained because they were best friends. If they weren't compatible with each other, then they certainly wouldn't be this close for all these years, would they? The system had just mistakenly translated that kind of compatibility into one needed in relationships.
But Li Ming and he … That was entirely impossible. So, it could only be his protagonist halo that produced this result. Yes, it had to be this way.
Su Yan nodded in satisfaction. He had finally figured it out!
Actually, he knew that these thoughts were pure nonsense. If it was as easy as that, how could all the other low scores be interpreted? But he didn't want to face this gay system of his for now. He'd just pretend for a while longer that he didn't understand.
Since nobody was around he couldn't do anything regarding this 'special task' or whatever. He should have a look at the main task instead.
Su Yan opened his notebook and opened that novel again. The basic storyline was easily summarized: The son of the Heavenly Emperor had to descend to the mortal world because he still hadn't faced the customary trial. There was another god who was tasked with writing this trial, like some sort of fate he would be facing as a mortal. Everything was good until there but unfortunately that Heavenly Crown Prince had a lover who was a dragon. Since the different races didn't know much about each other that dragon didn't understand what the trial was for and just felt bad for the Crown Prince. He followed him into the mortal world and thanks to him everything became a disaster.
Through the novel was slightly funny, with lots of absurd things happening, Su Yan could only wrinkle his nose at the plot. Wouldn't readers expect the Crown Prince and his lover to talk about the trial beforehand? How was this story even slightly believable?!
Su Yan didn't know what to make of it. He wasn't sure if he could have come up with such a plot or the characters and setting that were used but he felt like he definitely would have been able to write a better story!
Just look at the first volume! The Crown Prince-turned-mortal was a total shut-in who was way too dependent on his mother. He couldn't even handle when his father took him to the forest for some hours and instantly started crying! Granted, he was only a child at that point in the novel but wouldn't readers expect a more outstanding protagonist?
And that lover of his … Su Yan could only shake his head when thinking of it. Because the guy was jealous of the kids surrounding the Crown Prince he told him a bunch of lies and plotted against the girls. This was nuts! Why were people reading something like that?!
Su Yan really couldn't understand. He also didn't know how to fulfill the system's requirement of writing a 'romantic encounter' for this kind of story. Never mind that the two were men, one of them was a child for the complete first volume and only became fifteen years old some chapters into the second volume. It might be an age suitable for romance if one considered that the novel had a historical touch but the story only seemed to become stranger. How was this the cultivation story the author promised in the synopsis?
After reading for so many hours to make a good job at his first assignment from the system Su Yan had felt a bit cheated and not just because the main pairing consisted of two men.
No, he definitely wouldn't write about these two! The task hadn't detailed who should have the romantic encounter. He would just take a normal pair to write his scene!

When abilities were first introduced to the human race, people quickly learnt that some were far more powerful than others. 
The abilities themselves were also different from person to person. They were dependent on how many mutant cells could be activated within the body. 
With this came the introduction of the power level system. There were a total of 8 different power levels. 
These levels indicated how many mutant cells were in the body but not how strong the ability was. They could then be further divided into subcategories. 1.1 1.2 ... all the way to 1.9.
Although these levels were just a system designed by the military to put everyone in a specified category. 
There were two ways for people to obtain abilities. When the war started with the Dalki race, people started to share their powers with the outside world. They wrote down how they accomplished this power and put the information down in things called ability books.
After the first war had ended, the books were no longer distributed for free and started to go on sale to the public. The military decided to keep some of the more powerful abilities to themselves.
Generally, ability books from level 1 to 5 were sold to the public. In contrast, giant corporations and the military kept the higher-level ones to themselves.
The second way to obtain an ability was if you were an Original. Originals were the first people who had initially discovered the powers for themselves and decided to pass it down within their family.
Not writing it down and teaching it from person to person.
Not all ability users chose to share their abilities to the outside world and decided to keep it within their bloodline. Originals usually had the strongest of abilities that couldn't be measure using the power system. 
Because of these two reasons, Quinn had always been a level 1. 
He had no family members to support him. Leaving him no chance to buy an ability book and his family had no abilities themselves, so he wasn't an Original.
When Quinn had obtained the book, his first guess was that it was some time of an ability book. Now, after all these years, it seemed like he had obtained an ability. But he had never heard of an ability book like this before, and he didn't have a clue what power level it had mutated his cells to. 
Usually, on the front, there would be a technique that helped you master your ability up to a certain power level. But with the book was now gone.
Quinn lifted up his hand to look at the watch, which indicated his current power level was one. When he looked around, he noticed that everyone else's watches currently showed the same number.
Griff was standing in front of all the students and called names in groups of five.
These students would then be transported somewhere to take the test. Quinn was hopeful at first thinking that he might have been able to change his ability level for once. Still, his mind was quickly changed after receiving a notification.

