After that announcement, I had prepared for lunch and waited for the time I could get back to the game.

I have a lot of regrets but it won't help me change the past right? It's just a game, but I felt like I was really playing like my life depends on it. Kinda stupid but that's the first time I felt so alive again. Fighting monsters, playing with other players and even doing my best to win some events, of course, I messed things up, but I felt so happy. I remember before the accident, my life was dull and full of emptiness, going to school as my parents told me to do so, doing my best not to cause trouble and today, I just did. Thanks to the game, my life became so exciting and full of adventures.

If I can return back to the game, I will be a better player and of course a good fellow people of New Life Online.

Since regular stakes only put a vampire to sleep until it's pulled out, they created the exploding stakes. Once the stake enters the body, spikes extend from the sides and puncture the heart deep enough to be pulled out with the stake."

"What will they think of next?" said Henry, looking at his list.

"What spell?" asked Kara.

"Catherine is too smart to leave the necklace unguarded. She probably got a witch to put a protection spell around it," Michele said. "I have a spell that can break through such a barrier, but we need the ingredients first. I'm leaving soon to get them. You know, just in case"

"Well, you can't go by yourself," said Amy. 

"I'm going too," Hannah said. 

"You three be careful," Kara said, nodding. "I will meet up with you all again later."

Michele, Amy, and Hannah wasted no time in heading for the car, and half an hour later, they reached the shop. It was an unsuspecting, hole-in-the-wall book store owned by a very old family friend of Michele. They headed inside, but it was pitch black as if the shop hadn't even opened yet.

"Something is wrong," Michele said. "Turn on the lights."

Amy felt along the wall for the light switch and flicked it. The overhead lights illuminated the room, revealing the body of Michele's friend lying on the floor in a pool of her own blood.

"Took you forever. I was hoping it'd be Kara, but you will do," said Catherine, stepping out of the shadows.

"Stop this, Catherine," protested Hannah.

"Ugh, whine, whine and whine. No wonder dad never loved you," said Catherine, grinning.

Hannah looked down, unable to respond to her sister's cruel statement because she knew she was right. She spent her entire life trying to get their father's approval only to realize in the end, she would never gain it. She couldn't pretend to be who they wanted her to be any longer.

"Poor little Hannah," Catherine said, still grinning.

Hannah fumed and she pushed her self-sympathy aside. Catherine had to be stopped. With determination, she marched toward her sister.

As Michele watched the two sisters begin their face-off, she dropped her guard. A vampire approached Michele from behind and sunk his fangs into her soft flesh. Amy quickly reacted, pulling out a stake from her jacket pocket. She jabbed the wood into his back, then pulled it out along with the vampire's heart. Amy held out her hands and caught Michele as they fell to the ground.

On the other side of the room, Catherine and Hannah were exchanging blow for blow. Catherine pulled out a knife and stabbed Hannah in the leg.

"Really? A knife?" Hannah cried. She pulled it out, disgusted by the sick, sucking sound it made as she freed it from her muscle. She tossed the knife aside and the clang from the metal hitting the floor, echoed in her mind. Suddenly, Hannah fell to one knee, her vision becoming hazy. She tried to focus on her sister but now there were multiple of her. Her vision became darker and darker until she passed out.

Amy attempted to jump in, but Catherine threw her across the room. Amy collided into a shelf, knocking dozens of books to the floor. She dug her way from underneath the book avalanche only to find Catherine gone, taking Hannah with her.

"Michele," she thought and ran over to check on her just as Michele was waking. "Are you okay?" she asked.

"Yeah, thanks to you," Michele replied. She wrapped her arms around Amy's shoulders for support as she pulled herself up. "Where is Hannah?"

"They took her," said Amy, looking ashamed. "Let's just get what we came here for before the police show up."

"Agreed," Michele said, pointing at the mandrake root. "There's one..."

Back at the Caswell mansion, Catherine threw her sister into one of the many dungeons in the basement. She sat on the dank ground patiently waiting for her to wake up.

"Where am I?" Hannah spotted Catherine and tried to attack her, but she was much too weak to fight.

"What's wrong, Hannah? You're looking a little pale," Catherine said. 

"What did you do to me?" Hannah asked as she used all her strength to sit upright.

"The knife you pulled out of your leg earlier, my witch put a hex on it," Catherine explained. "See those dark veins spreading from the wound. The poison is taking over your body. All you need is some blood to heal you. Would you like some blood, baby sister?" She gave her little sister a sadistic look, then threw her the pack.

Hannah seized it and quickly gulped down the life-saving blood. As it traveled down her throat, it burned, and the fire spread throughout her body. She abruptly stopped drinking, vomiting the dark red liquid. 

"Oops, did I forget to mention it has to be family blood or else it only worsens the poison?" Catherine giggled. "Oh well." She turned and left the dungeon, and Hannah could only watch as her chance of survival walked out the door.

