This is my first Romance and I was inspired by frustration 😂
I have been reading quite a few romance books and this pattern was eating me up, the guys are always the alpha, the master, the billionaire, the boss so far I have never read a book that puts a woman in a very high position.
I had read amazing books with strong and badass women but never starting in a "higher" position, If you know a book like that please write the name out so I can read it too!
Honestly, I'm done reading a book with such amazing women being "equal" by being with him, I understand that when a man recognizes a woman as their equal the relationship skyrockets.
But in my first one, I want him to start like regulars women in novels😂, in other words, in need of her help to achieve something.
I appreciate your feedback to improve my newby writing skills.

She bought his latest mystery romance as soon as it hit the shelves, just as she had with all of his previous novels. Overboard was his best book yet, and Lily had been so absorbed in it that she didn’t even realize her lunch ended fifteen minutes ago. Brian was right—it was one hell of a steamy romance. “Oh, wow. I’m sorry. I bet Charlie’s having a fit.”
Brian just chuckled as he unwrapped his sandwich. “When is Charlie not having a fit?”
Lily laughed with him as she began to clean up her lunch mess. “True story.”
“Luckily, you’ll be getting away from his snippety behavior over the next few days, though. You looking forward to your weekend getaway?” He brushed his walnut-colored bangs out of his eyes as he settled back in his chair to enjoy his lunch. “It’s a book signing, right? For your daughter?”
Lily stuffed her plastic containers back into her lunch box. “Yeah, so it’ll be a working weekend without benefit of pay. I’m going as her assistant.” She walked over to the trash can and tossed her garbage away, still talking. “I actually volunteered this time.” Walking back over to the table, she pointed to the book she left beside her lunch box. “My favorite author is going to be there and I’m really looking forward to rubbing elbows with him.” Actually, she was hoping to rub more than just elbows. A lady could dream, right?
She watched as Brian picked up the paperback, flipping it over to the back, so he could scan the blurb. “What does he write?”
Standing by the breakroom table, she waited while he finished reading. If Charlie was already annoyed, a few more moments of tardiness wasn’t going to matter. The manager of Dollar Mania had two moods—happy and dick. “Romance mystery,” she said when Brian finished reading. “I won his first book in a giveaway at one of Cassie’s events. He wasn’t even there. He had to cancel at the last minute. After reading it, I was surprised that a man could write romance so well. Nicholas Sparks has competition now.” She took the book from Brian as he handed it to her. “Some of his sex scenes left me panting.”
Brian laughed as he twisted the top off his Coke bottle. “Hoping to help him out with some research while you’re there?”
She winked at him. “There’s always hope.” She grabbed her lunch box as she said, “See you back out on the floor.” He said have fun as she passed through the breakroom doorway and back out for another four hours of hell.
When she slipped back out onto the floor, after tucking her lunch box and the book she would rather be reading back in her locker, Charlie made a point of staring at his watch while tapping his foot. Lily just walked over and patted his paunch belly, offering him a smile. “I’ll skip my next break to make up the time.”
“Yes, you will,” he said, dropping his hands to his hips. “And don’t pat my stomach.”
“Well, I would have tousled your hair, but…” She made a point of staring at his bald head. She shrugged. “Well…you know.”
She turned and walked away before getting her boss any more frustrated. While it was true Charlie could be a real jerk at times, pushing his buttons was one of her hobbies. She needed to do something to keep from screaming while staring at the same merchandise day after day and putting up with asinine customers who expected quite a bit for their measly dollar. Her daughter, Cassie, was always telling her to quit and find another job, but it would be the same chaos, just a different store. Besides, she had Charlie broken in already. She didn’t want to train another boss.
The rest of the day was spent stocking shelves, picking trash up from the floor, and finding merchandise a customer left in the wrong spot after changing their mind about purchasing it four aisles over from where they picked it up. Lazy people. As she worked, the routine so down pat that it was now a mindless activity, her thoughts drifted to Brian’s question about her helping Jack Sutherland with the research for his books. Wouldn’t that be great if I get the chance? I wonder if he’s bringing someone with him. There were times she felt really silly obsessing over him as much as she did, but his stories really moved her. She felt as if she knew parts of his soul from the words he put in his books. There was no way a man could write the way he did about relationships and not understand the female mind—or how to make the female body squirm. While Jack Sutherland’s novels were mainly romance, the few sex scenes he wrote had left her reaching for her favorite egg-shaped toy from her nightstand. The fantasies she had envisioned while reading his books led to some of the best orgasms in her life, even including the minuscule sex life she suffered through with her ex-husband. Jack Sutherland knew how to make love to a woman and make her cry out. It was obvious with the way he wrote about it.