He didn't even know how good 10 strength, 10 agility, and 10 stamina points were. There was nothing he could compare it to. 
But if his eyesight was anything to go by, then it would mean it was at least the top condition of a normal human being. Right now though, Quinn felt incredibly weak and sluggish.
His body felt extremely hot, and he was sweating buckets. Quinn thought it was a good thing he drank a load of water beforehand. Otherwise, he would have been extremely dehydrated.
"Hey, are you okay?", a stranger standing next to Quinn said.
The stranger had slick blonde hair and hazel green eyes with a chiselled face and sharp jawline. He also stood 6 foot 2 inches tall while Quinn was 5, 11. This type of person Quinn would usually avoid at his last shool as everyone would always pay attention to them, and boy did Quinn hate attention.
"If you want, I can call someone for help," the stranger said.
"It's okay, I'm just a little bit nervous about the testing," Quinn said as he tried to ignore his tired body and stand up straight.
The stranger looked Quinn up and down. Quinn was quite skinny for his age. He didn't have a lot of muscle on him, and right now, he looked incredibly weak. He thought Quinn looked like the type of boy who would have gotten bullied at school, being in a new place and not knowing anyone power levels, of course, he would be nervous.
If he was to get a level one rating again, the same thing would most likely happen here.
"Well, don't be. I'm quite strong you know. If anyone messes with you, you can come and ask me for Help," the stranger said, smiling.
Quinn didn't usually get on with the active, positive type of person, but found it hard to dislike the boy. 
When Quinn thought back about his time at school, he realized he actually didn't get on with anyone.
"The names Vorden," Vorden said as he placed his hand out.
Quinn looked at Vorden's hand. It was actually the first time in his life someone had treated him this way, but he thought that would quickly change. People always did once they found out his ability level. But for once, he just wanted to forget about all that.
"My name's Quinn," Quinn said as he shook Vorden's hand.

Once the system messages appeared, Quinn looked at them strangely. He then noticed that Vordan still hadn't let go of his hand. Then the system repeated the message once again.

Quinn then immediately let go of Vorden's hand. The system was clearly telling him that Vordan was trying to use his ability on him. Vorden himself even had a puzzled look on his face as he stood there still.
"You," Vorden said. "What is your ability?"
"I…." Quinn paused, thinking for while whether he should answer or not. In the end, he wanted to see Vorden's real reaction. "I don't have an ability."
Vorden no longer had a puzzled look on his face, as if the answer had satisfied his curiosity, but before he could say anything, Griff made an announcement.
"Will the students Quinn Talen, Vorden Blade, Peter Chuck, Layla Munrow, and Erin Heley please come to the front to take your test."

Sun sat down while Daniel prepared the test paper for him. 
"Do you have any questions?", he asked.
Sun shook his head and took the pen. 
After a quick scan, Sun found it quite easy. Since he already memorized all the basics in the books Minerva gave him during the lessons, he could even recall the book page where the theory was written down. The memory enhancement was only activated during his lessons or if he needed to memorized cultivation techniques. If Sun let it run for 24/7, the information he would receive from the enhancement would blow up his head.
At the same time, Daniel sat down on his chair and started to recalibrate the instruments for the Soul Magic rating.
The instruments were very fragile so he tended to do it with care. 
Sun recalled everything in his mind and wrote down the answers like a machine. Sun felt like a Search Machine at this moment. 
There was a test question, he 'searched' through the answers inside his brain and wrote it down.
Shortly, after 30 minutes, Sun finished his test and re-checked it already 5 times.
"I'm finished!", Sun said and looked to Daniel.
Meanwhile, Daniel, who was still recalibrating, was startled by the sudden sound and one of the precious instruments fell down and cracked.
"God, what do you mean you're done? The test was designed for 2 hours, how could you be 'done'?", he saw the cracked thing beside his feet and felt anger.
"Why can't I be done? Please come and check my answers, Sir!", Sun said in an innocent voice.
"Give it to me! If you don't get 100% right, I'll make you pay for the instrument!", he said in an angered voice.
He felt his time being wasted since the instrument he recalibrated was now broken and could not be used anymore.
Daniel took a red marker and was prepared for the bad scores this boy will get, but the longer he checked, the stranger his facial expression got.