Kara Everitt is young, gorgeous, and has overcome great odds to become a successful detective working for Ayers Police Department; but she is about to face her greatest challenge yet. She plans to infiltrate the most impenetrable vampire clan in Ayers, VA. Her younger sister Alyssa has become infatuated with the dangerous family known as The Caswells, a family that Kara has suspected to be involved in a string of odd crimes over the years, including the murder of her parents. Kara refuses to let Alyssa fall to the same horrific fate.

A bright light surrounds me and when the light vanishes I see myself in a courtyard of sorts with people all around me moving around .moving my arms and legs I see that it's the same as real life so I walk out of the courtyard and begin to tour the city.

After walking around through different parts of the city from a place that sold only weapons to another that specialized in selling magic potions both of which I was to broke to purchase I feel a tug on my shirtsleeve turning I see an old woman was the one who stopped me.
"How may I help you?" I ask hoping that she will give me a quest like saving her daughter from bandits or recovering her family's lost treasure from a dragon. "My children are all grown up and have left me can you help me fetch some water from the well over there "she says as she offers me a wooden bucket.

Hiding my disappointment I smile at her "sure just wait here" I reply. Taking the bucket I walk to the well that has a small queue there and after some time I fetch the water and bring it back to her. "if it is not too much to ask can you bring the water to my house" she asks as I am about to leave."No just lead the way" I reply.
After walking for ten minutes, dodging both npcs and players we get to her house a small house. Walking into the house I drop the bucket, looking around the house I can really see that the old woman needs help.

Steeling my mind I grab a broom lying around and begin to sweep the house "you don't have to do that "the old woman says."I know but I would like to do it"I reply as I continue my sweeping. After sweeping I look for a rag and dust the entire house, it takes hours but by the time I am finished with the cleaning the house is looking far better than before though it could still do with a paint job. Moving to the door so I can head back into the city I hear a voice "young man may I have your name" looking back to see the old woman I reply" Michael".

"Michael" she says as she walks closer to where I stand at the door "it's getting later why don't you stay here for the night and continue your journey tomorrow .looking at the sky I see that she is right the sun is almost down and so far I didn't want to touch the two silver coins every player is given at the start of the game.
Alone in the room I bring up my player status to check how my status looks like.

After looking at my stats for some time I check out the help option in the player menu. There is a small note about the money exchange rate in the game that npcs use.

Closing the menu I log out form the game and wake up in the real world on my bed. Seems like I will have to hunt monsters and do more quests in I want to have a chance with all the other players moving around the city" I say to myself as I fix a late dinner.

Three hours later when I logged back into the game the day was just beginning to brighten .sitting n the bed I look around the sparse room the old woman Elena had given me to use, she said it was her son's room .walking to the kitchen I find the old woman sitting in one of the chairs with a box at her feet, "I guess you will be leaving now" she says to me. "Yes I will "I reply.
"Take this with you as you go "she tells me as she pushes the box to me .opening the box I see a plain sword wrapped in red silk, taking the sword I open the player menu and place the sword in my inventory. "Thank you" I say turning to her. "Just remember to visit me whenever you are in the city." she tells me as I walk out the door and head into the city. As soon as I leave the house a small window pops open.

Moving through the city I come across different quests from tending to a shop to walking a dog and babysitting a child. From what I have seen until you finish a quest you won't know the rank of the quest or the possible rewards so a player has to take most requests from the npcs around as the reward maybe a rare item.
Moving to the city gates I see different players with placards looking for members for their guilds. Paying no attention to them I continue on my way, pass the city gate and head off to the surrounding country side to look for monsters to fight with.
After thirty minutes I come across a wild boar grazing in the grassland not what I was expecting but I will have to do with what I am provided.

As soon as the boar noticed me it charged at me .rolling to my left I dodge the boar as it barrels past me ,before it can turn round and charge at me again I quickly form a circle with my right pinkie finger in front of me and my player menu opens up.
  I equip Shiva's sword just in time to slice the side of the boar after side stepping the boar's second charge. Looking at the boar the wound I inflicted on it didn't seem to slow it down in fact it seemed more agitated than before as it came for a third charge.
When the boar gets close enough to me I surprise it by jumping on it ,noticing the passenger on it the boar jerks wildly and begins to run across the field trying to get me off its back while I hold on to one of its tusks with one hand as I tried to position myself to stab the boar .
A minute later when I feel as if my arm will disconnect form my body the boar stops abruptly, taking the chance I quickly stab my sword through the skull of the boar effectively ending our bouts. Looking at the dead boar I wait for it to disappear but after ten minutes the only thing that has happened is a window popping up telling me I had gained 20 experience points.
I spend the next four hours killing boars and the occasional fox. By night fall I have gained 50 copper coins intending to save my small wealth I head back to the old woman's house to spend the night while I log out.

