S-so cool! 
For today's date, Nan Shen choose a simple navy blue polo shirt with jeans as the pants. For the shoes, coincidentally, he also use white sneaker like Tan Hua. 
Tan Hua was just about to approach Nan Shen when a few girls approached him instead with intention to seduce him. 
"Hey are you alone? if yes let's go together we can buy you a cup of coffee or anything" one of the girls approaching Nan Shen, confidently asked Nan Shen out with money thinking that the man would be interested.

"No I am waiting for my girlfriend" Nan Shen smile politely to the girls as he straightforward refuse the girls invitation. 
"What? but your girlfriend is nowhere to be seen" Another girl felt that Nan Shen was lying so she pressure Nan Shen with quite a harsh word. She didn't believe Nan Shen was waiting for someone! 
Seeing this,Tan Hua was rather reluctant to approach Nan Shen. She really wanted to go to Nan Shen and declare that the man was her boyfriend but somehow she didn't have the confidence to do that. 
She looked at the girls and look at herself. She felt like a dirt compared to those beautiful girls. They looked sexy and mature whereas she…looked like a high schooler even though she was already 22.
Tan Hua was just about to wait at the side or call Nan Shen that she was here when suddenly Nan Shen raised his head and his eyes met Tan Hua eyes. 
"Tan Hua!" Seeing Tan Hua, Nan Shen immediately ignore the girls crowding around him and quickly walked to Tan Hua place with a big smile on his face. 
"H-hi sorry I am late" Tan Hua suddenly got nervous when Nan Shen approached her. The distance between her place and Nan Shen place was quite big so she didn't expect the man to notice her right away. 
It's almost like magic! 
"You're late ah" Nan Shen looked happy when he saw Tan Hua and when he arrived at her place, he immediately patted Tan Hua head out of reflex. 
"Yeah I'm sorry the class ended late…" Tan Hua sneak a peek to the girls being left behind by Nan Shen and upon seeing the girls glare back at her, she couldn't help but hide behind Nan Shen. 
Why the heck she felt like a weak heroine in romance comic? She should be brave and glare back at those girls but somehow…she didn't have confidence to do it. 
After all she wasn't the main character in a comic who is always the prettiest among others or even though they're plain, they are either smart or at least kind. 
She didn't think she have those trait. 
"What are you looking at? Let's go!" Nan Shen didn't know what Tan Hua was thinking about and casually grabbed her shoulder before leading her to go to the aquarium. 
Seeing Nan Shen acted so friendly around Tan Hua, the girls scoffed and quietly leave the place. They didn't believe Tan Hua was this handsome man girlfriend but seeing his action just now it's proven to be true. 
"Mn let's!" seeing the girls already leave, Tan Hua secretly sighed in relief. She didn't have confidence with her beauty or brain so the last thing she could do is to become rich! 
This way at least she could be confident enough to claim that Nan Shen is his man. 
"You will love it" Nan Shen chuckled as his hand moved from Tan Hua shoulder to her hand. Before Tan Hua realize what he was going to do, the man already took Tan Hua hand and gripped it casually as if they always hold hand all the time. 
BATHUMP! 
"N-nan Shen…" Tan Hua face slowly turned red when she felt Nan Shen hand on her hand. She didn't know how Nan Shen did it so fast but she knew this is embarrassing! 
She never hold hand with other men before so this is super awkward for her. Not to mention she was holding hand with the man she love! Oh God look her hand began to sweat out of nervousness now. 
"It's so you won't be separated after we enter the aquarium later" Nan Shen knew Tan Hua was awkward with any kind of intimate act even like holding hand so he smoothly made a lie to calm her down. 
Well he could calm her down but actually he was also nervous okay?! He had make sure Tan Hua won't refuse him when he took her hand. This girl didn't know how much courage he gather just to hold her hand! 
He too never hold hand with woman before. Tan Hua is his first woman how could he didn't feel nervous at all? Look his palm is sweaty now! 
"A-alright" Tan Hua nodded her head as she try to hide her red face somewhere. She would be lying if she said she didn't like it when Nan Shen hold her hand so she only stay quiet and enjoy the moment.