His marker fell down and sounded metallic.
"How?! You got everything ri ..right ...", he was stuttering.
Now his look changed from anger to respectfulness. 
"This boy must be a genius! A genius! Aseid hasn't got a genius like him for over 1000 years!", Daniel Weiss thought and was astonished by the boy.
In fact, Sun did the test in 10 minutes, the 5 times checking took him 20 minutes. 
If Daniel had known this, he would have had a heart attack. 
"Wait here, I will report this to the head inspector and get the instruments ready for the rating!", Daniel said and rushed out the door.
A moment later, he came back with the rating instrument and a small girl.
"Head inspector, this is the genius I told you. He scored 100% right in less than 40 minutes.", Daniel said. 
Although he tried to conceal his excitement on his face, his voice disclosed himself.
"Hmpf, being a book worm doesn't mean he is great with his combat abilities!", the little girl snorted at Sun.
"Get the test ready Daniel!", she added and said down on Daniel's chair.
Daniel walked to the center of the room and placed the instrument down.
It was a spiritual orb that can sense one's magic power. The stronger the output is, the stronger it will glow. 
The rating was based on the intensity of the color. 
"Boy, go and place your hand on the orb!", the girl said in a bossy tone.
Sun obliged and walked toward the orb. Although he was annoyed by the little girl's behavior, he didn't want to offend her. In his mind, she was just another brat. He couldn't care less about her ranking.
Sun put his hand on the orb.
...
Suddenly, his Soul Power got activated by some unknown force. 
The dark aura surrounded him once again and black wings grew on his back.
 A glow of black power appeared inside the orb.

The orb cracked a bit and a female voice sounded inside the room.
"Power level: *Immeasurable*
Soul Origin: *can't be determined*
Stamina: SS+
Physical Power: SS+
Elemental Magic: SS+
Class type: Transformation
Class cultivation rank: Beginner 2"

"WHAT?", Daniel and the girl both looked with astonished faces.
The spirit orb was an advanced treasure and could even determine the power of Demon Lords in the Demon Realm without breaking, but the moment Sun touched it, it BROKE.
"Who are you?", the girl asked Sun. Her voice changed and sounded somehow cute.
"Me? I'm Sun Reed. A half Chinese half American human."
"Hahahaha", the girl started to laugh.
"Oh right. I got it .. hahaha
I'm Rea de Camille. You can call me Rea. I'm the head inspector of Aseid and Awakened Rank.", she said.
"Awakened?", Sun looked at the girl again and estimated her age between 10 and 13 years old.
Rea seemed to know what Sun was thinking.
"I look young, because of my Soul Origin Artemis.", she explained.
Sun was astonished, that her Soul Origin was one of the twelve Greek gods.
"May I ask for your age?", Sun was now curious.
"Ahem, didn't your mom teach you that it's rude to ask about the age of a lady?", she frowned slightly.
"This year, I will be 20", she said.
"Huh?", Sun thought. He expected something like 90 years, so he was a bit surprised.
Rea realized Sun's surprise and covered her smile on the face with her hands.
"You are indeed special. I'm going to get you into my school Sun.", she said and walked out of the room.

"Uhm, will I receive a letter of notice or something like that?", Sun turned to Daniel and asked.
Daniel, who was frozen by the sudden change of event now got back to reality and turned to Sun.
"Yeah, wait here for a moment. The head inspector will get you the papers"
"Don't worry about the broken instrument! Even though it's a treasure, the inspector council can provide thousands of those.", Daniel said.
"I need to attend other matters now. Good luck with your studies.", Daniel said and walked off.
"Thank you, Sir", Sun said and bowed lightly.
Sun was now alone inside the room. He sat down and started to cultivate.
Since this room was an exam room, it was mostly empty. He figured this was the best action at the moment. 
Half an hour later, Rea came through the door with a smile.
"Suuuun! I got you into Esperia Magic School. I'm a teacher at the school so it was an easy thing for me.
(Though, they would have taken you even without my recommendation.)"
"Esperia Magic School? It's the best magic school in the mortal world!", Sun was inwardly excited.