By the fourth day after the launch of the game, the city was beginning to empty out as most players spent their time in the heart of the nearby forests grinding or moving to the bigger cities where they could get a larger variety of quests to complete. As for me, I decided to make this city Elmond, my home. After all, I had free food and shelter that was exclusively mine, unless I decided to leave the old woman.
Every day I make sure to log in at 6 A.M. game time so I can help around the house, and then I spend the rest of the morning. Then I spend my afternoons at the edge of the forest killing the wild boars around.

From the old woman, I had learnt that every part of animals and even monsters can be used and there were people willing to buy live monsters ‒ though for now I can't go deeper into the forest because of my low level, which really bothered me, as the fastest way to level up and increase my avatar stats was to defeat monsters. But I wasn't strong enough to defeat them yet.
Today after logging in, I move to the kitchen to find another person in the house that I share with the old woman. "Who are you and what are you doing here?" I ask the person. Turning to face me, I see that the person is a girl ‒ about five feet six inches with dark hair wearing a cloak, though through small slits in the cloak I can see armor.

"My name is not of importance," she replies. I move closer to her, that's when I step on something sticky. Looking at the floor, I see a red liquid. Seconds later, I realize that what I am seeing is blood. Taking a step back, I scan the kitchen for the source of the blood, and see the old woman lying behind the table with a slit throat.
The best defense is an offense. With that I mind, I take hold of one of the wooden chairs in the kitchen and toss it at the girl, which she blocks with her left arm. She unsheathes a sword with her right hand. Before I can equip my sword from the player menu, she lunges at me with a strike that is meant to decapitate me. Raising my hand I manage to avoid losing my head, but my arm is virtually hanging by a few pieces of bone.

Pain explodes in my hand. I thought this was a game, I yell in my mind as I fight the pain and pull my sword out. The shock of me using my arm as a shield stops the assassin momentarily, and I use this chance to stab her through the heart.
Pulling my sword out of the now dead assassin, I move to where the old woman's body lays. Kneeling down beside her, I remember how she used to joke around that there were people that would be happy to see her die. Back then I thought she was just an old woman spouting nonsense, but know I can't help but think that maybe her fears had a reason ‒ but I can't imagine why someone would want to kill an old woman.
While I kneel there thinking, I fail to see the shadow moving in the city until it looms over me. By then it's too late, as I feel something blunt hit the back of my head, knocking me unconscious.

When I came to, I was in a dark room. Trying to stand up, I find that my arms and legs are tied to the chair. Suddenly, a bright light enters the room, momentarily blinding me. When my sight returns, I look around to see a person in a cloak with the hood pulled up to hide their face, leaving only the chin and mouth visible.
"What were you doing in one of the members of the mage council's home?" the hooded person asks. "I don't know what you're talking about," I reply. I don't see the blow, but I definitely feel the force of the punch on my jaw as it snaps my head to the side. I breathed deeply, feeling the pain in my jaw begins to grow. "Let's try this again. Why did you kill the mage?" I am asked.
"I don't know what you are talking about, I only killed someone that killed the old woman I stay with," I answer. This time I see the fist coming, and I tilt my head to the side to avoid the punch. I guess dodging the punch wasn't such a good idea, as the hooded person pulls out a slim dagger.
"When you are ready to tell me the truth let me know," my interrogator says to me. He begins to slice my face, making thin lines. The pain is so much that the game system forces me to log out.
Lifting up the helmet, I place it on the table beside my bed. I feel like I just had a dream in which I was being beat. Moving to the sitting room, I use my laptop to check the Terra online forum that was created by the game makers to help players share tips, and to announce upcoming events.

Scrolling through the posts, I think of ways to escape my current jailer. No doubt there might be other guards, so what I need now is some type of spell that teleports me to another location. But, seeing that I don't even know how to cast a spell in Terra, I have to first go to the tutorial page the game makers posted. After two minutes of search I finally see it. "There it is," I say to myself.
How to cast magic spells: In Terra, there are different ways of casting spells; from saying the name of the spell to having the picture of what the spell is to do firmly in the casters mind, and even incantations of three to more sentences for high level spell for the cost of mana. For instance, saying the word 'fireball' with the image of the size of fire ball desired materializes a fireball.

Now I need to find if anyone has posted a teleporting spell online. It takes two hours before I can find a spell that transports the caster to another location, but with the spell I found, the caster has no control on where he or she will reappear. Though I can't complain, I think as anywhere else is better than the room where I am being tortured.
Going back to my room, I put on the helmet and log into the game. The wounds on my face are not as painful as before, though I can still feel a dull throbbing on my face where the blade sliced me. 

"Welcome back stranger," a voice says.