How did you get into writing BL?
Honestly, I can't remember at all how I got into BL in the first place, but I still vividly remember what made me want to write a BL story. The side story of svsss of airplane bro the author and the villain aka luo binghe's dad. The humour in that and airplane's character was just so hilarious that I was like, damn I gotta write something like this as well.

And the idea of making it BL would only fuel the comedy, cough pardon I mean wannabe bs comedy, so there were more opportunities to make it more trashy. Now, here we are, writing a bs story that's BL but also not and now working on the second book of the series...

Among your own stories, do you have a favorite? Why? Why not if you can't pick one?
Haha, I've only got one BL novel published, some fanfic and another novel that's a dark female-led revenge story, but I'm also writing on two new stories, so not sure if I can properly answer this question but well, out of all my stories it's definitely this BL one whose name I refuse to write because it's super cringy and I will forever regret naming it this. Please silently crucify me for my bad naming sense...

The reason why I like it is definitely the comedy, the lightheartedness and the characters. All my other stories (minus the fanfics pls heaven don't let me mention it anymore) are rather dark, sometimes gory, tragic, full of suffering etc you get the gist. So this one was very refreshing (altho it does have a small arc that's rather darker in tone) and I'm very surprised what an absolutely, unbelievably funny person I am capable of writing such a masterpiece that's the embodiment of humour (yes, that was sarcastic haha)

What do you like most about BL?
To be honest, I don't like romance at all however there's something about BL that just makes me want to root for the couple. Maybe because it's rather seen as something 'forbidden' (since most people still aren't accepting towards BL), I don't know if that makes sense but I'm someone who likes 'forbidden' things, cough, yes I'm revealing all my kinks here. No need to thank me for this unnecessary info.

But honestly, I think what I like most about BL is the way it's written, the way the relationships are developed and unfolded. The kinks, plot developments or relationships are portrayed a certain way that appeals to my taste. I think what I also like about BL is that it doesn't shy away from certain themes or plot use that can be seen as dark, immoral or 'bad'. Ah, I don't know how to explain it but now I seem like a total perverted weirdo or my guilty pleasures are rather....?

As a reader, what are your favorite BL novels?
Honestly, I could just ramble on and on about all of my favourite novels, away with all the other questions! No place for you here!

Definitely hands down one of my favourite novels, in general, are 'The Earth is Online' and now 'Card Room'. Both of them are just so good I can't describe them in words. Like the kind of good that drenches your whole body in honey and after you wash it away, voila smooth and supple skin (yeah, that didn't make sense). Both novels are, to be honest quite similar however card room is a bit more lighthearted and less focused on romance, there's very little of it in there, but they care more about the plot and that's what I like. I'm kinda into those survival games, horror and (post) apocalyptic stories and those two fit perfectly. The MCs and MLs (as well as the side characters) are great (such a power couple) and the overall rising stakes of the story makes you excited and wanting more.

Another BL novel I came to like, I just finished reading it, is 'Escape Infinite Chambers'. It falls into the darker genres as well but the plot is very good and I'm still broken from the ending or the story overall. I know there are some people who don't like it due to some problematic things in the beginning but I think after closing an eye about it, the rest of the story will leave you wanting more. I still won't forgive the author for the ending tho, it's a HE, but still, I'm completely shattered...