Have you ever wanted to give light to something unknown? If so, then maybe you'll get a treat on the webtoon Caster by both Common/Noble Transmission. Let's end the February spotlights by finally sharing a little bit of Black History.


Author/Artist


Pretty sure I don't need to introduce who the musical artist Common is, but Noble Transmission deserves at least a little bit of praise. Caster is officially made by Austin Harrison, Zach Howard, and Mike Raicht. Their titles include "Wild Blue Yonder," listed as one of the Top 100 Great Graphic Novels for Teens by the American Library Association, and "Tree Mail" which won the Most Epic Adventure Award (voted on by kids).


The music of the webtoon features an All Original Score produced by Robert Glasper and co-produced by Jahi Sundance & Jay Cooper, with Common and Derek Dudley executive producing.


Summary


In a world filled with sexy espionage, no one can do it quite like Caster. Give him enough money, and the man is willing to travel just about anywhere to "relive" the ownership of any special artifact he can get his hands on. Despite this philosophy, Caster is a man with morals, and that may be the thing that makes his line of work finally catch up with him because he may have just stumbled upon the ultimate prize that will cost more than just a pretty penny for everyone involved.


Characters


Caster: Our main "hero" Caster is a true professional. He is almost always able to get the job done and has the patience and dedication to see a mission through to the end. However, it doesn't mean Caster is devoid of humor or a good joke every once in a while. Later chapters reveal that his rather snarky nature is a mask to hide a difficult past.


Mr. Nishimura: A close associate of Caster, Nishimura hopes to honor his daughter by collecting a series of artifacts that contain a possibility of bringing her back. To that end, he is more than ready to sacrifice just about anyone that gets in his way.


Nora/Mathias: A brother/sister duo of people tasked with protecting the artifacts, these two couldn't be more different. Nora is a radical extremist with a bad temper. On the flip side, Mathias is a calm, rational and honorable soul who doesn't believe in the superstitions of what they protect.


Lewis: Caster's closest sidekick, Lewis, is a complete socially awkward nerd who holds no punches with his words. However, this has led him to become one of Caster's closest allies as he does always put them first before anyone else for the sake of caution. 


Overview


I've been on webtoon for four years, and, amazingly, Caster has the most comic book style out of the bunch. The many locations of this worldwide romp are honestly wallpaper-worthy stuff and make the action scenes spicy. Caster isn't afraid to try and portray various cultures of said locations through the characters, leading to some pretty cool designs and images. However, I do think that the art sometimes lends itself to characters with rather awkward poses. Either way, though, the action scenes in Caster more than sell themselves. One chapter can involve half-naked sledding across icy hills or high-risk falls in an underground cave, giving the chase scenes a lot of flair compared to most webtoons.


Caster also features a relatively unique soundtrack, which is something that I wished more Webtoons used honestly. For this, in particular, I have to say that the music represents each scene pretty perfectly while changing when needed, giving the panels a very larger than life feel towards them.


Overall though, I have to admit that rereading Caster was more entertaining than I expected. This series replicates that Indiana Jones feel as this series fills itself with those tropes. Characters all have their motivations in this treasure quest, making them allies and enemies at the drop of a hat. The treasure itself also implies a far more mystical side to the story that might be played out later. Either way, this story is an easy binge with only 30 chapters.

Epilogue


Honestly, Caster is a bit of a sad case. I remember seeing this open up with BackChannel and Outrage and excited that more traditional western comics could go to Webtoon. I love webtoon for its international opportunities for people anywhere to make a following. Still, I do think that bigger projects like Caster should be more supported to help balance out the massive manhwa library. But considering that both Caster and Backchannel have been on hiatus for almost two years now, that dream seems to be coming to an end with Outrage and possibly Urban Animal as the winners. But who knows? Dr. Frost and Athena Complex have come back, so why can't these 2. Either way, I hope more comic books like projects like this see the spotlight shine on them again. But with this spotlight out of the way, let's move on to March with more spotlights, expect a lot more analysis and previous webtoons making an appearance soon.

Just a simple person is trying to shine a little light on the beautiful world of webtoon. With a splash of sarcasm, narration, and spitfire along the way.  And who knows I might have other segments just for the hell of it.