Looking around, I see the two hooded people; one with a bloodied blade in his hand and another person, though from the way the cloak hugs the person I can tell it's a female. "My partner here is the one that healed your arm when you first got here, and she dulled the pain on your face," the interrogator says to me as he gestures to the woman beside him. "I am going to torture you until you are about to die then have you healed only to repeat this until you confess," he says as he goes to a table I didn't notice before, which had knives, hooks, and other torture devices on it.
Seeing the devices on the table motivates me to begin the spell I found. "Oh great west wind, I ask for thy embrace, lead me to safety away from the land of my enemies," I whisper. Turning to look at me, the healer sees me smirk, and shouts a warning to her partner ‒ just as a bright light engulfs me.

the year is 2144 after years of research the teslar corporation one the top game produces in the world launch their newest creation TERRA an MMORPG that has never been seen before where players are transported into another world ,a world of humans dwarfs and elves to an age where they battle monsters and each other to complete quests and end the game for the grand prize of a hundred million dollars .

"Mr. Rhode, what are your next plans?" Metzel questioned as he gazed at the wretched Battle Angel lady.
He turned his gaze towards Delno who stood beside him blankly. The spirit of this Battle Angel seemed to have been lost ever since he entered the room and witnessed his companion in this horrible state. After all, Metzel and Shirley were saddened by the Battle Angel lady's tragic experience even after spending only a few days with her previously. No matter what, Angels were the representative of kindness. Even though they might be stubborn and inflexible in different situations, it was this quality of theirs that had become the spirit humans longed for. Therefore, no matter what, Metzel and Shirley clearly refused to see an Angel pass on in such a tragic fate.
Rhode didn't respond to Metzel's question immediately. Instead, he turned around to the young ladies beside him. "Anne, search for any loots outside with Gillian. Also, check if the Lich left behind anything worthy. By the way, be careful of magical traps. Listen to Gillian's instructions and don't touch anything that you shouldn't."
"Yes, Leader." Anne smiled and nodded slightly before grabbing Gillian's hand. "Let's go, Sister Gillian. I wanna see if that skeleton left anything good for us."
"No problem, Miss Anne. Relax, we have a lot of time on our hands…" Gillian winked cheekily at Rhode before leaving the room with Anne.
Metzel sighed and exhorted softly. "Shirley, go check out the outside, just in case."
"Ah… Okay…" The Thief young lady was about to object, but she swallowed her words after glancing at the Battle Angel's ashen corpse and agreed. She exited the room and closed the door to isolate herself from the sick, repulsive room reeking of blood.
Thud. The closing sound of the door echoed in the dark, lifeless room and nobody spoke. After a few moments, Rhode gave Metzel the answer to his question like a delayed response from an online character who had just reconnected to the game. "Our guild has taken up a mission to eliminate the undead creatures occupying Castel Plateau Ruins. So, we need evidence to prove that we have completed this mission… This phylactery is very crucial and we are bringing it back with us."
"This…" Metzel sensed Delno's grim expression worsening. After all, these two fraternal Battle Angels had travelled the surface together. Metzel could understand Delno's wishes to avoid presenting his companion's current, sorrowful state to others.
"Excuse me, Sir…" Delno stepped forward and bowed towards Rhode in a somewhat awkward manner before stuttering in puckered brows. "I know… I have no right to request this. But I…"
"All I want is the phylactery." Rhode interrupted Delno and unsheathed the twin daggers at his waist. The daggers glowed in cold rays as an array of blade rays flashed before Metzel and Delno. Delno couldn't stop Rhode in time.
The razor-sharp blades pierced the bulging belly without any resistance. Rhode turned his wrists to control the daggers nimbly like a gynecologist and in the blink of an eye, the belly was divided into four. Unlike the doctors, Rhode didn't need to consider how to suture this insignificant problem.
At this point, even Metzel and Delno were stricken into silence as they gazed at the hidden content with fear and bewilderedness.
Revolting rotten flesh and scarlet tentacles wrapped around a fist-sized, white, jade-like round stone like an embryo. The burgundy walls of flesh contracted rhythmically under the blood flowing in the body and an eyeball whirled above it. After Rhode's group came into its sight, the eyeball snapped and glared at them!
"Argh…!" Metzel was the first to turn over from this disgusting sight as he held onto the door for support and started vomiting. He had seen bloody battlefields, but this scene before his eyes had surpassed and reached the degree of nausea. He was glad of his decision to send Shirley away; Rhode must have sent Anne and Gillian away because of this too.
Rhode wrinkled his brows at this disgusting thing. Although Rhode had seen much more repugnant creatures in budget horror movies, this real-life experience was much more shocking than observing from behind the screen, especially when the smell of blood, rotten corpses, and the pungent air assailed his nostrils.
However, even so, Rhode continued his hand movements.
Rhode pierced the right dagger into the belly once more and cut around the phylactery before flicking it into the air. It landed into a sack that Rhode had prepared. Then, he tightened the opening of the sack and forced it into a pitch-black iron box that he retrieved from his spatial bag.
Although he didn't know the special features of this phylactery, he had no intention of trying it on himself.
"I'll leave the rest for you two." Rhode turned around and gazed at the two disgusted men before exiting the room.
The system prompt finally emerged before Rhode's eyes.
"Looks like I'm right." Rhode heaved a sigh of relief.
Although he had completed this mission in the game before, the difference between the game mission and the actual mission was too big. Besides, Rhode wasn't sure that it was the phylactery in his hands and now, it seemed that this mission didn't go to waste.
At this moment, the system prompt once again emerged.