Let me squeeze another thing in, I really like Meatbun doesn't eat meat as an author. Her story 2ha, I did like but there was too much suffering and vicious knives for me to have it as my favourite, but what I absolutely adore about the story is the author's damn godly smut writing ability. I'm sorry, I know the smut in the chapters are rather non-consensual but it's 'forbidden' and is perfectly my taste. I tried reading her other novel but haven't gotten far so I don't know how the smut fares there but dammit, meatbun ruined me, I've read some other BL where the reviews say the smut is written great but honestly none of it can compare to meatbun's writing ability! I'm thirsty for the way she describes the steamy scenes ugh (if anyone knows amazingly written BL smut, do let me know~)

What is the scene or moment you are most proud in the entirety of your story (ies)? Some stylistic writer accomplishment or a plot twist or a specific character? Something that was super hard to write or something you just adore to death for no reason whatsoever? Why?
Will I be bragging if I say the entirety of the story is what I'm proud of?
Honestly, I always thought I wasn't a funny person, so it surprised me to see that people find it hilarious. Of course, there are also a lot of things I do regret and wish I would've written differently, but I adore this story a lot.

The thing I'm most proud of is when the villain is revealed and joins the harem, like hell, I got no idea how I managed to write that chapter and pulled of a plot twist like this. It still baffles me what my brain was thinking at that time. It just... I don't know, blows my mind for the entirety of the story because while proofreading and editing, I kept thinking 'did I really write this?' 'How the hell did I write this?' 'How in the world did I come up with this?'

Make a tiny character theater here where the MC and ML of your main (or most favorite) story meet with you, the Author, for the very first time. What would they tell you if they knew what you did to them throughout the book! ( ノ ¬ Д¬)ノ

PhD was an enigma. Even his gender was unknown, but they largely assumed him to be male, based on his style of writing. His story was always firm and logical, while the chemistry between his paired couples always wandered towards eternal friendship, rather than romance. Master PhD often exaggerated on brotherhood and the bonds between men. Reading his work was more like a gay romance than the story between friends.
This was the age of Yaoi[2]. He was not deliberately promoting Boy Love, but fujoshis[3] often gave his work praise. Master PhD was just so good at portraying how men strengthen each other with trust and encouragement. His stories were so great, so manly.
Readers assumed that only a man could write such a great novel. The author might even be a muscular gym junkie.
Two elements determined his success. One was the exclusivity of the platform he used. Yes, he was an Ancient High God author, but he had taken a risk when he left Qidian, a.k.a. China Literature Limited before that platform monopolized that sector. He had joined an equally solid competitor, just because they offered him far better pay than Qidian's.

4. The Prodigy: I Was Reborn And To Become A Saintess by _AngelGrace_(Fantasy Romance), Ongoing - A prodigy was reborn in a world of magic, into the body of a 'useless' Saintess - or so everyone thought. See how she overcomes the plots against her, makes herself powerful and collects men to her like bees to honey. Looks like reverse harem at the moment, but may be just one ML. There's magic, a bit of nation-building. Updates unstable but Author says will not drop.
5. TheUnion by CreamAndCookies (Fantasy), Completed -291 Chapters. It is fantasy medieval. Has romance, kingdom building and all the political intrigues.

Hi. Thanks for dropping by. Please bear in mind that I am a new author, and English is not my first language. I am writing because I find it enjoyable, and am only now finding the courage to actually pen it out for others to read.

This is a reincarnation story of a girl who had lived one life, and will experience another. Follow her along her journey of discovery: of herself, as she walks an entirely new path. Yet, at the same time, she seeks to find closure from her old life. 

World background: Current Earth, with names of countries being just Country J, Country SA etc. 