This was the third spell card in Rhode's possession, with the other two spell cards being Gillian's. However, this card didn't resemble the system spell cards. Instead, it seemed to only be used for summoning undead creatures. As a matter of fact, this card seemed rather weak and according to the description of its effects, Rhode could turn a maximum of 30 corpses into undead creatures for his disposal. However, what could these 30 undead creatures possibly do? Rhode's current enemies weren't humans and this card was basically useless. Furthermore, he was currently under the protection of the Light Dragon Soul and in the land of the Munn Kingdom, he would be seeking death if he were to use this undead spell-like card… As for the Country of Darkness? They were all true blood Undead Mages who could easily manipulate tens of thousands of undead creatures. The undead creatures in Rhode's possession were nothing more than a little dot to them, so what was the point?
"Hmm…" Rhode kept the card as he shook his head hopelessly. Then, he gazed at the next reward: Construct Guards Defense Formation.
This was the best haul for Rhode and with this Defense Formation and Lapis' abilities as an Alchemist Master, there wouldn't be a problem increasing the Fortress's defense. As for the final reward…

"Eh?" Rhode widened his eyes in surprise. "What's this?"


Rhode is a legendary guild leader of the most influential guild in the VRMMO, Dragon Soul Continent. In order to cope with the death of his beloved sister, he dived into the game for seven long years. During this period, Rhode tries his best to alleviate his emotional pain through gaming, but alas, his life shatters once more when he heard his parents perish in a plane crash.

Rhode smiles as his avatar dissipates in a beam of light. However, instead of respawning at the usual platform...

Rhode shot up and stared at the unfamiliar ceiling.

And thus, a player who had been creating legends in the game for three eras disappeared just like that...

After the celebrations wrapped up the party travelled back to the undead starting zone where they completed a few basic quests bringing JohnWillStab up to level 10.

JohnWillStab was covered in green spider blood particles as he stood before the spider-quest NPC.

JohnWillStab looked down to the spell seeing that it had a simple "?" icon and a description which read as follows, "I had no idea what kind of spell I should put here, promise we'll get it sorted before the beta is out :)"
A sudden feeling of disappointment came over him.
[JohnWillStab: I'm starting to feel like this game is more broken than expected...]

♕ worked her usual wizardry to see that JohnWillStab did, in fact, have a blank spell called "WIP#1244" - from the looks of it the spell had no other attributes.
[♕: Sorry to disappoint, but it really is just a useless spell.]

JohnWillStab proceeded to try his technique of dividing 625 by 625, which to his credit - he solved quickly.
"How does this man pay his bills? Does he have a house? Did he lie about his age? Did a cat learn to play the game and is now using it as an excuse to learn and take over the world?" ♕ thought.

[JohnWillStab: How the hell are you typing at 1 year old?!]

[♕: No - this isn't about the age anymore - I will not have a person like you in this god-forsaken world!]

[XxFoxlyxX: I just use the calculator on my phone for square roots and the stuff - doesn't everybody?]
[Bonifacius: I do indeed use a calculator when that need arises.]

[♕: He tried to find the square root of a number by dividing it by itself! There is no excuse!]
[Bonifacius: There is nothing wrong with experimentation, besides finding square roots manually is rarely taught in schools anymore.]

"How would he know that?" John thought before being approached by ♕ again.

[♕: Alright, you absolute dumb-f#*k - I will tell you how to solve the problem and you do it!]
[JohnWillStab: Alright...] John was basically crying at this point.
[♕: Find the 2 numbers that make up 625.]
[JohnWillStab: ...but there are 3 of them...]
[♕: John... I have you address recorded on my PC now, I will find you if you don't solve this.]

JohnWillStab looked out his window in fear before rushing over to close the blinds.
[JohnWillStab: 62 and 5?]
[♕: Wrong.]
[JohnWillStab: 6 and 25?]
[♕: Wrong.]

John was stuck, he was sitting cross-armed at his desk occasionally sniffling a little.
[♕: Tick-tock, John - tick-tock.]
[JohnWillStab: I'M STUCK!]
[♕: YOU WILL BE STUCK WHEN I COME TO YOUR FU#!ING HOUSE AND BUST YOUR KNEECAPS!]

A private message came from Bonifacius - before he could read it ♕ deleted the message.
[♕: No cheating!]

"Alright, think, think - ...wait, I know it! It's a square root!"
[JohnWillStab: I'm trying to get the square root? So I'll just multiply 625 by 625 - so now we have 625 squared.]
[JohnWillStab: And 625 - 625 squared is just "squared"]

♕ was speechless - she refused to believe that he not only pulled the "solution" out of his ass - but also got it wrong since it should be "minus squared" if anything."
[♕: Nevermind, I give up.]
[♕: I quit.]

♕ logged off.
[JohnWillStab: Yeah - I think I'll go too, I need to lock my doors, see you guys.]
JohnWillStab logged off.

[Bonifacius: ...]
[XxFoxlyxX: Well this is awkward...]

The two logged off and went to sleep soon after.

"Melissa sure overdid it again…"
"Of course she did captain, that bastard killed 3 of us!"
"Knock it off Ahri! Remain calm and alert! We haven't captured him yet."
(This entire failure was due to my personal ineptitude. I imagine that I'll be harshly reprimanded for this mission when we return to the capital.)
Ignoring his own advice all the imperial knight captain was concerned about was what would happen when he returned to the capital, after all, there's no way the demonkin could fight all of them at the same time, especially so after he had been hit by one of Melissa's arrows. In truth, they had no idea who they were facing and if wanting to prove exactly that Dax those that moment to walk out of the ruined building with a 2 meter long, spear like metal arrow stuck halfway into his gut.
"This is your last chance to surrender!"
Overcoming the slight shock of seeing that his target was still able to walk around, the imperial knight captain drew his one handed sword from its sheath which was hidden inside the tower shield he held in his dominant hand. Following his lead, the other imperial knights drew their weapons and started half encircling their target for capture, but in response, the demonkin only seemed to start smiling.
"I could extend that message to all of you as well, but it seems like that won't stick… Well then, I assume that's all of you? Except for the marksman of course… No more holding back then."
Gripping the arrow stuck in his gut, the qiton's hand started to heat up the metal at a rapid pace. Watching and wincing as the metal heated up bright red and the smell of burnt flesh spread out through the area as the metal arrow melted and fell apart.
"There we are~ ICI engage automatic repair, exit acoustic mode."
[DIRECTIVE CONFIRMED, LEVEL ALPHA OPERATION MODE RESTORED. AUTOMATIC REPAIR ENGAGED, LOADING SCRIPT… COMPLETE, TASKING BLACKMATTER.]
As if betraying the laws of physics the black blood which poured out from the demonkin's wound returned to his body as the wound healed up.
"Sorry for the wait. ICI."
[DIRECTIVE CONFIRMED, FORMULATING HIGH BANDWIDTH QUANTUM DATABRIDGE TO KINGSTEAD TACTICAL DATA CENTRE, CONNECTION ESTABLISHED OFFLOADING PROCESSING… COMPLETE, FORMULATING SPELL ARCHITECTURE, SYSTEM ONLINE, INITIALIZING ASCENSION SCRIPT... ASCENSION ONLINE, AMBIENT MANA ABSORPTION AT MAX, MANA FORGE ONLINE, RUNNING AT 500% FACTORY DESIGNATED LIMIT.]
"Phase 3."
With a single word mana flooded towards the demonkin with such intensity that the siege barrier flickered for a moment, as the ground shook with such intensity that all the citizens of the Greendale capital felt it, including one particular inhabitant of one of the largest church who was lazing around on the main altar.
"Oh?... Well, isn't that interesting?~"

"What the fuck are you?"
Looking at the demonkin he was supposed to capture the imperial knight captain struggled to rationalize what he was seeing. Floating about 3 meters off the ground the demonkin he was supposed to capture were briefly surrounded by golden crystals that then turned a pure black before they became a single pair of 5 metres wide 'wings' while his eyes glowed in a soft golden light.
"You don't need to know."
Closing the range in the blink of a second the captain had a fraction of a second to react and he acted on instinct, abandoning his shield and stepping back as it was sliced apart.
"Nice reflexes. Howitzer."
But sadly those fast reactions made him predictable and with a wave of Dax's hand, he was sent flying. Still holding the advantage of surprise the qiton sliced through another knight before they managed to react, cleaving the knight in two as his sword's aura flared.