First, the MC is the typical OP character. Second, it's a slice of life story mixed with OPness of MC. If you don't like Gary Sue / OP characters, with a slow story pace, then this is not for you. 

There are elements of adventure/action, romance, some comedy and a little bit of mystery.  It is also a story about friendship and the bonds we make as we grow up.

Online literature was still in its infancy, the current system was far less mature and sound than it would be in a couple of years, and the available subject matter wasn't rich. Everything was still in it's growing stages, and there were few clear set genre distinctions, many of the genres of the future hadn't even been properly formed yet. 
In theory if he wanted to write a new novel, he could, after all, there were the many genres of later generations to pick from but in reality though Jiang Cheng had a lot to consider.
The first problem was the real issue. Although the era of the Internet had begun, various new phrases and expressions were just emerging, it wasn't as developed as it would be in a few years. 
The culture and framework for certain types of stories just weren't in place and it would take more than one novel to create them. For example system novels, slice of life, video game novels and the different forms of cultivation novels which would be formed in the future didn't really have a place in the current literature world.
They would be formed over time naturally as things developed, which was why he created Starting Point Literature to get a slice of the cake, but trying to think of a novel to support Starting Points launch he realised a lot of novels and ideas just wouldn't blend or be deemed acceptable by others.
Looking to [Stories About The Ming Dynasty] wasn't reliable because the language was simple and at grassroot level, in order to appeal to the general public. Plus the book was about history, which was a pretty universal genre. Novels which were rich in "popular expressions'' and jokes from the future wouldn't work as well. 
Then came the subject matter. Jiang Cheng was a very cautious person, so cautious that he made sure to become an expert in Ming history in order to write [Stories About The Ming Dynasty], he wasn't willing to write about topics he didn't understand.
Finally, there was the issue of writing standard. Jiang Cheng's writing was great, and he was currently being praised as a model for everyone, so those quick cash grab novels or poorly written novels were of the table.
In this way, he narrowed down the genres he could write down to; Martial Arts, Xianxia, Magical Realism, Romance and History.
Among them, in the history category he had already written [Stories About The Ming Dynasty] so he didn't want to write another history novel. At least not until the series was completely published.
Magical Realism, he just felt was too broad plus he didn't really like the genre. 
For the Romance category there was [Autumn's Concerto] which was coming out as a TV show next year so he decided to skip it as well.
Therefore, only Martial Arts and Xianxia were left before Jiang Cheng.
Jiang Cheng loved the two themes very much. Needless to say, martial arts, who didn't dream of learning martial arts and becoming the next Bruce Lee when they were younger? Plus martial arts culture was already an integral part of Chinese culture. As for Xianxia, ​​it was actually essentially an extension of martial arts. Mythical fantasy built on the basis of martial arts.

Martial arts novels weren't easy to write. Without profound planning, understanding of traditional Chinese culture, and a martial arts background, it was nigh impossible to write a good novel. A good martial arts novel often took several years to write, for example [The Legend of the Condor Heroes] was still constantly being revised by Jin Yong.
Then....should I choose Xianxia? Jiang Cheng questioned. 
In fact he already had a novel in mind, for Xianxia, the novel [Zhu Xian]. 
The novel [Zhu Xian] had a pivotal position in later generations of online literature. Once published in China, it soared to the Chinese, Hong Kong and Taiwanese bestsellers list. With it's imaginative and powerful narrative, it quickly became the pinnacle of Chinese Xianxia literature. It even became famous overseas after being translated.
Throughout the novel, love, affection, friendship and the battle between right and evil was brought together, the writing was beautiful and the story was vivid. With more than 30 million views online, it was hailed as a pioneering work in a new generation of domestic Xianxia novels comparable to the legendary [Story of Swordsman from Shushan Mountain], a masterpiece of Xianxia.
The plot of [Zhu Xian] had its ups and downs and the characters were distinct. It provided a unique take on a Eastern Xianxia world at the time, with grand and detailed world building.