While a certain overly sweet sounding voice rang out in his head Dax managed to close the distance to yet another imperial knight, this time aiming to cut the head clean off instead of cutting down along the entire body.
"FU!-"
But the imperial knight had barely managed to react in time and so Dax only managed to just slice into the knight's neck he reacted fast by ducking under the return strike before clenching his free fist, stepping into range then uppercutting the knights head clean off his body. Just after he had dealt with that knight he was once more targeted by the hostile marksman, but this time Dax was prepared.
"Aegis."
Watching her arrow harmlessly stopping right in front of her target, the imperial knight Melissa didn't react in time when the demonkin repurposed her arrow and sent it back towards her with such force that it destroyed the tower she had been occupying.
(If you want to keep trying to snipe me from such a short range, then at least change up your position every now and then…)
"DIE!"
But still, the marksman had briefly distracted Dax and the imperial knight Ahri used his lapse in judgment to the best of her ability as she charged into the demonkin's range with her twin single edged swords.
(So no more capturing me?)
Blocking one of the single edged swords with his own sword and the other with his bare arm Dax easily pushed back the pesky knight, but by doing so he lost his momentum.
"Tch, buckshot."
Realizing that he was on the back foot Dax switched up his tactics to speed over damage as he settled for maiming another approaching knight while ignoring those who fruitlessly targeted him with ranged spells.
"XMA, arms."
"What!?-"
All of a sudden Dax's 'wings' which housed the ascension spell formation changed their shape, turning into a pair of extra arms that stabbed straight through the knight.
"Time to clean up this shitshow."
Creating a blastwave to knock away the imperial knights, Dax started to gather up mana while ignoring all but the most serious spells against him.
"Fuck!"
Realizing what her opponent was trying to do, Ahri used the last of her mana to compress the blood that was flowing down her arms at the blades of her swords, enhancing their sharpness as she charged the demonkin.
But it was too late.
"Air pressure control: Annihilation."
Having completed his spell Dax turned to a truly cruel spell, creating a high pressure thermal pulse which immediately ignited wood, fabric and skin within a 10 meter radius. In truth, the only humane thing about the spell was that it forced extremely high temperature air down into the lungs of the imperial knight caught within the range, that way they didn't have to suffer that much from being burned alive before dying.
"Urg!- W-what happened?"
Waking up and immediately puking up a pool of blood the imperial knight captain struggled to get back on his feet as he realized that most of his left side ribs were cracked and the lung behind them was mostly gone. Finally getting back on his feet after some struggling what the imperial knight captain saw terrified him, to the very core. Burned copes with nothing but the signature armour worn by an imperial knight to identify them.
"Any last words?"
"... Why do all of this?"
Looking up at the creature he had until now believed to be a mere demonkin, the imperial knight captain now looked like something way more terrible. Truly this creature was out for the Empire's blood, the question the imperial knight captain had to know before dying was why.
"To make a statement."
Stabbing the imperial knight captain with his cursed sword Dax confirmed he had killed all 20 imperial knights before relaxing slightly. Looking at his free hand the qiton clenched it to check on its level of function.

(WASTE HEAT FROM MANA FORGE @ 426%, MULTIPLE CLASS 4 INTERNAL BURNS DETECTED, MOBILITY  LIMITED TO 65%.)
(Well, that's to be expected with the strain I'm putting on mostly prototype equipment… Still, the waste heat sure is an issue, I guess I'll have to make further fights shorter for the sake of keeping my mobility to an acceptable level. It really does suck that any cooling spell devised thus far generates more heat than it neutralizes… Guess I'll have Iris look into applying some kind of mana fueled resonant frequency cooling when I get back.)
(PROXIMITY ALERT, CONTACT REAR. LARGE CLASS MANA SIGNATURE IDENTIFIED.)
Snapping Dax out of his train of thought ICI made him aware of the observer who had been witnessing his fight with the imperial knights since just after it started.
(Yeah I'm aware, ready callout beta.)
Turning to face the observer which had now closed in on him, Dax felt a slight chill run down his back.
(Shit…)
"Hello there, what can I do to help the true leaders of the Empire?"
The creature's 10 pairs of golden brown wings proved Dax couldn't win a straight up fight in his current state and judging by her vastly superior attitude with the addition of no weapons in her hands, the archangel was also aware of that fact. She had the same look in her eyes like Solaris did when she first met Dax, with her brownish green eyes she was looking at a bug or some simple beast to be dissected, but unlike Solaris, there was something else Dax couldn't quite put his finger on.
"My~ You sure have some fine manners, I just came here today to say hello and find out your intentions for wrecking my favourite vacation home."
"I sincerely apologize for causing damage to your dear vacation home, while it is no excuse I had no prior way of knowing this place held such importance."
Offering a deep bow and an apology. Dax held his breath until he heard a quiet laugher from the archangel.
"It was just a joke, don't worry about it, I really just came to say hello. My name is Eos, archangel of the 22nd sanctuary."
"The 22nd? So a guardian of the Empire... You don't mind me killing off the imperial knights?"
Noticing what the archangel omitted Dax found himself unable to simply let that issue go, finding it to be a valuable chance at gaining more intelligence.
"Why would I do that? I do not care for simple pawns of that emperor, I care for something else. I will have you promise right here and now: No matter what your intentions may be no harm shall fall on the 22nd sanctuary."
"... Sure, I can promise that. My problem is not with you, but the shadow organization who produced the half alive creatures which attacked me first."
"Ah, those old wrinkled men? Then search the imperial capital for the same kind of mana you felt for their creatures. I'll see you again at some point, bye Dax~"
Leaving Dax with that message the archangel set to the sky as the siege barrier around the capital of Greendale dissipated, leaving only Dax with two questions.
"Now to find my property, I wonder where she's at?… Wait, did I ever tell her my name?"


After crash landing in what turns out to be a fantasy world, the orbital marine Dax will have to fight the powers that
occupy the world to reclaim the technology that got stranded along with him and eventually repair his crashed ship
to return to his own world.
On the way he discovers the rule breaking power of mana, a special particle that seems naive to the world he now
is a part of. Feeling seriously outgunned Dax places a priority on regaining his lost weaponry that is scattered
throughout the world, ranging in size and effectiveness from electromagnetically powered assault rifles,
powered exoskeletons and autonomous drones from the size of a spying UAV to heavy assault ships.
But the marine is not alone in his search those weapons, the powers of the world he now finds himself a part of is
quickly realizing that something outside their realm of understanding has graced the planet and that those artefacts
trapped inside large floating black sphere’s hold vast strategic value. Dax is then faced with a complex problem,
he must secure the technology that he needs to leave while at the same time make sure the tools of war from his world is not misused at the cost of being made a target by powers he fails to fully understand.

On his way Dax will have run ins with various powers, some of them hostile, some of them a bit more amenable to persuasion and mutual cooperation. After all, what is a knight, king, angel, demon or grand wizard to a railgun or even a tactical class high energy laser in orbit?

They’re soft targets.


For the record, English is not my first language, so there might be some spelling/grammar mistakes here and there. I’ve been getting better at writing over the last year or so, and have plans to go back and edit my old chapters, but it’s really hard to find the time.

The story is 5-6 years old and it was written when I first start writing, there will be some mistakes here and there but it might show you an idea on how much I've improved XD~
The story is completed since it was a short 100k words novel~ and it was done in a week~ yeay!

Don’t you think that life in this world is a little bit boring? People talks to someone they know every day, pretending that they are friends. In reality they are doing such things just for their own convenience. Tell to each other that they are friends.  Just for a sole reason, so they can take advantage from the other party.
 
I realized these things since I entered high school. It is true that I was an introvert. I was not an outgoing person, but I can survive in the community. I prefer reading book and playing games, rather than exercising or doing outdoor sports. I didn’t talk much, only when I needed to. But maybe that’s why they decided to pick on me.

One day I was bullied by my upperclassmen. My best friend was at the scene. I called out to him, asking for help. But he just passes by like I was some stranger that he met at the road. The next day at school he said that he was sorry, because there is nothing that he can do. 

We have been spending times together since middle school. Hanging out together, doing homework, cheat our way out trough exams, and playing games together. We are close. Or so I thought. So this is how the community works. 

People in this world, they are reeks of evil. They only care about their self. Money and power is what they seek. They are a hypocrite if they said they are doing charity because of love. They are doing it so people will have better opinion about them. This world has rotten too much. I don’t have the power to change this world. I never even dream about changing this world.

So what should I do? I don’t have any other place to go. I wander around aimlessly until I stop by a large screen TV in front of a shopping mall.

 “Behold the new era of gaming. With Syder (synapse reader) implemented on the system, Rebirth Online will be the first VRMMORPG (Virtual Reality Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game) in the world. The pre-order sales have gone through 500,000 units and will be shipped all around the world tomorrow, along with the first launch of the server. People who don’t apply for the pre-order can buy them tomorrow at FFAID Corporation building in Akihabara at 7:00am. Luckily, we have Dr. Hans Schneider here with us; please let us welcome the person that invented the Syder, as our guest for the interview tonight.” Said the beautiful newswoman on the TV enthusiastically.

“Dr. Hans, tell me about the Syder. Isn’t it just recently invented and haven’t been properly accepted by various medical organization around the world? Even the rumor says that it possess a threat to the brain.” the newswoman asking with full of curiosity.

“The WHO (World Health Organization) already acknowledges it as a safe and usable product. Otherwise we may not be able to sell it. The Syder itself doesn’t do anything to the brain so it couldn’t damage it. As the name implies, Syder is a synapse reader. Our five senses, touch, sight, hearing, taste, smell even our sense to temperature, pain, balance, time, and kinesthetic is controlled by the brain. This starts when a neuron receives an impulse and they transmitted it to the brain. They transmitted it in a form of electricity trough a connective tissue named synapse which connects one neuron to the other neuron. When this electricity processed in the brain, we often read it as a brain wave. So Syder makes it possible for us to read and send images to the brain of the virtual world. ” explain Dr. Hans who seemed can’t stop talking.

This is it. This is the answer to my entire question. I just have to run away to another world. I just have to run away to that world.
